rebuilding the box pass

Well guys and lady, I took the risk of starting the box pass and it looks like the box may be gone. I did include some of the new folks in the pass simply to give them an opportunity to get involved and let the other forum members get to know each other. It's a risk that goes with any box pass or trade I guess. This has not ruined my trust for the members of this forum, old or new. There are some good upstanding folks here.

The suggestion for rebuilding the box pass sounds like a good one so we can complete the circuit, if everyone is agreeable. I would suggest that everyone who wants to send sticks to Capt (no more than 2 or 3 per person) put them in envelopes to keep the blind draw going. Also if you can, include a couple of extra envelopes to have a stock for the box. Freedomguns had graciously provided the envelopes for the pass. Capt, I will PM you with the list of addresses.

It is possible, as jihiggs said, that the box will still appear. Syntax may not have sent it Priority. Who knows.

I do appreciate the concern and goodwill shown by everyone involved and everyone watching and following the box pass progress. Losing 20+ cigars is not going to break me by any means. It is regretable that it seems to have happened. I would urge everyone to keep on building the friendships and trust that makes this forum unique. Don't let one bad experience stand in the way.

My thanks to all.

I never joined the box pass, as, because of my job, I cannot guarantee that I can get to the post office in a timely manner. After hearing this, I will gladly donate some sticks to start up a new one, just let me know who to send the sticks to.

Scott
Same goes for me. I can donate some sticks to help get you guys re-started again.

Hey guys, Since the "one day contest" was sort of an interlude for your box pass, If Dbrad has not sent the prize out yet, I would gladly have him use it to start another pass instead of giving it to me.

Scott, your prize package went out yesterday morning. I appreciate your offer, as does everyone else I'm sure. When you get the package you can post what you received (so Kelvin will know what he was supposed to have gotten  ). Then if you want to contribute a couple of sticks just watch this thread to see where we're going with the box pass re-starting. Thanks again and congrats.

I'll send the "box pass" cigars tomorrow to Capt (I'm at work right now.)

Dbrad, I already sent a package for you. Keep an eye out. Thank you for starting this pass!

I have plenty of envelopes ready to send to Capt. I will put together my replacement cigars and ship them off to Capt with the envelopes when Dbrad4d says go.

Man, this really bums me out!!!
I was not part of the pass, and I feel I got taken too!!!
I can toss in a couple of nice ones if you need to fill up the box, just let me know.

Ok guys and lady ... if we're going to do this and rebuild the box I would ask that if you want to contribute any sticks to the box please send cigars that meet the $5 minimum value as set in the rules at the beginning of the pass. Please limit your contribution to no more than 3 cigars. I don't want anyone to take a hit on their stash. I appreciate everyone who is willing to do this in an effort to finish this box pass circuit.

It has been suggested that anyone who contributes cigars to the rebuilding that was not on the original box pass list be added for a second go round, if they want to be added. Any comments either way?

I think that would be a good idea. A second pass. But, not to sound pessemistic; can we put up a screening process? I would hate to lose the box again. I appreciate the fact that people who are not in the pass want to give some of their own stash for the cause.

as for the opus scandle with syntax, he said he could get me a couple of them, and when i asked for the address again to send him the money he said dont, he couldnt get them anymore. :?

If this pass indeed fails, and you start another, I would like to help with what I can. I am a newcomer to this forum, yet have already been the recipient of much generosity. I would love to be considered for the next, or a future, box pass. That being said, due to the expenditures involved, I fully understand the need for a screening process, and am not offended by that in the least. I would suggest that the pass be limited to people that have already been part of at least a couple "smaller trades" with members in the forum. You all seem really great about lauding the virtues of those you have traded with, so this should not be a problem to work out. Not everyone here has the inventory or the resorces that some of you lucky people do, but hopefully by the time the next pass rolls around, I will have had the oportunity to share some of the generosity that you have shown me.

Have any Marine buddies close to Kentucky DD?

I have quite a few in Virginia and even more in North Carolina.

I do have some angry hillbilly cousins in Kentuky and Tennessee that wouldn't mind.......

I don't think I should call them yet.

I too will be glad to send a few sticks to help out, as I posted before. You all should finish the pass. Then we could start a new one. Id love to be considered to be part of the next pass. Just let me know to whom I should send them if you'd like my help.

You gotta watch out for them angry hillbillies from TN. I would know, I used to be one of em. :D

Box Pass

I like everyone else thinks what happen sucks and a shame one person ruined it. I've only been around since last October and would some day like to participate in a blind box pass. So please don't rule out us new guys on the block. I don't know many of you but feel that I do becasue I read more than I post.

I might want to join the next box pass (or the one after that) and not be rejected for being new guy in fear of being the next Syntax. Devil Dog is roughly a two hour drive away in San Deigo, I would be willing to meet him and kill two birds with one stone on that leg of the box journey. Provided its ok with DD and everyone else envolved.

Oh, one last thing... Capt please do not leave because your a valuable part of this fourm.

Everybody,

Lets do the prudent thing and wait a bit before jumping up and down. Alex/Syntax says the thing has been sent and I know for a fact that sometimes the USPS can be slow in making deliveries. Certain routes have extraordinary delays for some odd reason.

After another week or so, if the box does not show up, then we can go about re-creating the original Blind Box Pass and getting it re-started and on it's way. Until then, I think everyone needs to break out their favorite "relaxation" stick and smoke it.

Agreed.
