No earth quakes & easy access to single malt & cigars !

way to cold in the winter, & they are right on a fault line, remember the quake back in the 60's ?? Oh I forgot your just a kid hahahaha

Actually, that does strike a chord, Vince. Some things that "Kid Bloofy" remembers from the 60's.

(i) I remember listening to Dean Martin's "Memories Are Made Of This" on the radio. Can't tell you what year I was listening, but I remember where I lived, and since the song came out in 1959, . . .;
(ii) Although I was quite young, only four years old, I remember the huge hullabaloo surrounding the 1960 election, and that Kennedy won in a squeaker at the last minute, and that many people were very suspicious around me, even though they were for Kennedy;
(iii) I remember when he was assassinated, very well, on 11/22/1963, and;
(iv) last, but certainly not least, the blackout in NYC of 11/9/1965.

Of course, I understand that doesn't quite compare to Vince, who was actually present at the signing of the Magna Carta, haw, hawwwwwwwwww!!!

Yes, little known facts for you denizens of the EOTAC Cigar Forums. Vince was also on hand to welcome Columbus to the New World, but he was a bit heavier than he is now. Ben Franklin performed the first electro-shock therapy on Vince, and his body became less able to absorb large portions after that, so that's why he's no nice and svelte today, hee, heee!!!

dont forget my time on the ARC hahahahaha

sorry for the delay , I had some log in problems , ENJOY, VINCE

POST NUMBER 2000 !!!!!

Good Morning, it is Sunday OCT.5,2008... did I say OCT? dammmmmm it is OCT all ready, I am not ready for it yet ! well time marches on & believe it or not we have passed the atuminal equnox & the season has changed from Summer to fall, winter to fallow dammmmm , well its the cycle of life , seams just like yesterday my daughter was in diapers, & here we are , she has 2 boys of her own, Time flys when you are having fun !
the cold snap has driven the stink bugs inside, what a mess, Raid seams to slow them down but dosent kill them on contact, like when you spray a wasp , BAM it falls to the ground in an instant , thses bugs just keep going ,like the energizer bunny..... first freeze they will be gone till spring, , I think I will have the attic fogged & the bathroom exaust fans detoxified , the little buggers come in the exaust fan some how & end up in the light , what a mess ! so lets move on to the VP debate ... OK enough of that !
Globial warming.. ...... yes we have it if it wasnt for global warming I would be sitting in an ICE field right now, the great lakes were formed when the polar ice cap MELTED in the last Ice age , back just a few hundred years the LA basin had smog in it before the white man ever saw the area , so lets not get in to a heated arguement about globial warming & the smog that we are making with INDUSTRY, , this BIG blue ball we live on will take care of it self, ............ here I am in the PITTSBURGH area , over time we have been covered by the polar ice cap & warmed by the tropical waters as remements of palms & ferns have been unearthed here , at one time it was tropical & in an other time it was artic, well if that isnt NATURAL I dont know what is !!!!

OK enough BS lets get down to the milk & cookies , Friday Night we hosted a NUB & Oliva event at the shop, it went well for a Football friday night , & we are goint to do it again this comming Friday night with H.Upman maduro & Omar Ortez cigars , & we plan on doing a different tasting every Friday night along with the BYOB party we have every friday, we went through a bottle of single malt & 3 pots of coffee ( just for the customes ) I had ONE all by my self, I drank the good stuff & gave the moochers the Maxwell house .............. half of them wouldnt know a good cup of coffee if it slapped there Momma , adding 3 packs of sugar & a quart of milk to the half cup of coffee , , , , , , , they must be butterlys & taste with thier feet !

Lat week I got a day with my #1 grandson & this week I get grandson #2 , nothing like quality time goofing off with the grandsons , just the 2 of us doing what ever they want to do, I aked #2 where his favorite place to eat was , hoping he would say my place but he said SCHOOL !!!! DAMMMM the ladys in the Barfatouum rated higher than McDonalds Burgherking Wendys or even red lobster, I felt slighted BUT he is only 10 & thinks Mac & cheese comes out of a little blue box ...............

I have been bitten by the new car feaver bug, I keep looking BUT dammmmmmmm the prices I have a 2000 Sable with 170K on it , I am getting 20 MPG on it , it is comfortable & PAID FOR ................

wall street ............... I know why they are called brokers, Bail out my stinky ass , 300M people in the USA, Give them all 2 Million bucks each in cash, cost 600 M but NO we got to be socialist about it & bail out the fat cats to the tune of 700 billion or MORE,, hey were was Uncle Sam when Drexel Burnum Lanbert took 950K off of me with the junk bond king Milken , the rotten basted paid a 3 BILLION dollar fine & shut down DBL & spent 18 months at a federial country club & still had 5 Billion in assets in off shore accounts the government never did get any of it.... am I pissed , you betcha

On a lighter note I have a nice set of TBONES & some late corn on the cob to go on the grill later today, seams like all we eat on Sunday is beef, , chuck roast in the winter when we can fire up the oven & steak when its time to grill, but the boss is a beef lover so thats what I make her, can you believe it we have been married almost 40 years now & she still wants her beef well done ..... a tuff hunk of leather dry & taste less, when I am slurping down a raer or medium rare juicy hunk of beast , but she will not budge .... my parents were the same way my dad wanted his DONE & my Mother was a rare person (in more ways than one hahaha ) well I grew up seeing both ends of the scale tasting both the rare & the well done, no need telling all of you the outcome is there hahahaha, KNOCK off its horns whip its ass & SERVE it MOOOOOOOOLISHOUS

