I posted in the thread "Music and Cigars - Choices and Recommendations" that one of my favorite combinations is this:

cybrus said:
Location: Sitting on the front porch - 50 degrees and grey
Activity: Relaxing with the wife and/or the dog, watching the planes fly overhead
Beverage: Steaming mug of Kenya AA coffee and a small tumbler of good scotch - no ice, no water
Cigar: Monte #4 or ERDM Choix Supreme or anything Camacho
Music: Dire Straits album "On The Night" - live versions of lots of their best songs

Now, for the contest part - it is based on that album.

The winner of the contest will win a "50 degrees and Grey" package:
One copy of Dire Straits "On The Night" on CD (still in the wrapper)
One cigar from the group listed
One small bottle of scotch
One Quarter of a pound of Kenya AA whole bean coffee

You'll have to supply the wife/dog, front porch, and the weather (though if you're in the Pittsburgh area, you're welcome to come over and use mine - er except for the wife part...)

The contest will run until Friday, April 14, at Noon. The winner will be the person who guesses my favorite song from that album. Tie breaker will be which song, off of that album, I was listening to when I posted this (hint - not the same song)

Hopefully the winner will also be a Dire Straits fan - would hate to waste an excellent CD!

Favorite: Walk of Life

What you were listening to that night: Calling Elvis

Fav: Money For Nothing

Listening at that moment:Walk of Life

I don't miss the grey and 50's of the burgh though...you could come join me, the wife, and my dog here on the porch with blue skies and 82 degrees today!! 8)

Don't I wish we could! It's actually very nice here today - I'd say the temp is in the 70s which is very nice considering the snow just last week. And I'm sure my dog would love to meet yours. She is very friendly and has a ton of energy!

Clarification - already had one person ask me how many guesses. Meant to put that in the main post.

One guess per person.

All good songs mentioned so far!

Has anyone else heard this specific album? It's a live recording from 1992.

I have...Thought the remastering made a nice difference and that it sounded pretty good for a live album!

Seeing that Phish copied my main answer for Favorite song ("Money for Nothing)", here is my guess for what you were listening to:

"Walk of Life"

Favorite: Heavy Fuel

Listening to: Every Street

Heavy Fuel is about a guy at work. He actually lives like that and if you listen closely you can hear them say his name in the chorus. I just dropped it into my CD player so I could hear it.

There you go!

Oops... sorry Eclipse.. duplicate answers there.

So, what you were definately listening to was:

"Calling Elvis"

Fav. walk of life
listening to. money for nothin.

I really like Stings contribution to the song

I received my package today as a winner in his last (karma) contest, so I will not enter this one.

Thanks cybrus - awsome package!!!

Interesting - I hadn't noticed that one - I'll have to put that song on again!

Glad to see there are fellow Dire Straits fans here!

I am really just kidding about that one. It just works so well to put his name in there instead of "you wanna run cool". But that said, I love the Dire Straits, Mark is one of the smoothest guitar players that I have ever heard.

DOH! Oh well - I can't argue with you about Mark's guitar being smooth.
