Son of Blind Box Pass

RyJ Exhibicion No. 3 is about $8.00. I think it's fare to trade any Qban for a Qban (as long as it's not machine made.)

. . . Qbans aren't that plentiful and when you can swap one for one you ought be able to take advantage of it to be able to smoke something different.
I agree with dbrad4d. What about the rest of you guys?

I agree. This way I can go for that......

Damn; the ERDM Choix supreme is gone.

Oh well. There is that St. Louis Rey to go for.

Kevin snaked 2 of my puts....Coooooool!

BTW, the Choix REALLY ARE supreme. I LOVE them! (Not quite as much as the PSP2, but they are waaaaaay up there.)

Kevin's Graycliffs are always good smokes. I should'a told him to send the box back to me.....grrrrr.

Well, I am snagging that RyJ! Brenda, you get the box after me so.... Would you rather I put Monte #2, Monte #4 or ERDM Choix Supremo? hehe, not sure if it is fair for you to get to choose, but at least this way it is all above board....besides you had my contest in the bag until Quag snaked you by 3...hehe

Ok, then... Since this is my first time in the box pass, I am going to post my prospective takes and puts (based on the current inventory Dean posted) now, even though the box has not arrived yet...this way you all can review it and I have time to make changes if neccisary without wasting more of everyone's time..... ok, this is what my planned takes and puts will be:

Takes:

Graycliff Red Label PG
Perdomo Reserve Champagne C
Arturo Fuente Opus X Fuente Fuente
Reo Robusto by Patel
Romeo y Julieta Exhibicion No. 3 (Qban)

Puts:

Mike Ditca PGX by Graycliff
Perdome La Tradicion Maduro 'B'
Arturo Fuente Opus X Reserva D' Chateau
Gurkha Class Regent Robusto
Monte #2 (Qban)

If this sounds ok, then I can get the box out as soon as it get to me...

Box was shipped via Priority yesterday afternoon. I don't have the DC number with me though so I'll post that this morning/early afternoon.

I tried using the automated machine thing like I always do, stupid thing wouldn't let me put both insurance and delivery confirmation on at once. So I asked the guy that watches it in order to help people and he went to show me how to do it and it wouldn't even work for him. So he went to find his boss and she tried to show me. His way was apparently wrong but then her way wouldn't work at first either. She had to back the session up and start over for it to finally go through. All this took about 15 minutes--longer than it would have taken if I had just gone to the counter. Either the people are poorly trained or the USPS sent out badly programmed and untested machines. Neither of which scenarios bodes well for the future of the USPS. Sorry, end of rant.

I know what you mean - I hate using those automated machines, both at the post office and at the grocery store, when it is almost always faster for me to just go through a real person.

For shipping though, I never even go to the post office anymore. You can order priority mail boxes from their website and then you can print your shipping label and postage from home and then just drop it in a mail box. Easier, faster, and less hassle (no legal worries about carrying in a post office either)

Is this a fair put for take?
Take: Opus X super Belicoso,
Put: Padron 1926 no. 6

Going by c.com prices, the Padron is $7-9 cheaper than the Opus X depending if it is a Maduro or natural...

I didn't mean to rain on your parade....My thinking is that this way the value of the inventory continues to grow as it goes along. Not only does this ensure that the last person has as good a selection as the first person, but also that Dean ends up with more that he started with... just a perk for putting it all on the line....But this is just the thoughts of one person, I gladly go with the group on this... Sorry if I am preaching to the choir here  8)

It just one of hose things that is kinda weird. Cigar.com has prices over the MSRP; and I get my cigars at MSRP. So I wanted to ask the members of the pass what they thought fair value is. No offense was taken on my part Spider. You are speaking for the good of the pass which is good for everyone who is involved.

Yeah, I know what you mean... when you start talking about some of the rarer cigars, there is some grey area...Sort of like with the Genghis Khan Churchills I asked about earlier...not really rare, but you can't buy them individually, so it requires an output of about $300 to get one...so not sure that an even 30 way split of the box price is an acurate assesment of value... I would be interested to hear some of the other members' thoughts on situations like these...

I guess my thought would be that, as the price gets higher, the allowable price difference can get bigger. So, for me, the Padron 26 would be an ok replacement for an Opus X as long as they were fairly similar in price.

But that's just me - and either way, I probably won't be doing any of those trades since I don't have any cigars I could put in for that price! Heh

Well, for what it's worth, here's my opinion:

We agreed to go by Cigar.com prices if they carry the cigar you're wanting to take or put.

If they do not carry the cigar then I would check other web sites (JR's, CI, Famous, etc.) and see if they listed a MSRP and use that. If all they have is a box price then divide it out to get a single price.

If it is a cigar that has a rarity factor to it, ask for opinions. The main objective is to be as fair as possible to everyone without tying up a lot of time.

I think Spider has figured it out pretty well. To avoid confusion I will pick something else that is a clearly not up to question.

Phish,

I personally don't have a problem with the Padron '26 for Opus swap. Opus I can usually get. I haven't seen too many of the Padrons in local shops.

There are lots of expensive cigars out there that aren't hard to get, just expensive. To me that doesn't equal a cigar that is truly rare and hard to get.