I craced open a few "ISOMS" this week & enjoyed the series D # 4 as well as the Hoya Solomon , both were great smokes but nothing alike the hoya way a much bigger smke but it didnt last that much longer than the smaller series D only about 20 minuts difference in the time of the 2 cigars but at twice the size , , , , , , well I cant say which one was better, like back when I was dating a few different girls , they all were great in Bed hell I was thankfull for anything at that time of my life , being young & dumb & full of .......... you get the idea , well anyway they were all good, who was better, ??? I have no idea , I would have to try them all again today hahahaha , yea like the boss would let that happen hahaha, oh yea I could smoke the cigars agin, , , , but it might still be a toss up on them ! hahaha
Not much else going on here in da burgh .... OH SHIT last night was the 250 anniversery of the incorperation of the city called PITTSBURGH , FIREWORKS , from 17 differnt launch sites in the city, some from the tops of the sky scrapers in the downtown, some from barges in the rivers , from the bridges crossing the 3 rivers in Pittsburgh , a tribute to Fred Rogers & the people who made PITTSBURGH what it is today ..
Time for more KNOA & a Don Carlos #3 ...... Enjoy, Vince

Vince, just wait until those grandsons start bringing home their own kids. Nooz Fum Da Burgh will never be quite the same, ha, haaaaaaa!!! Sorry I was unable to help, but didn't see your e-mail until Tuesday, as I was crawling back in to bed. Glad the post made it up finally. Don't know what it is I have, but linguini with barely cooked garlic and oil, hot sauces that make tabasco look like ketchup, and 125-140 proof whiskey are what finally got me up and around this week. Still pretty sick, feverish, heavily congested chest, bad sore throat. A friend of mine contracted pneumonia from this, so it's a bad one. Hope none of you get this one.

Looking forward to tomorrow morning's news, and Vince, congratulations to you and all the Roethisburgers out there on your 250th Anniversary. And can you confirm something for me? Is there really a recipe out there for something called . . .

The Roethlis-Burger? Is that weewee twoo?

the Rothless-burgher ; 2 pattys of ground beef , bacon, egg,2 kinds of cheese, lettuce ,tomato , RED ZONE onions , pickels & of course Hinze spicy brown Mustard, the french frys fo right on the toasted bun & so dose the cole slaw , RIGHT IN THE BUN ala Permandys sandwich shop ( a PITTSBURGH LANDMARK sandwich) a splash of tabasco is optional ...............

Good morning it is Sunday 12 Oct. 2008, A wonderfull clear cool morning in Da Burgh the grandsons were here AGAIN & playing on the computer, I am having one Hell of a time getting things back to what I want , the size & blodness of the type set, yes I am OLD & cant see the small print so well anymore & they want the littkle print so that they can get more on the page , well it is a constant battle & short of getting them there own computer to use here ( hey now thats a great idea) , yea a used computer from the good will store, puts money in the pockets of Goodwill & gets the kids off this machine & lets me keep my settings as I need them ! Capital Idea , payday I am going shopping, BUT I all ready have a computer in the Qtr.Deck but it is in the shop with a virus , I might just be able to send them out there & let them use it, but then if I want to sit out there with a cigar & do my postings I will have the same problem I am having now, , dammmmmm in this tight econemy I will be going out & spending my hard earnred cash on a third computer, maybe I should just get a laptop for my self & let them pound out the games & BS on this one, , I could take it to work & play solitair , & never have to shuffeelll the cards again hahahaha
well it is a great strech of weather we are having here in da Burgh , looks like the prognostacater of the weather channel said we might hit 80F on monday , dammmm time to get out the shorts again , the trees are slowing changing color going from a wonderfull lush green to a golden yellow, orange & RED , it is a beautiful time of the year but then they all fall off the trees & the rake comes out & the blower comes out the leaf grinder comes out & the work starts , but it makes great mulch for the garden , I cant wait till the grandsons are big enough to run the power equipment & let me RETIRE in comfort hahahaha , I started looking at the SR. high rise appitments , but the boss isnt budging on the idea, I was shot down as soon as I mentioned it , going from 3 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms for the 2 of us to one bedroom & one bathroom is way to much of a down size for her & I kind of like having my own bathroom, I can sit & read all day long if I want ! hahaha
We are heading to her sisters today, I get out of cooking & all I need to take is a cheese tray & some crackers, so last night I went to costco & got a few blocks of cheese & now all I need is the cheese cutter , & a jar of spicy brown mustard & a few grapes for garnish & a little time & I will be done, we are having chilie con carne , burgers, dogs & some sausage , I might make a pizza on the grill if I get ambishious & make some dough before we go , but that sounds like a little more work than I want to get into today , BUT it will taste good , dammmm I love the smokey taste of pizza on the grill, but all that work , dammmmm I am in a no win argument with myself, ..... got to think this one out, do I want to eat & share this great pizza with EVERYONE , or do I just forget it & go with out? .................. looks like I will be making a dough ball shortly hahaha I am a slave to my taste buds !!!

