Hi Zack and Matt. Welcome and make yourselves at home here. I'm a newbie too. I'm convinced that cigar smokers are some of the nicest guys you will meet. Read all you can in the forums especially in the Cigars 101 section, and ask questions!

Hey Now!
Welcome fellas!
DO get involved in the PIF and Fun and Games threads. They are a great way to get some new/different smokes, and also to build a bit of a "rep". We have a number of fossils around here ..(cough Gord cough) But guys, I will tell you straight...
This is the best bunch of folks on the net!

A few of us chatted with Big Matt the other night, seems like a nice fella, but then, we thought that about Barcochris as well...(what a mistake THAT was...)

Anyway, as you may have been able to deduce, we like to have a little fun around here, and smoke some quality cigars at the same time.
So again, Welcome!

Hey guys,

My name is Jeff and I live in Detroit, Michigan. I am 18 years old and will be starting college at Central Michigan University this summer.

I have really started to get interested about cigars after my spring break trip this year. I have smoke cigars in the past, but just the machine made Phillies, White Owls, Swisher Sweets and things like that. I'm just starting to learn and have been researching for about 2 months now and I'm looking to get started with maybe a sampler and a small humidor. I don't have a whole lot of money to spend because college is right around the corner, but I do have money to get me started. I want to get off the the right foot and do this right so if anybody has any suggestions, I'm open for all the ideas and tips that you may have for me.

I'm hoping to gain a lot of knowledge from people that have experience under their belts, and I think I've come to the right place.

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff, if you're looking to get started in cigars, this is a great place to get info. There's a Cigars 101 section that includes info on buying a humidor, making sure your hygrometer works, keeping your cigars moist, etc. If you're looking for great cigars, we typically post what we smoke and buy, so there's tons of great ideas. And if you have a question and don't find an answer you like, there's tons of great people here that are happy to share what they know.

Welcome, Jeff!

Hi, Ben here. about me huh, well here goes, 33 yrs old, live in West Texas, i'm a board operator in a chemical refinery, married going on seven years, four kids one son three daughters, like to hunt/fish, watch Texas Tech & local HS football and recently have taken up cigars although I don't know much about them. Welcome all you new guys. Its good to have you here. Don't hesitate to get into the Pay It Forward and Fun And Games threads. It's a great way to try some new stuff and get to know the guys around here.

Welcome, you will learn more than you can imagine here. I learn something new almost everyday from the people on this site.

First off - great site!

I've been a lurker for 3 or 4 weeks and finally decided to become a member and post.

37, CA born and raised.

A friend described me as a beginner with an old mans palate. Not much time in smoking but enough to find certain niche's. Love Ghurka's and Rocky Patels but am really broadening my horizons. Have even smoked a few of those real QBan smokes. Favorites have anything to do with a Maduro wrapper and I have to say the RYJ reserve maduro is my current "in love with it" cigar.

The only good advice I didnt take when I should of was - "buy a big humidor".......

OK - walk-n may be a bit much. Fridgedor is right around the corner though  Lets see 150 count desktop to full blown coolerdor and beads to regulate everything while being monitored by digital salt tested accuracy..... <sigh>

BTW - everything is full to the brim too. I'm starting to think a 28 count Avanti isnt going to be big enough......

i try not to read this thread because it reminds me that i should be buying another humidor... i keep spending my budget for cigars on cigars and not another humidor.
im not askin for much. just another 120 ct or so.

Hi there

Hi all my name is Adam. Im a Auburn student who discovered the wonders of a good cigar and a nice glass of 12 year old scotch. Im just starting to get my humidor full, right now I got with the cigar.coms, cusano 10 series, gurka legends, vegas 5 series, and some olivia de flora. im an avid rockclimber and whiterwater kayaker, so if anyines near auburn and wants to scalle some mountains send me a line.

Hello to everyone, my name is Jim. I live in NY. Been smoking casually for a while now but just got out of college and started a real job (Accounting) so decided to start buying some good smokes and try to discover my palate. Bought a 50 ct humidor (which after reading through some threads it seems like it may be too small) and just purchased a bunch of cigars. Picked up some 5 Vegas, Cusano, Gurka, Padron, Perdomo, and CAO to name a few. Gonna try some out and see what I like and start grabbing some cases (after I buy another humidor first ofcourse). Looking forward to talking wth you guys on here. Jim
