Ok I am totally frustrated. I used to work on cars all the time. Key word used to. I had to replace the gasket for the thermostat housing on my 99 dodge ram with a 360. I figured no big deal I have done that before with ease. So I print the pages I need from the PDf service manual I have and it doesn't look too bad. I pop the hood and the space is 5-6" wide and about 7" down. I think ok this will be a pain, but I got it covered. I end up breaking one of the bolts and I am thinking crap. So it is 7:30 at night on a Sunday and the only place open is Home Depot, so I buy a black and decker screw extrator. I drilled and installed the extractor and it snaped too. Now I am going to have to pay about $120 for a tow truck and probable about $300 to get it fixed. All of this could have been done for $150 by the auto shop.

I am done working on any modern vehicle. I just don't have the time or the expertise any more.

OK I am done whining.

Fricken gun bunnies!

Sorry, man......saw the opening, had to take it!

hehehehehehe

If a "real" 08 means you said, "pull string, go boom!" then, yes, you were a "real" 08.

I was just a real SMART 08!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

FDC - Fat Dudes Chillin', Fresh Donuts and Coffee.

Actually, I never set foot in an FDC. Once I got to 1/11, I was sent directly to Survey. Long range recon stuff. Did my entire time there. A LOT more exciting than sitting on a radio and playing with maps, I can tell you.

Being with Survey I had the pleasure of going down to the gun line a few times to watch what you do and, on occasion, pull string, go boom!

I did not envy you guys I can tell you that. Too loud and too hard.

In combat there's no better job to have than Survey. All on our own, four 2-3 man teams beyond forward lines. Nomads of the battlefield.

Good times.

I got smart and tired of the 280 days a year in the field. At my 2 year mark I went to the carear planner and said what is this new MOS I am hearing about with computers. Six months later I was in Quantico becoming a computer geek. I thought i was done with Arty, but what is my first unit HQ for 12th Marines arty in Okinawa. I am so glad I lat moved as I would not be where I am today.

I have another FDC one, but I will not say with ladies around.