the shop is feeling the down turn in the stock market the 12/15 bux a stick market has fallen off dramaticly but the 3/5 bux a stck has increased , looks like the amount of sticks per day hasnt changed all that much but the total income is down, looks like a 25cent price increase to keep the profit up is comming hahahaha , BUT we are faced with a NEW 1 % tax , the school in Monaca & Center TWP have merged & Center has a 1% mercantile tax on the gross of the store & since we have been taken over by the TOWNSHIP we are going to get stuck with the tax , well I am looking to sell the building & moving to some place thats a little more tax friendly , well if I start to make cigars there I can be a manufacturing source & exempt of the mercantile tax ............. HUMMMMM sounds like I will be rolling tobacco soon , I cant wait to see the look on the school boards faces when I file for the manufactures exemption , we have a glass plant in town & they do about 30Million a year, well 1% of that would be the 300K that this tax is bringing in now in center twp. will when you add all the shops in down town monaca they are going to tripple the income of the tax so they just exempted the industrial sites & dropped the bomb on all the small guys , the toy shop in town is all ready moving out & one of the insurance agents is getting ready to move if he had to pay 1% of his coverages it would be more than he makes a year . sinc ethe tax is based on gross sales & not income, if he sold a 10 million dollar insurance policy it would cost him 100K in tax, he tells me last year he took home about 70K leaving him about 30K upside down in the tax dept, time to take back the country from the fat cats & let the little guy make a BUCK here & there , I can see why drug deals are so high , NO FRIGGING TAXES PAID ON THE INCOME ! dammmm the POLITICS PISS ME OFF ..

I ran out of my home rosted coffee this week at work & stopped at the local grocery store & grabbed a pound of 8 Oclock orginal blend & brewed it up at the shop, every one asked me what happed to my coffee , it was different , no one said if it was better or worse just different ........

time for me to fire up a second pot of Kona this morning that first one was great & the Don Carlos #4 this morning just wasnt enough , so it will be back to the number 3 Monday morning, I do have a nice old contraband monte corona for after the chili this afternoon, made a little Basil Hayden to go with it , I had a weee dram of it Thursday night , not near as sweet as Knob creek & I like that a lot better , bourbon is just way to sweet for me , not that I dont drink it on occasion but I would rather have a Laugavulin single malt, but the basil wasnt bad at all, .............. Enjoy, Vince

Gooood moooorning it is Sunday 19, Oct. , 2008 & we had out first frost of the season last night , the trees are a beauitiful gold & red & the sky is BLUE the grass is still Green & it is just a Wonderful time here in da Burgh , I am not a big fan of the fall season But it is so pleasing to the eye, I know the winter ice is not far behind & I hate winter, I hate the gas bills & the electrict bills in the winter, I hate the fact that i need to start my car 10 minutes before I need to go to work, (thank GOD for the remote starter) , maybe I should just build a garage hahaha
well I dont think that is going to happen any time soon. ............. Well I had a great time this week , worked at the shop all weeksmoked a LOT of fine cigars, I worked the alphabet this week started with Alcazar , finished with a Zino last night , I did try to do it in order , but i did skip arround a little , maduro was a sticking point for me, I keep going back to them , But in the morning I still like to start with the Don Carlos #3 , How ever there isnt a cigar that starts with X , Q was no problem , Quarm, Quintero & Quinteso ....... No OPUS starts with O not X , BUT it was as close as i could get !
.................. Did you get to see Sara on SNL last night ? she has a real sence of Humor ............ taken for what its worth , no matter how you vote, it was funny, & yes I know Humor is not what we need in DC but for those of you who remember Richard Nixon , who did a skit on Rhoan & Martins "Laugh IN" back in the 60's or was it the 70's , so long ago I forget, hey i have a lot of history to remember, I lived it , most of you guys just study it hahahahaha
......................the grandson are still messing up the computer but now they KNOW to set it back to my settings, I tried to set up 2 users on this machine & all was fine till they logged off with out changing the font size , well i thought if they logged off as the rugrats , when I logged on as myself the fonts would go back to the way in had them set, But it didnt work! , well now they know , so i dont need to go to the school pick one of them up to come up & change it back again ... Dammmm smart ass kids , hahahaha .............. Last night I was the MC for the local LIONS club fund raiser dinner, , I had an over cooked slice of Prime rib , I asked for it RARE but they didnt have any it was all done to medium well or well done, I just dont like well done beef, Knock off its horns whip its ass & serve it , MOOOOOOO , tender juicy & TASTY , not dry tuff & chewey, well it was Free hahahahaha & beggers cant choose what they get , So I shut up ate some of it , drank the 12year old scotch out of a coffee cup , they didnt have any brandy snifters, or any DECAFE , what kind of a hall is this, NO snifters & no decafe, hey I got to get some sleep some time & after 4 Pm I switch to the NO LEAD & all the old folks that were there I bet over half of them were on BP meds & asked for decafe ............ Sanka Instant was all they had & they ran out of it before the dinner was even served ... POOR planning on there part, & NO SMOKING in the dining room, I had to go to the bar to have a cigar, this place is HUGE we had less than 200 people & get get 700 in for Bingo , High roof , you can play basket ball in the place ( 2 full coarts ) , but NO smoking . bunch of whimps !!!! , well next year I dont now if i will be the MC again, I might just need to be at work that night ... what ever night it is !!!! , the staff was frendly BUT SLOW , people at one end of the room were eating there Ice cream all ready & I was still waiting for my salad ! ....... Good thing I had the scotch !,
I left the house with three , 3 finger cigar carriers & 2 more cigars in my shirt pocket PLUS a fresh Hemmingway classic in my mouth when I left the house, I was ready for a long night ! , an even Dozen cigars , when I got home I had 1 cigar left, dammmmm MOOOOOOCHERS .............. I gave my self the day off today No cooking( after breakfast ) , I am heading to the local catering company & picking up 2 stuffed porkchop dinners ........ dammmmm its fun to be lazy hahahahaha ... ................Monaca, Pa ( where the shop is located ) had there fall fest on Saturday , a 5K run, fire trucks & the high school band & alkl the political asshats running for everything from US CONGRESS to the local dog catcher were in the parade both partys R&D were in full swing, no fights but I bet there were a few who wanted to trade a punch or two, it was a lot of fun BUT my regulars wernt able to get to the shop as the main street was closed to traffic, well you cant expect an 85 year old guy to walk 12 blocks from the parking lot to the shop & then after 2 cigars a half pot of coffee & a few shots of single malt & have to walk back to his car, dammmmm he needs help in when he parks right out front! hahaha well with the shuttle bus out of service we didnt get many of the regulars BUT we did get a lot of new faces, to bad they were not cigar smokers, but we had one of the only rest rooms that we allowed the public to use with out buying anything , no one wanted to use the porta johns on the street, , , , , , Can I use your bathroom, sure I said, then I get a call hey there no paper, theres no towels, theres no soap, dammmm full was in the broom closet pissing in the sink................. & one more PET PEEVE , dammmmmmm DOGS , now dont get me wrong I love dogs but when a customers brings in his MUTT & it lifts its leg on one of the leather chairs , its getting kicked in the ass then the asshat leaves with out cleaning it up, I rolled out the mop & bucket & got the guy going down the street & I held the leash of the dog when he went back & cleaned it up.......... ASSSSSSS HATTTTT , a 4 year old HOUSE broken MUTT , I have No idea what bread he /she was a mix of, all I know is NO FRIGGING DOGS IN THE SHOP , Unless its a Guide dog , some of the regulars always bring there dogs & I have never had a problem with any of them as long as they sit or lay down & dont bother anyone , No problem BUT if your dog wants to hump my leg bark at customers or use a chair like a Fire plug, YOUR OUTTA HERE !
Thats about all I have right now so From Da BURGH to you , Enjoy, Vince

