Sunday Morning Smoke

Good morning , it is Sunday Sept.25, 2011,,, a cool damp morning here in da Burgh,,,, not a lot going on here this week, the weather has been rain & damp mornings & the temps are a little below normal for this time of the year ,, Great sleeping weather , window open smooth jazz on the radio, next thing I know its morning & the boss wants breakfast,,, bacon & eggs for her ,shrimp & eggs for me ,,,, that way I can sneek a little more garlic into my diet........ ahhha garlic, it will clear out a room faster than almost anything but for hard boiled eggs .... after they pass through my digestive system..... ahhhhhh what a RIP,,,, & where would the sunday morning posting be with out a fart reference..... I have the day off from cooking , we are haveing left overs.... the stuffed peppers that went into the crock pot last week & have been in the freezer since , well today they get thawed out & EATEN...... ahhh yes more fuel for the GUT ,,,, peppers onion, garlic & eggs, all i need now is some nice baked beans, a little broccolli & a match..... KABOOOOOM , dammm almost for got the catalist,,,, a cold beer ,,,, need a little carbonation to FIRE the rockets .... right now I am working on the first pot of the day ,,, an itialian roast from $tarbucks ..... not bad brewed at a slightly lower temp than they do at at $tarbucks & brewed a little longer in the press pot than the drip pot they use ,,,,, How ever I do like thier decafe yes i know decafe is like kissing your sister or your cousin, but just remember that all those HOT BABES like jaylo are some ones sister or cousin & if its good enough for our friends in West Va. then I guess banging your cousin is OK with me,,,, I have a few cousins that could have rocked my world ,,,, well maybe 30/40 years ago ...... now we are all just to dam old to think about it , no I take that back,,, you can think about it just cant act on it ,,,, with out help anyway hahahaha , BUT so far I havent had to resort to the little blue pill,,, why bother have no place to use it ... after 41 years with the BOSS & sleeping in seperate rooms now , we get together for meals & going to see the grandsons ,,,, she has her routine & I have mine .We see each other passing in the hall or kitchen from time to time & its great, no arguements as long as i cook for her & she cuts the grass for me ..... it works for us so dont laugh !
My sister in law is at day 21 in the ICU at the local hospital, heart problem , fluid in the lungs , kidney failure , & on & On ,its not the age of the person its the "milesTraveled" & lets say she is a high mileage special with a rebuilt front end.... she is a great person but did have a small problem with coke ( the powered stuff not the soft drink )
I picked up a few Ashton ESG's ,,,,,, at 17.50 a stick for the robusto size I have no dammmmm idea what I was thinking about ,,,, they just looked so good in that box ,,,, that is about 10 bucks a stick out of my usual price range ,,,I have a lot of 2 buck close outs & specials in my humidors, sure I smoke a lot of seconds & why not who cares what it looks like so there is a small blemish on the wrapper, it smokes well & tastes fine, , if the construction is good & the flavor is good I dont care what color the wrapper is so it has a splotch of brown on a green background or a white spot here & there , I pull the band off as soon as it gets loose anyhow ,,,, so i am smoking a cheep dog rocket from some little known rolling house some place in central america ,,,, its 100% hand made, no cut filler , the construction is great, the taste is Fantastic, & I pay 2 bucks each for them,,,, so I had to but 100 boxes to get that price per stick ,,,, smoke a few sell a few , it all works out.
the IDIOT down the road got a new riding lawn mower this week, he has "CUT" his grass every day that it wasnt raining , , I think he just like's riding arround the yard with a beer listing to the radio on his head phones on .... with the price of gas just under 4 Bucks a gallon he is spending a ton of cash to make grooves in the soft grass!
time to fire up the kona & head out for the sunday morning smoke & today it is a Don Carlos PRESIDENT ......... a #3 next sunday

