What did you drink today?

Today at JR Cigar in whippany while smoking a Fuente 858, I drank a bit of bookers from the Jim Beam small batch collection.

I decided to get out of this thread...since we were veering off the topic....

La Fin Du Monde
the foil on the top also says "unibroue"
what made me buy it was where it said "triple fermentation"
its a canadian Ale. I found it was a bit on the hopsy side for me but still good.

the discription on the back reads as follows: the excellence of tripple fermentation through a blend of of special yeasts gives this malt beverage la fin du monde (the end of the world an exquisitely robust flavour of exceptional refinement.

it shows a picture of a glass that is round and bulbus, much like a brandy sniffer. I want a beer sniffer... i drank it out of my frosted pewter mug. this beer was lighter than i thought it would be in color but had tons of sedament. I recomend it if you prefer ales.

I do enjoy that brew, it is one that I have cataloged

Name: Unibroue La Fin Du Monde
ABV: 9.0%
Style: Abbey Tripel
Reccomended Glasware: Trappist glass, Tulip
Date: 9/19/2006

The sediment is from the bottle conditioning. In my opinion it's one of my favorite canadian beers. It got an overall score of 3.3 out of 5

corsendonk abbey brown ale.

very rich and very dark. (if you can see through it, it isnt beer) smelled very smokey and tasted very chocolatey. quite good.

I tried the Bowmore Legend tonight. It's been a while since I tried the Bowmore 12, but I definitely did not see much, if any of a drop-off. Definitely worth the money, IMO. Vince, thanks for mentioning it.

Tried my first taste of that new bottle of Pure Kentucky that I mentioned getting on the other thread. Something wrong here, NOT Pure Kentucky-ish at all. Lots and lots, and LOTS of wood. No problem with wood, but that's not like the signature profile of the Pure Kentucky I know, 10 or original 12 year old. Wonder if I got a bad bottle? The last sip or two did taste a little winey. Something "off" about the taste all the way through. If the second and third tastings come out like this, I think either I got a bad bottle or Pure Kentucky's got some splainin' to do.

blue moon winter ale.

i like the original blue moon on those hot summer nights when too much flavor is bad and now ill have a blue moon for the winter. It could use a bit more flavor over all but it isnt bad.

I also had a Sam Adams winter taster pack. they were also ok. the one with cranberry isnt all that good but it was worth a shot.

I am currently trying the Aberlour a'bunadh I bought yesterday with a 5 Vegas A, celebrating the latest Saints victory. Oh sweet Jesus is this a great scotch! Easily the best whisky I've ever had. So many flavors that I can't possibly categorize them all. Some fruit, one flavor that's almost floral, little bit of smoke. It's some amazing stuff. 120 proof with only a small splash of water in it and no burn, just a little warm. Amazing. My highest recommendation.

Kuzi, I couldn't agree more. Blue Moon is my ALL-TIME favorite wheat. Did you happen to try the BM Pumpkin?

no i havent tried the pumpkin. Im kind of afraid to. im just worried that the pumpkin will be a bad pumpkin

if you like blue moon you should try Hoegaarden Wit.

its good stuff.

i had the sam adams black lager.

i think thats what it was called.

quite good. very chocolatey and not overly hopsy

Last night I finished off the last of my Jim Beam Black. The S.O.B put up a fight, but I won. I think.

Last night I had a bottle of an Anheisuer Busch product called Winter Bourbon. A nice winter ale with hints of Carmel and vanilla. Nice and long finish for a beer. I like it. I wouldn't have more than one though, that caramel flavour could get to be too much after a while.

Well, last night was my girlfriends holiday party, that was held at The Manor, in West Orange here in the great state of Jersey. Started before dinner with the Glenlevet 18, then after dinner moved to Oban. First taste of the Oban, not sure which one, or if there is more than one but it I liked it.