ALRIGHT, VINCE, RIP ROARING NEWS FROM THE BURGH!!! Tell it like it is, if your dog's going to piss in the shop, you're not allowed. All dogs must behave, and so must the people. Enjoy that store bought, stuffed pork chop dinner, you've earned it, and I see you've finally got some discipline happening around that computer. Good, we don't want to lose our favorite newscaster.

As for me, I'm dealing with my Bialetti stove top espresso maker these days, instead of the French Press, and I love it. About three weeks ago, I broke my third French Press in the past few months or so, after not breaking one for a long time. Well, money's REALLY TIGHT, so I decided that I'll wait to buy another French Press, and besides, I love espresso. Nice to have it at home, and the Bialetti is great. Thank God for stainless steel!

It's time to get ready for football. Ahhhhh, thank God for autumn, football, and 12 hours to hang in front of the TV, get filled up, and get filled up on football. I have a Zaro's pumpkin pie in the fridge. They finally whipped them out this past week, and lo and behold, the economy's so bad, they put them on sale right away, so I only paid $7.95 apiece for three 8" pumpkin pies on Friday. I was VERY happy at that. Bad economies do come in handy at times, ha, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! Ate one Friday night, gave one to my best friend down the block, a diabetic, and the third one is waiting for me to dig in some time later this afternoon.

The espresso is ready, football is almost there, and so am I. Have a great day, EOTAC!!! God bless you all, God bless America, and thank God for VINCE!!!

Good morning it is Sunday the 26th of OCT., 2008 a wonderful day here in da Burgh the Sun is out the sky is blue & the wind is a bit cool but it is the end of Oct. so we are right on track for the season, the trees are just spectacular , reds ,golds & oranges of all shades & hues , just a fantastic landscape out there ......... we did go for our Saturday night Cigar ride last night & saw 3 huge Does & a 12 point buck , just wondering accross the road about 9:30 last night , they all looked well fed , & were in no hurry to cross the road, just a snort & off they went into the next field ..............

This mornings coffee is a Moca Java roasted to the first crack , I now wish I had let it go just a bit darker , & I will next batch, the Sunday morning Kona was all gone about 6:30 this morning along with the Don carlos #3 , but for breakfast this wonderful Sunday I grilled a few English muffins , sliced some Hot pepper cheese added a little crisp bacon & an egg to the mix & a breakfast sandwich was on the table with the moca java coffee & since today is Sunday & it is Cool outside the BOSS wants a Hunk of Beef for supper so I have a Chuck roast defrosting & will get it close to the heat soon. ....................

the shop was slow all week with the stock market doing its roller coaster ride the sales of the big buck megga smokes is down, & the sale of the bundle stuff is UP , guys are still smoking as many sticks but just cut back on the quality, not that there is anything wrong with bundle cigars , Lord knows I smoke a TON of them , dammm if it wasnt for somking seconds & rejects ,overuns & blems I would be BROKE I am averaging 10 sticks a day & even at the wholesale price its gettin 'SPENCIVE !!!

