Hi all! My name is Dustin. I am from cental Texas and am relatively new to handmade cigars. Also new to this forum. Am currently smoking Torano Virtuosos and Fuente Hemingway perfectos. Lived here pretty much all my life. Also a new father. My wife had our first son 8 weeks ago. I am a handmade cowboy boot apprentice/maker. Enjoy bay fishing on the Texas coast, reading, spending time with my family and Playstation2 SOCOM online. Not much else for now. In fact, if I was a book, you could probably read it in about 3 minutes! Just wanted to say "Hi" to everybody!

Welcome Dustin, I was wondering who you were when you came to the live chat this evening.

Rob - I don't care for the flavored or aromatic cigars, but my brother love's em. We were at a nice lounge last weekend and he had an Acid #5 Torpedo. He said it was very sweet and it didn't smell too bad either. I enjoyed it so much he's ordering a box of them.

Puff, thanks for the welcome. Sorry I didn't stick around and chat longer. Son started crying. I'm learning about being a daddy, though. Anything about my life previous to him no longer matters! I'm really enjoying it and am happy to have the opportunity to serve him for the rest of my days!
Looking forward to gettting to know you guys and learning a bit more about fine smokes. Unfortunately none of my friends smoke on a regular basis so that puts me on the front porch by myself and trusty ipod to enjoy my smokes. I quess I should start hanging out at the local cigar shop. This forum seems to be the next best thing for talking to cigar people. Catch ya later! Dustin

Puff
might have to try one of them when i go to the lounge by me
was talking to the guy there he said the place cost about 600k to build
its a really nice place

welcome to everyone else

Hello all, my name is Alan. Been hanging around for a few weeks making a post here and there. Smoked Fuente Short Stories for the most part over the past few years and Acids only while playing cards (helps my game). A couple of months ago a good friend gave me a small humi as a gift with a CAO Gold Robusto in it. Since then I have been trying just about everything I can get my hands on (many of them by reading what you all are smoking). I definitely have some new favorites.

I am also a home winemaker. I make fruit wines and a few unusual ones too. I have found that a Gurkha Regent Toro pairs well with my Blackberry-Concord Port and Cusano 18 Dbl Conn Robusto is excellent with my Jasmine Rice wine.

I do most of my smoking way out in the back yard after dark as my children believe I will drop over dead from mouth cancer the second I take the first draw. (I also work for a certain institution that has begun testing new employess for nicotine-but that is a separate issue)

I know you are all tired of my ramblings so I will just say thanks for the wealth of info I have received from you all already.

Welcome Alan! New here myself. Bunch of great guys here who will make you feel welcomed. Try the live chat sometime. People are usually there around 9:00pm every night. Talk to you soon.

Hello my name is Tom. I had my first cigar a little over two years ago. With in the last year and a half I have began to collect and truely enjoy having one. I am still trying different cigars but I do enjoy any RyJ. I average only 4 or 5 sticks a month during the summer, because I have young children. In the winter it gets hard because I only smoke outside. I have lived in NJ all my life and I curently am in South Jersey.

I found this site about two months ago and wish I found it sooner. Been reading alot and I have learned tons. I hope to be some what active on the boards and hopefully get in on some trades and passes. Thanks to everyone for the quick answeres to my question and I looked forward to furture conversations.

Hey Tom!
Welcome aboard!
I am also a South Jerseyite! I believe that I read you live in Burlington County, though I live in Camden County, we can't be tooo far away!
I do make some jaunts into Philly on occasion, Mahogany on Walnut is my spot. We will have to get together for a smoke!

Hi everyone!
Been reading for a few weeks, but a first time poster here.
I was introduced to the glorious world of cigars about 2 years ago, but have just started getting serious in the past few months. I've learned a lot by reading the posts here and I look forward to learning more and more.

Some personal info:
I was born and raised in Chicago and the South Suburbs, but I've been living in Lafayette, IN for the past 15 years.
Hobbies are poker, brewing beer, and cigars (hmmm, all my hobbies are considered to be vices by most. Does that say something about me?)

Now the vital statistics:
A 100-count humidor (a year old)
A 500-count standing humidor (2 months old)
Xikar Xi cutter
Xikar 007 punch
Colibri Firebird torch lighter
Ronson torch lighter (looks rough, works great!)

Top 5 cigars (in no particular order):
Rocky Patel Sungrown torpedo
Partagas Black Label Magnifico
Montecristo Media Noche Edmundo
CAO Brazilia Gol or Samba
ANYTHING Padron (3000 or 6000 Maduro especially)

Best cigar ever:
Padron 1926 Anniversary No. 9 Maduro

Worst cigar ever:
(let's not go there)

I also like the Cigar.com Blue Label a lot (never had a bad one, it's my "in the mood for a smoke" smoke)
I've tried the Red and Cuban Labels, and am waiting to try the Purple, Corojo, and Cameroon (half-dozen of each resting in my humi.)

I've been busy picking up samplers and singles for the past few months (gotta fill up that 500-count with something!) so I've got a nice assortment to explore. (And I'd better make them last, because my cigar budget just dipped into the red.) I've found that I lean toward Nicaraguan tobaccos and maduro wrappers, but I am still in the early stages of finding out what I like. I also prefer something in the robusto size range, at least 5" length, and 50-ring or bigger, but if I have the time, I'll gladly smoke something bigger.

I look forward to learning a lot more here, and hopefully sharing some of my own experiences eventually.

OK, enough typing. My humidor is just 6 feet away and it’s looking at me. Might be time to go light up a cigar.
