Well, I joined about a year ago and never put anything on this thread, and I'm bored, so here's me:

My name is Brandon. I live in Norfolk, VA and am currently serving in the US Navy. My job is an Electrician's Mate (Nuclear). Basically I work in the nuclear power plant on the USS George Washington (CVN-73) as an electrician. I've been smoking cigars for almost 3 yrs, pretty much since I turned 18. My favorites include: Danli Reserve, AF Hemingway, Partagas Spanish Rosado/Black Label, 5 Vegas A, Don Lino Africa, and pretty much anything from CAO. Love the forum. I'd be lost in a sea of delicious tobacco leaves if it weren't for the friendly and kind people here.

Well, hell. I went to a forum where I thought I could find answers about a shotgun I'm building and found a cigar forum.

I got into cigars about 2.5 years ago. I've always loved them and just kind of figured it was time to get a few humidors and figure out what I like. I work from an office in my house (building/maintaining data networks). So I can pop open my office window, fire up the fan and light up a nice stogie while I'm working.

My favorites (or at least my favorites that I can afford to smoke on a daily basis) are:

-Hoyo de Monterrey 1066 Excalibur. A great smoke with your morning coffee, especially if you drink it with cream, no sugar. For some reason this cigar goes great with coffee. Never run into that with a cigar before.

-La Gloria Cubana, Serie 5 Maduro. These are great. Not super expensive, very smooth, and the consistency is fantastic.

-Punch Rothschild double maduro. These are a nice little smoke when you don't have so much time. Somewhat spicy. Only two bucks a stick (though you usually have to buy them 50 at a time). And I've never had a bad one.

-Puros Indios Toros Especial maduro. Can be inconsistent. But when they're good man are they good.

-Arturo Fuente 8-5-8's. What more needs to be said? 8)

Welcome Ben :)

858 maduro's and Punch Rothschild double maduro's are among my favorites, and the LGC #5 maduro is quickly becoming one as well.

BTW, I like your interests, hehe

Yeah, never quite sure what to put in all those fields when signing up for these things . . .

Sounds like you're a maduro fan too? I love those little Rothchilds. They're always good and aren't a 2-hour commitment.

Have you run into anything else good in that category I should try? I'm feeling the itch to put in an order to Cigars International. Kind of feeling like I should try something new.

And I'm putting an exhaust fan in my motorcycle shop this weekend. That'll give me three indoor places I can smoke. Life is good.

Welcome, Ben.

Try the Hemingway Short Story with coffee (45min to 1hr smoke.) Cigar.com is a great place to try new stuff (you can buy singles.) The La Gloria Cubana, Serie R No. 4 is one of my favs I also agree with Paintbrush the 5 Vegas A and the Partagas Black label are great.

Welcome and have fun!

Glad to see you finally made a formal intro, Ben! :)

The Hemmingway SS is great! But when you're on a budget, the Cusano 18 is also great. Cigar.com is an awesome place to try a variety of different sticks.

Thanks, I'll take a look at Cigar.com as that seems to be popular here.

I'm smoking a Perdomo factory second right now that I got from Cigars International. About a year ago I bought two boxes of them and they were absolutely wonderful (and at about $1.30 a stick you couldn't beat them). So I bought a bunch more and this time around they weren't nearly as good. I guess you can't complain when you buy seconds. But I was hoping for more of the first ones. Makes me think I should try some labeled Perdomos to see if I like them.

I'll try the Short Stories. I think a buddy of mine here is big on them too, so he may have some I can try.

Ben

Welcome to both of you guys!! Just hang around here long enough and you will be as crazy as the rest of us. The singles thing is a great idea to start with, and sometimes you can pick up some good samplers, and that gives you a good way to try all kinds of smokes.

Right now my favorite is the Indian Tabac Super Fuerte Maduro, and since no one else has mentioned them I'd thought I would throw in a plug. A nice fairly strong flavoured smoke that won't cost you an arm and a leg.

There you go, enjoy the ride!

Hi All. I have enjoyed brousing around this site and forum, so thought I would register and introduce myself. I am new to the cigar world, and am just starting my journey in finding some favorite cigars. I look forward to reading more of your comments, and welcome any advice you all may have.

Cheers!

Welcome Spider, and Happy New Year!

I remember when I first began my journey into this wonderful world of cigars. So many brands to choose from, and not enough time in the day to try them all.
I sure wish this forum was around back then, but then again that might have proven to be more expensive

Spider, welcome to the forum. Any questions you may have, just ask. These are some of the best people around, and very knowledgable. Browse the forum, and read some threads on favorite smokes and drinks, and questions that others just coming into this "maddness" have asked.

Welcome, Spider66! I, too, am new to the cigar world. I started smoking cigars in September. This forum and everyone that posts are so helpful. This is a great bunch of Stand-up folks, here. I really enjoy reading everyone's likes, dislikes, favs and other experiences. It's definitely a friendly bunch. One piece of advice I have for you is (if you don't already) keep a cigar journal. I save all of the bands of new cigars I try, and take note of aroma, taste, construction, appearence, where the wrapper, binder, filler are from, price. It's very handy to look back on and see how your taste developes. Have fun!