Thursday was #1 grandsons 13th Birthday , a nice celebration was had with Pizza & wings , his favorites & he was pleased with the turnout & the gifts, at his age now CASH is KING , , so I gave him a choice the envelope or a 10 dollar bill for every year he was old , well wats in the envelope, hahaha cant tell you, do you want to take a chance ? could be just 13 bucks in it , might be 13 cents , might be 1300 bucks , so what will it be ............... he took the 130 bucks & guess what was in the envelope? the same 130 bucks hahahahahaha , what he is going to do with all the cash i have no idea , maybe a new I pod or some other hunk of junk I have no idea how to use !! hahaha ...............
well the Boss wants me to help her remove all the furniture from the back deck & put them away for the season, get out the leaf rake & snow shovel along with the rock salt for the drive way & walks , drain the gas from the lawn mower & take down all the spinners & windchimes from the back deck, looks like summer is OVER !!!!

Not much else happening here in da Burgh , other than PENN STATE winning again ....... Steelers later today with the Giants ............ should be a fun game if your into football hahahaha Enjoy, Vince

Steelers-Giants was indeed a fun game, Vince, as I sit here with my Monday morning cigar, a Gurhka Symphony Robusto No. 4. It was like an Ali-Frazier fight, and the Steelers remain one of the five best teams in football, despite today's loss. What a match. I'm heading out shortly to Athens Cafe for baklava and carrot cake. Hope they'll be open. I've walked in at almost 2 a.m., but can't do that all the time. Now that I have a hankerin' for it, I'll be really mad if I'm late, ha, haaaaaaa!!!

Baklava & Carrot cake , hummmmmm, lots of Sugar , Honey, cream cheese icing , better have a LOT of coffee to go with it all. hahaha

