Where to get a Humidor?

Check out how many cigars you're smoking these days, and buy BIGGER than what you think you'll need. If you don't really mind, you might end up like me and having four 50-75 count desk tops. I once thought that I might wind up going whole hog for a cabinet someday, but I've decided that even if I do fall into that financial category in the future, I'm happy to stay where I am.

Desk top humidors can really brighten up a home. They are small, beautiful furniture pieces, that can easily be moved around according to preference if you like an ever changing look in your home. They can also be strategically placed more permanently in order to bring a long lasting beauty to certain areas.

I'm going to post the list of my favorite cigar web sites which I know to still be in business. Then, I'm going to post a link to a strictly humidor web site that I've been following for six years, never ordered from, but know many people who have. All have been satisfied.

Wait for a lot of opinions to come in, because there are a lot of fine, knowledgeable people here. There are also a lot of newbies who have still acquired an amazing amount of knowledge and experience in a relatively short period of time. They have fresh ideas, great perspective, and have done valuable research. Old hands like me, especially when you're a boring old man to begin with, have a tendency to come across a little stale sometimes.

I'm often enthused to see people half my age who just started smoking cigars two months ago, come across with ideas and suggestions that often get me wondering what I've been smoking.

eBay is always good and I've heard good things about cigarbid.com. Always buy bigger than you'll need, don't buy a humidor with a humidifier on the lid, get a fully lined spanish cedar box, don't trust an analog hygrometer--buy a digital and calibrate it. And if you're lazy like me, you can't go wrong with a cigar oasis humidifier. You don't need to fill it but once a year usually.

a cigar oasis is an electric humidifier made especially for cigars. it has two settings, one for 65% and one for 70% humidity depending on what you smoke. There is a fan on the top to distribute and and circulate the humidity evenly and it usually lasts 6-12 months depending on the size of the humidor. I have one in my frigidor and its great.

Here is one I bought off of Ebay for less than $35 + shipping. It was sold as a 100 capacity. Who knows. I haven't got 100 in it, but it might hold that many. I won't buy another one any smaller.

I already have a 50 and a 15 capacity as well as a couple of ABS travel humi's.

Buy a digital hygrometer if the humi you buy doesn't come with one.

yes digi is the only way to go, the analogs are always way off.

I have that exact humidor - it has worked very well - replaced the analog - no matter how nice it worked - with a digital and have been very happy with that. Right now I have about 70 sticks in there with some room for more.

I was lucky with both of my purchases over the net (I have a smaller one). I got mine from cheaphumidors.com.

should have mentioned that the refill lasts 6-12 months. You don't have to buy a new oasis each time.

I've purchased from ePay, cigar.com and tampahumidors.com, and have not had problems with any of them. The cabinet from tampa had some chipping on the bottom and they sent me a new one in a couple of days to inspect before I returned the first one. Never paid any return shipping. If you know cigars are something you'll enjoy, get 2 or 3 times the capacity you think you'll need. It'll save you some money down the road.
And like the others have said, you MUST get a digital. The only good use I've found for an analog is as a makeshift hockey puck :lol:

Listen to everyone about buying bigger. I screwed up when I first started smoking and bought too small of a humidor and then my next one was too small also.

Right now I have everything so packed in that it is hard to get to the smokes that I want. If I had been smart and bought a very large humidor I wouldn't have these issues.

I bought two from cheaphumidors.com years ago. They work great and they are beautiful. Glad to hear they're still around. By the way, the "count" number of a humidor usually refers to how many corona sized cigars they will hold. A corona is usually about one inch longer than a robusto and a little thinner, like about 6x46 or something like that.

2 of my humidors came from an ebay seller selling dented/scratched humidors still functioning. theres barely anything wrong with them other than slight cosmetic that you would only notice if it were pointed out. you can find some awsome deals on there.
