Hi everyone!
Been reading for a few weeks, but a first time poster here.
I was introduced to the glorious world of cigars about 2 years ago, but have just started getting serious in the past few months. I've learned a lot by reading the posts here and I look forward to learning more and more.
Some personal info:
I was born and raised in Chicago and the South Suburbs, but I've been living in Lafayette, IN for the past 15 years.
Hobbies are poker, brewing beer, and cigars (hmmm, all my hobbies are considered to be vices by most. Does that say something about me?)
Now the vital statistics:
A 100-count humidor (a year old)
A 500-count standing humidor (2 months old)
Xikar Xi cutter
Xikar 007 punch
Colibri Firebird torch lighter
Ronson torch lighter (looks rough, works great!)
Top 5 cigars (in no particular order):
Rocky Patel Sungrown torpedo
Partagas Black Label Magnifico
Montecristo Media Noche Edmundo
CAO Brazilia Gol or Samba
ANYTHING Padron (3000 or 6000 Maduro especially)
Best cigar ever:
Padron 1926 Anniversary No. 9 Maduro
Worst cigar ever:
(let's not go there)
I also like the Cigar.com Blue Label a lot (never had a bad one, it's my "in the mood for a smoke" smoke)
I've tried the Red and Cuban Labels, and am waiting to try the Purple, Corojo, and Cameroon (half-dozen of each resting in my humi.)
I've been busy picking up samplers and singles for the past few months (gotta fill up that 500-count with something!) so I've got a nice assortment to explore. (And I'd better make them last, because my cigar budget just dipped into the red.) I've found that I lean toward Nicaraguan tobaccos and maduro wrappers, but I am still in the early stages of finding out what I like. I also prefer something in the robusto size range, at least 5" length, and 50-ring or bigger, but if I have the time, I'll gladly smoke something bigger.
I look forward to learning a lot more here, and hopefully sharing some of my own experiences eventually.
OK, enough typing. My humidor is just 6 feet away and it’s looking at me. Might be time to go light up a cigar.