Good morning it is the First of November, the second day & it is the first day of Eastern Standard time here in da Burgh, gone is the daylight savings time , what they say they save is beyond my comprehension, but what ever the powers in chgarge think is good for us hahahaha, yea like I amn going to roll over & play dead , but it is the standard we have grown up with & changing times is just a pain in the clock, spring fwd. fall back, just keep it the same & get done with all the BS, when you want to "save " daylight just get up[ an hour sooner , why inconvience EVERYONE , the trains as far as I can recall all run on STANDARD time all year , when I was just a weeee lad my grandfather was a conductor on the Pennsylvania rail road & I do remember there was a BIG BEN clock in the living room that was Rail Road time , not to confuse it with the savings time that the rest of the world was using, if its still like that I have no idea , but thats what I remember ! ...............
the weather here is crazy as a loon , snow last week & the A/C on this week, welcome to Pittsburgh hahahaha , this year is the 250th. Birthday party for the city , ahhhh yes I remember the founding well hahahaha , it all started with a fort at the area now called the Point , where the Monganhelia river , met the Allegheny river to form the OHIO river , & by way the point where the Ohio joins the Mississsippi river the OHIO has a larger flow & by all rights the Mississippi is a tributary to the OHIO & from that point it should be called the OHIO river that flows to the Gulf of Mexico , but since I wasnt there for the naming rights I guess I dont have much of a bitch , but whats right isnt always what happens .......
all Hallows eve has come & gone, there were some Intrestion souls in the shop Friday night , we had visits from Shara Palin & Dog the bounty hunter , as well as a few ghouls & goblins , Donald Trump & a few pro sports players , & I was dressed as a Cigar roller , & did roll a few CIGARS , I know a lot of you sick bastards will read in that I was rolling a few Joints , well I havent rolled any since I was in the Navy , how ever I have mixed up a few good pipe blends since then ! .............. BUT to be honest I just enjoy the hand rolled cigars , I have no idea how I would support myself & my passion for Cigars if I didnt work in the industry........
I never know what I am going to say in this Sunday Morning smoke , I just type what comes to my sick perverted mind , give the readers a little insight to the area & tell you just what I have planned & a review of the past week the family BS is fun & the food stuff is my if you pardon the pun MY bread & butter, as a trained Chef & former instructor I just love to cook, & I love to pair food & cigars along with a glass of wine, a weeee dram of scotch & a pot of coffee , I just love anything that will tickle my taste buds , & I am alway looking for that Perfect pipe blend of tabacco or the Perfect cigar for the morning , afternoon & evening, so far I have been expermenting since 1955 & the reasersh is still going on , right now I have been toying with the Don Carlos #3 for the Morning smoke & I still havent found anything that will give me what I amn looking for better than the DC3 m I did a few days of the Monte white corona , a few days of the Monte Classic corona , but came back to the DC3 , the #4 is close but I like the 3 the best , I have gone from the 11/18 Camacho to the pepin JJ & still come back to the #3 ............ I was hitting the Morning blend pipe mixture from Dunhill for a few days but it just didnt cut the mustard , & the pipe is a pain in the ass to take care of, with a cigar you just Toss the butt way & forget all about it ................ a lot less work with a bigger return in taste, how ever the ladys seam to like the pipe better than the cigars BUT since I am not trying to impress anyone but MYSELF I dont give a rats ass what the ladys want me to smoike , the only lady I have to worry aboutb is my poor suffering wife Barb, 38 years together so far & we have never thought about Divorce , MURDER yes but never divorce !!!!!!!!!
Breakfast this morning was a simple plate of bacon & eggs a slice of toast & a little jelly on half the slice , the first half went to slopping up the runny yoke ........... tonight I have a nice pair of beef slices , think I might make a southern classic , Chicken fryed steak with a white sauce , some steamed veggie of some sort & a few mashed spuds , maybe yams , gotta look to see whats available ............. , it is going to be in the 60's today maybe IU should just fire up the grill & make some thing else .............. hotdogs maybe , bratwurst? hummmmmm Pork chops dammmm before I get my taste buds all fired up I better check with the BOSS to she what SHE wants . I cook for her , 'cause when she is happy EVERYONE is happy ........
the Grandsons were low profile this week, nothing new or exciting happened with them, the dog is doing just fine as any 140 pound mutt can do, other that ripping up all the grass at the fence from running back & forth he hasnt done much of anything but sleep & druel all over everything & every body ................
that new car bug has bitten me again , we went window sticker shock shopping last night after the dealers closed ............. I have 170K on my 2000 Sable , & it looks like I will be keeping it a few more years , shooting for 240K , a Trip to the moon, the Tempo we had for 13 years still have the orginal clutch in it with 213 K on the ticker we got rid of it & I still see it hitting the road some summer days , it is in the need of a lot of TLC to get back to the shape I had it in when we got rid of it , but that was MANY uears ago , some cars just never seam to die but we had a Dodge Aspen station wagon that Died that fatefull day we bought it ! , a new car with about 40 miles on the clock when we drove it off the lot, it ran out of gas before we got out of sight of the dealership , less than a block from the gas station , well after all that on the firs day it was down hill from there , we were going to atlantic City the next month & had the oil changed for the first time right before we left for the shore, , going across the Walt Whitman Bridge in Philly the oil light came on, , 6 lanes wall to wall traffic, I get it off to the side, & pop the hood, the oil filter was leaking & all the oil was gone, well it gets fixed by the local service station, ( theyt sitll had them back then) now all you get is gas & you pump it yourself ... well to make a short story long My Buddy lived in Haddonfield NJ & we were on our way to pick him up on our trip to AC , well his street is a bussy on with a light at both ends of his block so getting out of his drive way is just a matter of timing the lights so you can get out , well, as I backed out & dropped the hammer to go Fwd, shifter from reverse to drive when the back wheels were still in reverse the transmission took a shit all over the road , lots of red fluid all over the place & NO GO fwd or backward, mind you this car has less than 2K miles on it , ran out of gas, had the oil filer leak & then the trans shits its guts , well we had that car a few months & the frame weld that holds the front suspention in place broke & both front tires were sittling at a 45 degree slope pointing at the sky , & now winter hits & the drivers door freezes shut, the Ziebart was jamed in the latch & the door was stuck till it was taken apart & all the guts inside the door had to be replaced, , then less than a year later the froint fender on the drivers side started to rust, seams like th battery cover to keep it warm in the winter had a vent for battery gasses , wll it went right uo on ther bottom of the fender & ate a big hole in the sheet metal , , , , , then they added a plastic hose to vent it down away from the bottom of the fenderm & the hose ended right above the front disc of the brakes on the drivers side, need I tell you how long it took for the front breaks to need replced ? hahaha, well we got rid of that car before it was paid off, , that was the Last Dodge we bought , How ever I have been looking at the Dakota Pick up ................ BUT I keep remembering the ASPEN..................

I am sipping a pot of Moca java right now, the kona whent down smooooooth as always & this is just as nice , well its time for me to head out to the Qtr.DECK & get started on todays top 10 cigars ............
Enjoy, Vince

Why Saskatchewan has no Daylight Saving Time

Saskatchewan listened to the Wise Old Indian.

When told the reason for daylight saving time the old Indian said, 'Only a white man would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket and sew it to the bottom of a blanket and have a longer blanket.'

HA, HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! That's a great one, gcj, great one. Gotta remember that. Vince, I tried to have a Sunday morning cigar at around the time of the clock change. It was a big 5 1/2x60, dark wrapper cigar that I've had for years. Didn't taste all that great, didn't burn well, and although I did get most of the way through it, I eventually tossed it. I'm off for my weekly 12 hour Sunday football and highlights fest. Vince, your wisdom is as wide as the world and as never ending as the universe, but as for the 140 pound dog, yeah, just let it play and drool. Terribly sorry about that car. That's a story for the books, but then again, that's Vince's life, and I for one, am so glad that he comes here each week to tell us all about it. Someone should write a book about this man. As for me, I'm off to turn in to a football headed man for the rest of the day until Tuesday.

