I Sent In My J.C. Newman Renewal Yesterday. . . .

I got my cigars today (Monday), and a letter apologizing for the fact that the shirts are currently out of stock, but that it will be shipped in the near future. How do you like that? I've been a member for what, six, seven years? Every year I blow the trumpet, sound the call, renew my own membership and do my best to get as many new members as possible to join, because it IS . . .

the right thing to do. :sm_angel:

So what do I get? I get my cigars AFTER everyone else, and it's almost July and I STILL have to wait for my shirt!!!

:cryinlaugh: :rotflmao: :pumpkin: :cryinlaugh: :pumpkin: :pumpkin:  :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh: :duh:

Oh wait, I get it. They go alphabetically. Heyyyy, my last name is only the 16th letter in the alphabet, I'm still nowhere near the end.

OHHHHHHHHHHHH, . . .

hold on just a second!!! I've GOT it!!! They're going by AGE!!!

We all remember that passage from the Bible.

"He who is oldest shall be LAST!!!"

I am so old, my yearbook picture is in the Bible, Bloof.

It's worth the wait, though - nice shirt!

I tried to join but they don't allow non-US people in the club, shame as it is a handsome golf shirt, ideal for the 8th at my local club - any advice guys ?

They WHAT?!?!??!!! What's their reason for refusing your membership, especially a U.K. brother from across the lake? You guys are getting killed for Iraqi Freedom, too.

:dunno: :dunno: :duh:

I know it's just not cricket Bloof (lol) I am not sure why they person I just spoke to on the phone said NO

Cricket is a great game. Babe Ruth was reputed to be one of the great cricket players of all time. And it's played quite a bit in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, a borough of NYC. I know people from the Caribbean who love to go hang out in the park, enjoy good food, sunshine, and watch the cricket matches.

As for the J.C. Newman membership, I'm going to try to find some things about that out. I may be able to glean something from their web site, or contact DocBarry, who knows everyone, and has the inside scoop on everything. He can also find out what he doesn't know offhand.

I sent them an e-mail with my member number in the subject line. I have received an auto-reply, telling me that it has been forwarded on for further reply.

OK I bit. Bloof has been shilling for this for as long as I've known him (five years now? damn). The golf shirt put me over the top. and Vince, real gold shirts don't have pockets.

Sorry to hear our buddies across the pond can't take part. Hopefully Bloof and doc can scare them into doing the right thing.

Mike

I don't like cricket. They make too much noise at night.

How about one living in your bedroom for three weeks, and every time you get close, it goes back into it's little nook? I get them in my house once in a while. I don't like to kill them. I kill ants, that's about it. Actually, my Combat traps kill most ants, and I use a citrus based solution on the perimeter of my house.

But getting back to crickets, occasionally one will find its way in. I hate that, because I can never catch them, and if I did, I'd just put them outside. I'm trying to help them, because what happens if they stay, is they will eventually die. I even try telling them this, but they are too elusive, and although I do my best at speechmaking, I eventually wind up finding them upside down out in the open somewhere.

Stupid crickets. Your food and water are outside. Ever have a cricket IN your bedroom, making that noise all night and part of the day, calling out to its friends outside in the yard, going, "help, get me out of here!" I love crickets and the sound they make, but six feet away from me INDOORS is a BIT disturbing.

Yeah, that cricket needs to meet the bottom of a shoe...

Nahhhhh. I could sleep through WWIII. The problem is, I am human, and there were a couple nights when I couldn't sleep through the noise. I couldn't bring myself to spray something into the nook it occupied, so I just let it go on. I also knew that if it didn't let me catch it and put it outside, it would die some day soon. It did. I found it a couple days ago, upside down, dead. I'm wondering if Maxine helped it's death along at all. Not all cats play with bugs, or all bugs. At any rate, the house is quiet again inside. Poor cricket. He could be out singing with his brethren.

think I am going to join, I know some of you said the shirt was sized on the big side. I sometimes take an XL so do you think a L will do for the shirt. :?:

Based on recent experience, YES!

I am continuing to follow up on TheSiDog's attempt to get into the J.C. Newman Club. Since receiving the auto reply to my e-mail on June 27th, I have heard nothing yet. Just wanted Dog and everyone else to know I'm on the case. Hopefully, I'll get a real answer that will make some sense as well.
