The wise and knowledgable brohter Vince posted a thread about this subject on cigarwise, but it did not get much response due to the tumbleweeds tumbling over there. So I'll try to revive his thread over here.

What are you planning for Valentines day as far as gift and thing to do go (not too grafic please, I know what some of you look like and don't need the mental image of old fat dudes (myself included) rolling in the sack)?

Christine and I are going to have a quite dinner at home. Some nice tender filet mignon and steamed fresh asparagus. Some grand marnier creme brulee and a good bottle of red. I am thinking a bottle of eschol ranch cab sav. A really good bottle of wine for the price (around 13 bucks). I am dying for a good glass of red wine. I haven't had a glass since Tuesday and I'm starting to get the shakes. As for gifts, we are giving each the gift of fitness and bought memberships to the new gym in town. Just 40 bucks up front and 10 bucks a month. You can't beat that. I'll probably also get her a dunkin donuts gift card as she never has cash for coffee. We aren't going crazy like we have in years past where we break the bank to try and out do each other. Only the malls and hallmark wins in that game.

I got my cigars by accident , I opened the box when the UPS man left it, she wasnt home to inrersept. I did get her a birthstone ring , but havent given it to her yet, she is a BIG Lucy fan of the I love Lucy fame , not lucy van pelt of Peanuts . & I found a wrist watch with the candy factory action & I gave it to her all ready, thinking It MIGHT make her want to get me some more cigars , or maybe .................. but like you said you dont want that image hahahaha Enjoy, Vince

Today is my wedding anniversary. Gotta get this outta the way first. Then I'll worry about Valentines day. :)

But I know for sure, no cigar gifts from my wife, as she doesn't like it.

Valentine's Day is THIS month?.....OH $HI!...lol

I have to say Phish... Gym membership and Dunkin Donuts together just sounds too funny...I love it!

BTW, I love a good Cab too. My go to is Sterling it's the Cab that I judge all others by.

We are heading down to dinner with the kids and a Rutgers Women's Bball game against Villanova. Not too romantic I guess - but she doesn't seem to mind. I guess I better get off my fanny and start shopping for some gifts.

VEGAS, BABY!

I'm taking the family to Vegas. My in-laws will be there and they want to watch my daughter while my wife and I have Valentines to ourselves! 8)

The wife and I just do dinner every year. This way I can save money for my cigar habit.

We are eating dinner saturday night at Pete Millers in Evanston.

Ah......Valentine's Day. For the 30 years that I have known my wife I have booo hooo'd the day. I call it guilt day. A chance to make up for a bad Christmas present or something. My anniv is in January so it seems like by Feb. 14 we are burnt out on Holidays. BUT! This year, because it is our 25th year of marriage, I called ProFlowers and 2 dz. Long Stemmed Red Roses are gonna land on our front door on Tuesday. Call me romantic or something, but I really can't imagine how she has put up with me for so many years. Two kids raised and gone. We are looking at eachother and trying to remember how to be Brian and Terri instead of Mom and Dad. I'm also going to BBQ some nice Steaks and toss a baby spinach salad with dried cranberries and toasted pecans. This got a bit longer than I had planned, but that's what old Food has planned. 8)

I bought a bottle of La Reve by Domaine Carneros on our honeymoon that will be enjoyed and a box of assorted truffles by Lake Champlain.

One of my wife's favorites!

I took my wife to dinner tonight, cause with the kids running wild with school. Going out Tuesday just wont work. I got Terra a gift cert. for a swedish/deep tissue massage. She works really hard and is a bit worn down. its been a long winter for her. She mentioned that she'd like to have a massage, So it seemed like it would be perfect. I'll also get her some candy, and a card.
I hope she got me last weeks Friday Special. I love the RP Edge Corojo, and the REO's.

I am single so I will be drinking and smoking at a yet to be determined bar. I think I'll whip out my "wierd" sticks for the occasion. I've got a couple c.com Barber Poles and a Drew Estate Naturals Egg waiting to be smoked. I'll be flying solo (most of my friends are married at this point), so I figure I might as well bust out the attention getters. I'll take along a couple OpusX and Flor de Olivas in case an attractive single lady or someone else (respectively) asks me for a cigar.
Hmm... maybe I'd better pack a Macablando as well in case of sexy novices. Hmm... anyone have any good mild stick suggestions? Mild really is not my thing. So far Macanudo has been my default for buying cigars for non cigar smokers, which usually means a bachelor party. Oh, and no C.com Cameroon labels (yeah, you know who this is for) since they probably wouldn't get here in time and I'm not ordering any more for a few weeks unless the Friday special is really great. I have too many singles to try and my humis are getting to the point where I have to worry about saving space for specials, plus I don't do small orders due to the shipping charges.

I'll be all by my lonesome, working.

I don't really care though. I hate Valentines Day too--just another hallmark holiday to me. It is my late grandmother's birthday though, so I'll smoke to her for sure. Her nickname was Blondie so that would be perfect but I can't stand Acids.

The last couple years Karen and I have gone to a Fireman's ball in Livonia, Michigan. It is a charity for MD, the tickets are expensive, but it is a great time, and the money goes to a good cause. They have silent auctions, raffles, and the kids with MD get up on stage and speak. Seven course dinner and two bottles of wine. Oops, almost forgot to metion the free bar..... If any of you know a cop or a fireman, you KNOW how much they can drink. 8)

I am in a bit of a quandry this year. This is our first Valentines day married to each other, but my wife is 8 months pregnant with twins and this is making things difficult. (For all those questioning the math, we got married 9 1/2 months ago) The taste of food from a restaurant ( no matter how good) makes her sick, booze is off limits, she doesn't like chocolate, lingerie is only going to make her think she is fat, and getting around is difficult.

I think I'll try and get one of my single unattached friends who is a good cook to cook us a fancy dinner, complete with candles, flowers, etc. Then maybe we will go see a movie as she still seems to enjoy that. I would like to take her to a bed and breakfast for the night as there are alot of them out here in michigan, but my class schedule wont let it happen. Maybe we will go this next weekend.