Good Morning , It is Sunday 9 Nov. 2008, a chilly wet morning here in Da Burgh we had a Fantastic week weather wise this past week, low 70's & blue skys with the trees all in the Autumn glory of Reds & golds a few evergreens dotting the hillsides it was just what the Doctor ordered to lift the spirits of the masses of people worring about the election & wall street , I have taken the Alford E Numan approch to life , " What Me Worry" , so I lost a few bucks on wall street, warren buffette lost BILLIONS , & the best thing about it is , it will not effect either one of our life styles he will still have his jets & his beat up old 98 olds , & I will still have my Sable with 170K + on it . . . . I look at it this way you can only drive one car at a time , live in one house at a time , smoke one cigar at a time, ( well I have had 2 lit at the same time just to compair) & make love to one lady at a time , ( yea i know there are times when you want to do her & her friend at the same time , but lets face it guys , your NOT superman , & unless your a freek of nature you only have ONE member hanging between your legs , so lets cut the crap & just think about it , sure it would be nice to have 2 or more at one time, just to watch them with each other, but then if that happens what to they need with you ??? hahahaha ............
well back out of the gutter & back to the Sunday morning smoke .... dammm it was a nice little trip into the gutter anyway........... , Lat night we celebrated the THIRD birthday party of the Blowen Smoke Pod casts at Slippery Rock cigars , & a great time was had by all, we had a few sticks to share with the troops with operation Cigar pimps & made a donation to a fellow brother of the leaf who had a fire at his home & lost his Humidor along with all of his "STUFF" , no one was hurt in the fire but it is tuff to loose your home, I understand & know what the guy is going through , in the spring of 1967 our house went up in smoke & I lost a good deal of STUFF , but thank GOD no one was hurt, the insurance covered a lot of it but not all, BUT back then I was still smoking the Drug store brands & hadent Graduated to hand rolled sticks , yea I would have an occasional contraband havana & a few Good cigars here & there , But I was still into the Marsh wheelings & the el productos & havatampas , it was about the mid 70's when I went to the Good stuff & stayed there, well I still have a Marsh wheeling when ever I am feeling nostalgic .. ............
My wife & I were looking at a new car for her , the one she is driving is a 95 Contour & it is starting to show a little sign of USE , the headliner on the sunroof is starting to come undone & the water pump is starting to squeel at times there is a tranny leak , the gas milage is not as good as it was but then she has a lead foot & never did get great milage with it , a little car like that with a DOHC V6 she like to GO , well we looked at a Fusion & a Taurus, the Fusion looks sharp & has all the bells & whistles & the Taurus is equipped the same PLUS it has Heated leather seats ................... the cost is the same for both cars , the draw backs are the LIGHT Tan Interior of the Fusion & the Dark Gray exterior of the Taurus .................. , well I can live with what ever she picks , I like the ride & room of the Taurus & the looks of the Fusion.............. makes no difference to me . I will keep driving my sable till it falls apart, the only thing holding it together is the is the tar & smoke , the seat has a few burn marks , as well as the carpet& console , the headliner is a wonderful color of smoke & the sunroof is now extra dark tint ! the seat has formed to my butt & the coffee stains now are so big the clean spots look like the spills hahahahaha !

I have a PORK roast to go in the oven soon ............ NO BEEF today YEA , so it will get a little liquid smoke & a dash of BBQ sauce & a nice crisp apple for sweetness a baked spud with sourcream & chives & what ever fresh veggie I can get at the local farmers market....
The Boys were here Thursday , Nothing new with them just school & home work , the dog is doing just fine & takes them both out for a drag , the dog is heavyer than both of them together ! , one dog 2 leashes & 2 boys Inside the fence , he is just so strong he pulls me when I TRY to take him out .... just a BIG stupid eating & shitting machine that will love you unconditionaly !

I am getting a Visit from Pedro Gongalezes this week he is the owner of Don Gonzalezs Cigars , he will be in the Pittsburgh area all week , we are going to hit a few shops with specials so if your near the leaf & Bean in the strip district of Pittsburgh saturday afternoon we will be there, friday Night it will be at King Beaver cigars in Monaca Pa , Thursday we will be in Sharon Pa at Penn Ohio Cigars & in Gerrard Ohio at Cordys cigar box , if you get a chance stop & say hi get a few boxes of cigars ..............
Enjoy, Vince

