Coffee Box Pass?

I brewed up a pot of both the coffees I got from Brenda and Kelvin - they were both very good and ones I hadn't tried before. I love fresh roasted coffee!

oh yeah, Go Steelers!

I'm looking forward to doing something like this again.

Brenda - thanks for the 2 cigars - I've never had either and I've been looking forward to both!

Got in the coffees from Cybrus and Capt. You guys are the best - thanks for the great smokes too! I will be having 2 pots of coffee for sure tomorrow.

Thanks again folks!

Kevin

Capt - thank you for this idea - it's been great!

Got Capt's coffee today - definitely looking forward to a pot of this tonight!

I don't know how I lived without a Freedom Press (TM Bloofinton Inc)

Thanks Capt for starting this - we'll have to do this periodically!

Cybrus, that Ethiopian coffee was, well, different. Funky, and bold, but I liked it. I also tried the coffee from Kelvin, and that was good too. I am going to brew a press pot of Brenda's first thing when I get home in the morning. Thank you all for participating in this first coffee pass!!!

Thank you, Capt, Cybrus and Kelvin I got your packages of coffee and smokes. I can't wait to brew 'em. I'm looking forward to smoking those sticks, too.

I have this coffee cup drip thing (I don't know what you call it.) It's this cup that has a filter that fits on the top. The coffee goes in the top, you fill it with hot water and. . . presto! Coffee for one. It makes really good coffee. And, this way you don't have to brew an whole pot.

Thanks for doing this, guys. It was fun getting all of those packages in the mail. IT'S LIKE CHRISTMAS!

Capt - yeah, I hear you on the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe - it is different. I thought it would be good since I've only seen it in a few places.

I brewed up a pot of yours last night and definitely enjoyed it - now I just need a second taste test with a cigar to accompany it!

Capt:

Had the Costa Rican coffee yesterday - it was great!! I am brewing some up this afternoon to have a smoke with a buddy. Great pick.

I will try the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe tomorrow..this is cool.

One of us...one of us! Wasn't that on a Simpson's episode?

I have tried everyones coffee now. AAWESOME!! Those are some of the best picks ever. Maybe when things around here calm down, we can do it again. By here, I mean my life. I just got a order of sticks in, so I will share with everyone on the next pass. I think next time I am going to sent out the Kauai Peaberry. That coffee is unbelievable!!

Just finished my first cup of the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe - another excellent cup of coffee! Thank you Cybrus! I have one to go - the African from Capt - I will break that out tonight - one of my best friends is coming over and his wife is a coffee freak.

Great job guys!

The African Safari was excellent! My buddy's wife had 3 cups of it tonight! It was really smooth.

I enjoyed each and every one of the coffees that you guys sent to me. Thank you, again! And thanks for all of the advice. I would have never thought that making the coffee stronger actually helped to eliminate the bitterness!

My new coffee maker recomends 1 tbs of whole bean coffee per 5oz of water. Should I be making it stronger than this?

What kind of coffee maker is it?

It also depends on how fine the grind is.

With an Autodrip I use two level tablespoons of coffee per 6oz. The grind is semi coarse (like the texture of really coarse sand paper.) I buzz the beans in the blade grinder for about 15 seconds.

It's better to brew strong coffee and then add hot water. If you use too little beans then you'll get a bitter brew.

I have the Cuisinart drip coffee maker that grinds the coffee directly into the gold-tone filter basket. So I am measuring unground coffee. And I have no control over the coarsness of the grind. Measuring would be easiest, but I could weigh it too...what do you suggest, and how much?

Spider, just fill the grinder to the MAX level, and you will be fine....
