My new car!

DD,

Be glad you did not get the Hemi --- My wife has a '04 Durango with the Hemi and going down the interstate you can dang near watch the gas gauge move when you are doing crusing speed. Around town, we get about 6-9 mpg and on the interstate we will get 10-14 mpg.

The '06 Durango has the Hemi with the multi-displacement setup that is supposed to get a tad better milage. We live on top of a hill in a rural area that does not have any municipal services (like street plowing in the snow) so we have to have a vehicle with 4wd/awd. We are going to get an '07 vehicle this fall, and are looking for something that gets better gas milage than her Durango. The one my wife has on her radar is the Ford Freestyle (re-skinned Ford Five Hundred) w/awd. Sucker gets 15mpg city and 19mpg on the highway.

Bloofie --

Only saving grace is that I have a "company" gas card, so I do not directly pay for my fuel. I say directly because it is a company expense and being a family corp, I do own part of the company. Both of the vehicles in our household are at the top of the list of worst gas milage vehichles on the market ('04 Durango w/hemi and '05 Expedition). Average gasoline bill for those two alone is around $150+/week That is not as bad as our 24' flat bed delivery trucks. We have 5 on the road and with the high cost of diesel we have been paying about $1400/week!!

Right now I'm getting 10-12 city and 14-16 highway. Swear to God!

With my '00 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 I usually have to pay about 60-70 dollars in gas a week. It sucks. I also have to drive about an hour each way to work. Not fun, until I got my sirius radio.