Good morning it is Sunday ,16 November,2008, a Cold crisp day here in da Burgh , a little intermitent snow & some rain are falling & it is windy on top of all that, a down right MISERABLE day , BUT I have the Qtr.Deck all ready & will be relaxing with a cigar & a POT of coffee all day long, I have stuffed porkchops comming out of the oven between 3:30 & 4 , so the day is off to a great start, & breakfast was great this morning , a slice of bacon , & a scrambled egg with a big slab of Hot pepper cheese melted in the egg , & a nice slice of watermellon on the side, , the coolness of the mellon & the HEAT of the hot pepper cheese , made my taste buds dance the coffee was Kona but now I have a pot of Moca Java , later today I think I will try a little bit of Tanzanian Peaberry & a Don Gonzalezs maduro torp. , & speaking of Don Gonzalez , he has been here in da burgh all week we did a few tastings on Thursday , Friday & Saturday , he is headed to the Steeler game later today & the poor guy has NO idea what he is in for, Born in Cuba , now living in Miami , & he is going to the MUSTARD bowl , Hinze Field in the rain & snow, BET he will be freezing by the end of the teams warming up ! , & unless he has a weee bit of anti freeze he will be a solid block of ice by the half !
We finished the BIG @$$ Birthday party pod cast lest week at Slippery rock cigars , the pod cast is now 3!, you can get to the pod cast by going to www.burghherfers.com click on the pod cast link.
NOW on with the news, ... I picked up a new GRAY Ford 500 , well new to me , it was a lease & had just over 20K on the clock, the orginal sticker was still in the glove box & it was well over 28K, I got the car for under 12, & on the way home , the state was painting the yellow lines on the road & sure as shooting , a big sploch of yellow pain from wheel to wheel on the drivers side , didnt even get it home , BUT the heated leather seats are just what my hemroid needed, & they feel good on my behind as well, ( Now for you S L O W people out there reading this , I am refering to my wife as the hemorid ) ............ Just hope she dosent read this hahahaha
Not much going on the gradsons are keeping a low profile, getting it geared up for the Being good just before Christmas ........... you all remember that dont you? hahaha seams just like yeasterday I was telling My mother what I wanted for Christmas, yep Scotch & cigars hahahaha , but back then it was butterscotch & buble gum cigars ............. I remember the Christmas of 57 Or was it 56 what ever it was a LONG time ago , we had about 30 inches of snow on the ground & it was a Beautiful morning looking out the front window & seeing EVERYTHING covered in a blanket of marshmellow cream, BUT then I remembered I had to shovel it all off the walkway & drive way & when the city plowed the street I had to remove the BIG pile from the end of the drive way, so then I realized snow was fun to look at & a real Pain in the lower back to get rid of it , my idea was since GOD put it there , let GOD get rid of it But my mother had a different idea , I get rid of it & she will stop hitting me with the wooden spoon telling me to get out there & shovel it...... hahahaha ....... I still Miss her at times , but I have gotten out of the habbit of picking up the phone to give her a call, that was the worst part , every time some thing good would happen & I wanted to share it with her , I would pick up the phone & give her a call or stop in & tell her in Person , I guess death is the start of a new way of life for everyone involved with the person who passed away , I do miss my father as well but he has been gone about 10 years longer than my mother & I have come to terms with it years ago ........... I still miss both of them a lot , but I wish my gransons had a chance to meet MY grandparents ,,,,,,,,, dammmmm we are all getting old hahahahaha
the Trees have all lost the color of the fall & the yard has been raked a few dozen times , the weedeater leaf blower has a hole in the bag , & I have patched it a few times & it keeps blowing out the materiel is just shot so I went on line to order a new bag for it & BINGO I found it first time , this is slick, no more going to the parts store , just type in the company name , the modle number & a parts list pops up, click the part you want add it to the shopping cart & click check out , smoooooth as a pina colada , & I also ordered a T shirt from Denmark for my grandson with some bands tour dates & logo, on it , & it got here in less than a week, dammmm the internet 7 the post office are doing a Bang up Job , salute to the USPS for delervering a package with out any postage at all on it ! way to keep the revenue up !
it is about time for me to hit the Qtr.Deck & have an other cigar , No idea what this one will be till I go look & see what striks my fancy or maybe some thing I have a lot of that I should thin down the population , just so I can get more in the humi ! hahaha Enjoy, Vince

Another masterpiece from Da Burgh by Vince. I'll bet Don Gonzales was just fine. What a game, huh? I'm sure the body heat from all the crazed Steelers fans created enough for the good Don to feel plenty warm. He saw a lot of history Sunday evening, and I'll bet he saw Troy Polamalu not only get a brand new car, but probably the key to the city as well. Unless he already has it. WHAT A GAME!!! 11-10 Steelers, and still one of the five best teams in football, as far as I'm concerned. Only a single blade of grass knows whether Polamalu's interception actually touched the ground, because that's all it could have touched. Amazing.

Christmas of '56, huh Vince? I was two months old, and wouldn't know anything about 30 inches in Pittsburgh. Hey, 30 Inches In Pittsburgh, sounds like a . . .

never mind, ha, haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! So, the grandsons are behaving, I see, right on cue. They've learned their lessons well, hee, heee!!! But who can afford to get anyone a gift except a lump of coal? And we'll need that coal for home heating this winter, because "times are hard for Chico And The Man."

Vince, snow is God's way of reminding certain people in certain areas of the world that they need to get up off their ass and do some work once in a while, ha, haaaaaaaaaa!!!

Snow shoveling. If you want to get your car's engine started, first shovel the snow, and feel your own engine working!!! One of the best exercises around, and one that will power up the whole body, but noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! We've got blowers now, or guys that come with plows on pickup trucks and ring your bell, do your driveway for what, thirty, forty bucks. So Americans can stay inside, NOT shovel the snow, and prepare themselves to be slaves tomorrow. Oh well, at least the Steelers won. I'm all for that. And whatever Vince has on the stove or in the oven, I'm all for that, too!!!

It was 34 years ago today that I started in the work force. I had jobs as a kid, but this was my first real job, and if the country hadn't turned on a dime, I wouldn't have been out on my ass eight years later, with no Plan B and no apparent future. 34 years later, I was right!!! I DID have NO future, but somehow I'm still here 34 years later, haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
