Hi Everyone,
My name is Dave and I live in Norton MA. I have a wife and two kids and since I can no longer party with the toys I used to I have decided to rekindle my love for cigars. I am always up for good suggestions as there is a lot of stuff to try out there and I have to sample a lot of stuff to find out what I like again. I'm also up for scotch, wine and beer discusions. Thanks for having me aboard.

As I do like to fish; the PH is is refence to my favorite band (recently disbanded) Phish. But I'm afraid that I will be able to add to any fly discusions. I prefer deep sea or bass.

Hello phisherman!

I don't fish (vegetarian) but I like to drink Bass and I never met a Scotch I didn't like. What Scotch do you prefer? I like the Highland tasty beverages. Macallan's nice.

I would have to say Macallan's is a fave but prefer Balvenie. I love the port wood. I am still however waiting for a chance to sample the Macallan Gran Reserva 18-year-old. I have yet to see it at any bar that I would frequent and my wife would kill me if I dropped the cash needed for a bottle. I will bide my time well until then.

Macallan is good, but my favorite is Glenmorangie - if you like Port wood, they make their 12yr in several different woods - Madeira, Port, and Sherry if I remember correctly - you should definitely check them out!

Wow!

I don't visit this thread much and thought there would be only a few new members to say hi to. I was wrong. Anyway, welcome to the forum. As others have said you'll learn so much information here so stick around. I had thought I had caught this lifestyle on its tail end but its good to see new people all the time.

Welcome,
Justin

I have had the Glenmorangie port wood; it is nice. I still prefer the Balvenie port wood. The extra aging adds to the flavour. The nose on the Bal port is just wonderful. The Glenmorangie portwood is better for a more mild cigar though.

I have seen the bottles from 30 to 70 or 80 depending on the year and place. I will say that even the 10 yo is a glass that will last a good amount of time. The bottle goes a long way. I have had single malt bottles that last two weeks, some that last a long time. The bal lasts long. That's not to say that they do not drink well and just linger; but the scotch is worth savoring.

8) Just started getting into this on a serious basis recently. Daughter sent me some cigars and humidor so I thought I should give this a try. Enjoy reading the comments.
Some basic questions about humidors. Have a desktop (40 capacity) that came with hygrometer and credo. Dont think it was charged as humidor was at about 55% RH when it came. Do I need to open the credo or just put some 50-50 solution on it to get it started. Bought some cigars from here and put the blue gel pack that came with them in humidor and it sent RH up over 70 so I take it out when it gets over 70 and put it back when it drops but want to get credo working. Any help apprecia ted.[/img]

First, welcome to the forum. I am assuming you have an analog hygro? If you do, your best bet is to get rid of it and get a digital. If you are hell bent on keeping the analog, by all means do so. Either way, they both should be salt tested. (its a sticky thread on the top of the forum). Good luck, and happy smoking!! Ryan

yes, get a digital, if your serious about keeping cigars around you will end up with one anyway. and when you outgrow that 40 count box buy a new one on ebay 3x larger than you think you will need.

Welcome everyone! I still feel somewhat new, because I haven't posted much. I've been reading the forum though when I can (usually after I get home late from the gym).
