Happy Holidays!

Last night I made our family traditional X-mas eve dinner....
LASAGNA!

My parents lived in New York back in the 60's. Their neighbors were Italian and that was their tradition. My mother adopted it and we have been doing ever since.

Slow cooked, homemade sauce for about 8 hours!
Cubed pork chops, mild and hot italian sausage and ground beef for the filler!

The big pan weighs in at 10.3 lbs!

Made several little ones as well to freeze for later!

Well, I'm off to my brothers house for the day. Won't be back on until later tonight so, Merry Christmas everyone!!

Well...we won't be haveing Lasagna (am I in the minority?) I think I will be lucky to eat anything at all this weekend, got home from work last night with a case of the flu. I was delivering parcels this week, and must have picked it up somewhere.

Anyway we are doin the turkey thing, and some friends are bringing a ham - we are going all out! The best part is the turkey leftovers, mopre relaxed, and just good food!!

Enjoy the food everyone!

My family really doesn't have a traditional meal that we eat. Well a turkey dinner, I guess that could be traditional. I did make some kick ass french crepes last night. My family loved them.

Mexican Food

yep, I going to my mom's and she's gonna have tamales (green corn and cheddar for me), mexican rice, fresh tortillas and fresh cooked pinto beans (my fav.)mmm Oh, and Bunelos* it's like fry bread with syrup or powdered sugar.

*the "n" should have a ~ over it.

I don't really cook so I'm really looking foward to dinner tonight.

My Grandmother is Sicilian and my Grandfather is Northern Italian from Taino. My mom side of the family is Irish.

Brenda, One year my wife made Mexican food for thanksgiven. It was one of the best thanksgivens.

Happy holiday severyone.

Now that would be a nice meal to me. MMMMMMmmmmmm.

Have you ever had an elote? I think that's how its spelled. Anyway its an ear of corn dipped in melted butter and smeared with mayonaise and then its sprinkled with paprika. We used to sell these at my school but ended up buying most of them ourselves

I love fresh roasted corn with lemon juice, salt and bottled salsa (like Cholula hot sauce.) When I visit my grandmother in Mexico, I always try to go to the fresh coconut stand. They have fresh coconuts on ice. They chop the top off give you a straw. After you drink the juice you hand it back, they cut it open, carve the coco off the walls, squeeze lime juice in then, you can add salt and hot sauce. Soooo gooood.

Geeze, Happy Holidays, All. I've gotta go, I'm hungry now.

Can't wait to go to Mom's tomorrow. Fish for Italians on Christmas Eve!

Same here. Being half Italian and half Sicilian means a real fish-fest on Christmas Eve. This is what I remember:

Lots of wine :D
Salmon Tartare for an appetizer
Jumbo shrimp wrapped in prosciutto
Fried calamari with an aioli dipping sauce
Spaghetti with sardines, fennel and currants
Lemon pepper baked Tilapia with Beurre Blanc
King crab legs and lobster
Mango and Dragon Fruit sorbet

No real dessert to speak of, however today will be a different story.

Enjoy the Holidays everyone!

MMMMMM, Baklava, one of the worlds great deserts, but then again, I don't think I ever met a desert I didn't like.

Man! its been a while since I've chimed in. Soo busy this time of year...work, kid, woman,etc,etc,etc...lol. I have been enjoying cigars nontheless. Merry Xmas, and happy new year to all!!

P.S.. I'm one of the newbies to the site, and habbit...errrr....indulgence. Just joined the site, and enjoying cigars within this last year or so. Think I've only posted a handfull of times.(slaps wrist)

We have a huge latino population here in Oakland. I go to the fruit stands and like to get mango with it soaked in lime juice, sprinkled with salt, and chile pepper. So good!

Welcome to the circus, I mean forum, SJ Mark feel free to throw your 2 cents worth in, but since we are all talkinga bout fooe, what did you eat last night for Christmas supper. I seem to be the only one here who has the traditional turkey - but we played Monopoly after, it was a blast!
