Boveda packs

hello, just getting started and got a humidor as a gift. I used the water pillow or whatever they ship wiht the cigars and put in for a few days. RH went to about 78 for few days so I took it out and using a small credo. is that good enough for seasoning ?? cant tell how well it is holding because I keep looking in box to check it.

Do you have any sticks in there while you're trying to season it?

If so, get them out!
Put them in a ziplock with the water pillow and season your humi.

Just get a little cup (around 1/8-1/4 cup) of distilled water and place that cup at the bottom of the humidor. Let that sit for about 3 or 4 days until your hygrometer reads 69%-71% steadily. If it holds that reading for 2-3 days then it's good to go. Then just fill the humidifier with distilled water and/or put the Boveda pack in and let your cigars rest!

That's what I've done for my humidors.

Oh yeah, welcome to the forum!

no I held the cigars out while I was doing that. thanks for info and the welcome. enjoy just reading all the various comments about smokes and other info

Stick around...you'll get A LOT of good info.

Get it..."stick" around! HAHAHA I crack myself up! :rotflmao:

(Damn I'm a dork!)

DevilDog I am going to try your water cup technique for seasoning. do you use those boveda packs instead of humidifying device in your humidors and where can you get them thanks for help

The boveda packs are apparently more stable for using to humidify rather than the thing that comes with most humidors.
Here is a link to one place that carries them: http://www.cigarsolutions.com/bovedapacks.html

After it's seasoned I use both. With the Boveda it takes care of the humidity. If you have too much it'll suck humidity in, not enough it let's it out. They're a wonderful thing.
My tobacconist told me to use both the Boveda and the disc it came with. The cool thing is you don't have to monitor the disc so much. Just every once in a while put some distilled water in it. I fill it about once every month and a half.
The reason you keep the disc is so you don't have to put 2 Bovedas in there.

Does that answer your question?

syntax, i didnt forget about you.
i have been so ubsurdly busy, i will post the details in a later thread
