I tend to think of myself as a pretty repectful person trying to never bother anyone with my cigar smoking but today I am going on the war path. I dont know if any of you have heard of Max and Ermas but never eat there. It is Ruby Tuessday, TGI Fridays type of place.
I walk in and ask the hostess if it would be alright if I smoke at the bar and told her I planned on smoking a cigar. She said "of course thats fine" I pull up the the bar and fire up a camacho. I then proceed to order my lunch and read my FHM magazine. Great articles this month.
Now about 1 inch into the cigar when the GM comes over to me and explains that I cant smoke a cigar there. I asked him, "can i leave without paying?" When he asked why I said I just ordered my food and the cigar is worth as much as the food so if I was to stay I would eat free becuase I had to sacrifice my cigar or I could just leave and enjoy my smoke. He said not and we exchanged words. I guess I drew some attention from the other patrons during the argument. I guess in the end the buffalo chicken sandwich sounded to good to pass up and I was hungry. Apprehensively I put down the cigar and told the manager that they should post a sign and not tell me it is okay if they are just going to change their policy at will.
Things got awfully queit in the bar/ smoking section after that and I could not help but overhear two girls sitting accross the room say how much they hated my cigar and how glad they were that the manager asked me to put it out. They further went on to explain to each other how cool they thought they were becuase they complained and that is the reason I had to extinguish my cigar. At this point I was half way through my sandwich and had had it. I approuched the girls and explained to them that I have enough respect for non smokers not to sit in their section and light up and I think they are not showing me the same respect by sitting in the smoking section and complaining about the fact that I am smoking. They choose to sit there. She said something in reply but I was so mad I could not even concentrate, I proceeded to tell her how fat she was and how she should had no business being in a food serving establishment.
Needless to say this envoked some tears and the manager was quick to come over and ask me to leave. But hey I did not have to pay the bill.
I am usually not so mean but I cant take these anti - smoking poeple any longer. This means war.
