My New Frigidor Build

if they are cold lights, maybe its not the lights themselves heating up. if thats the case maybe you have a bigger problem.

They were they only thing on besides the oasis, so if it's not them, there's some weird cosmic force I've channeled into my humidor.

Plus I felt them and they were warm to the touch and I could also feel the heat ratiating off of them. Its weird and I don't like it, especially since I've not only put a lot of effort into installing the lights, but even more so, a lot of money. If they do it again, I'll replace them with new some extra lights and inverters I have. If they do it again after that they're going in the trash.

The fridge is now steady at 63% and is pretty much ready to be loaded once the base is done. I have it all done except for running the wires for the fans and lights inside and connecting them.

Mostly what I worked on today was installing a motion sensor in the front. This way, when I walk in the door, the lights will come on and stay on for fifteen minutes after there is no more motion in its beam. So the lights will come on and look good when I want them to but turn off when I can't appreciate them and also not be on long enough to get warm again.

I have to say...that is the most intense thing I have ever seen. I think that I've fallen in love.

I was going to wire everything up and load the cigars in today but my power supply crapped out. One thing after another...

quagmire,
i must say, that is the new hotness. i bow respectfully to your prowess.
i have been toying with the notion of building a cabinet myself (a glorified desktop really)
where did you come up with the cedar? i'd say thats really the only thing holding me back at this point -- and a few hundred bucks...
again man, looks great

Thanks. The cedar I bought on ebay from a hardwood supplier. All told it was about 115. Probably 75 for what I actually used.

All done, loaded, and almost totally full! Guess I'll have to make another sooner than I thought.

Very nice. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get another. I filled mine up right away.

Simply the most coveted piece of machinery I have seen thus far. I am thoroughly inpressed and further, speechless. . . .WOW

I'm going to retrofit my old one with a thermoelectric cooler I made. Mainly just for fun but if it works, the yay for me.

Quag,, I think your humi looks fantastic. One potential problem I see is the middle trays are not going to get a lot of air movement or moisture to them. What have you done about that or do you not think that it is a problem. With the trays filled up I could see it being a problem.

I've thought about this a lot lately actually.

There's two and a half inches at the back for air flow. Then there's a fan at the top that blows air down and one at the bottom that blows up for ten minutes every two hours. The trays are all filled but the back of each one is relatively clear, so that leaves a couple slots open there. Plus each one has the handle openings.

Even so, I'm thinking about drilling some holes along the sides and back of each one. Its also a PITA to get the trays out as I'm sure you can imagine, so I'm thinking about putting some full extension slides in. If I do, the needed clearance for the shelves to slide will give me a little extra airflow underneath as well.

Plus I'll be in there every so often taking one out, so that will rotate them around a little.

I am not raggin on the cooler. I think it is beautiful. it is just something that comes to mind. Nice work for sure.

No, I know. I've been thinking about that since I first got the new trays. It could indeed be a potential problem.