Good morning , it is SUNDAY the second of October,2011 a cold wet morning here in da burgh, it has been raining all day & all night & we got a few SNOW Flakes early this morning ......... so long summer !
as I sit here looking out the window at the cow pasture & see the lush green grass & the dark green trees behind it & knowing that soon the trees will come alive with color & the grass will fade to a light brown & be covered in SNOW ,,, I think back to the many years I have sat here looking out this same window at the same field & watching the beef on the hoof making thier way from new little babys to BIG hunks of roast beef on the hoof,,,, How many t bones have passed by my window? hahahaha ,,,,, & how many of them have graced my table & how many have I cooked for others , yet the field is full of them young & old & even ole Angus McStudd the prize winning bull has been gone a few years his seed is still producing offspring ...... a great blood line & a dammmm tasty one at that ! And speaking of a tasty hunk of beef , yep its whats on the menu for today ... it will be going in the oven soon ,,, a nice slow braze & a lot of veggies , it will warm you up & please the taste buds .
With all the rain we have been having I havent had much time to spend with the grandsons with school & them having things to do I dont get much time with them any more , not that the rain stops me from going to see them ,it limits the places we can go , I just dont want to go to the park & toss the frisbee in the wet & mud, they dont like going to the cigar shop , so thats out & going shopping ahahahaha , I AM NOT A SHOPPER , I go in & buy , I dont care as long as it fits , I stick to basics & have no problems getting things to match, ,,,,, all the soxs are black, brown or white , all the pants & shorts are solid color , from Black to brown & most darker shades in between , the shirts are bright solid colors with a few striped ones , shoes are plain toe left overs from the Navy , I have had to replce them a few times but it is a comfortable shoe & who cares about style, at my age I want Comfort, a few years ago I had a pair custom made , they have been resoled & heals replaced a few times , best investment I made in years ......
I dont want to get political but I am in a hard spot right now , with jobs being lost daily & spending down the tubes I wonder how long I will be able to stay open ? sales are up, down & sideways , I cant track any patterns ,,,, one week I will kick butts & take names 3 deep at the check out, other days I sit & watch the clock go round ,,,,, no one in the shop at all, its like some one rolled up the side walk & closed the town,,, then 3 hours later the place is jammed only to empty out in 20 minutes ,,,, & I did shower hahahahah so dont tell me thats the reason ! if the J@ck@$$'$ in Washington dont get there act together soon I will be looking to move to Canada Or some other English speaking place as I am to dam lazy to relearn Italian , or German , Never did speak much Spanish or French & my command of the middle & far east tongue's is poor to say the lest ...... growing up speaking English at home Italian at my mothers family & German at my dads family, French at work( working with a French chef ) & picking up a bit of Spanish , when I was picking up a a hot date ,,, dammm I loved the hot blooded beautys till I met my wife ,, a cold blooded German who was the Boss & wouldnt have it any other way !!!!! hahahaha 41 years of saying Yes dear !!!!!!, so much for my love life or lack of it ahaha but the econemy is in the dumper ,,,, its like the guy who comes into town & wants a room at the local hotel, he wants to inspect the room first & will leave a 100 dollar bill as a security deposit when he is looking at the room , well the owner of the hotel takes the C note & runs down to the butcher shop to pay off his bill for the meat in the hotel dining room, the butcher in turnruns to the farmer with that same c note to pay for the hog he sold to the hotel, the farmer runs to the feed & grain shop to pay for his bill to feed tat hog, the guy at the feed store pays the local hooker who has fallen on hard times & was selling it on credit, so she is now paid & then she runs to the hotel to pay the hotel bill for all the time she spent there & give the guy the same cnote back, he places it on the counter so the guy who was inspecting the room was none the wiser , & he enters the loby & said the rooms were just to small & he would pass on staying, he picked up his 100 Dollors & gets out of town , now lets look at this , the butcher , the farmer , the feed & grain shop & the local hooker all got paid, & the hotel owner got paid with the same $100.00 , yet no products were made no profit was made & the traveler got all his money back but the econemy was stimulated buy SPENDING & N O T paying taxes , the fed is wanting to stimulate the econemy by raising taxes & spending our money through a government plan with the crean comming off the top for the buddies & kick backs , let me Keep MY money & SPEND it on what I want , with out the graft & payoffs , what ever I spend it on will be spent by the person I spend with , & that money will just keep moving & soon the local hookers will get paid & they will come to the cigar shop to celebrate & spend big bucks on the cigars for thier clients who in turn will enjoy the cigar & start to be a regular customer of MINE as well as hers,,,, we all need to work together ,,,, But never mix business with pleasure ,,,,, I might get caught & that Stern German lady at home would not be happy with me at all !!!!!!
looks like its time for that pot of kona & a Don Carlos , first I need to go out & turn on the heat in the Qtr.deck, & I still havent hooked up the wireless router to get the internet in the Qtr.deck .... I have no idea what I am waiting for but sooner or later it MIGHT get done......... Enjoy, Vince

Good morning , it is Sunday 9th of Oct.2011 a verrrrry warm Sunday here in da Burgh , we are looking for a high of 80F today , a bit warmer than expected this time of the year, , BUT I am comfortable sitting here in the QTR.DECK , cigar chompted in my mouth, the WIRELESS NETWORK is up & running out here so NOW I can have my sunday morning smoke when I post my Sunday morning BS , I grabbed a Bahia Maduro Torp this morning, I have no idea why , it just looked good & had that soft fresh aroma of spring or summer that I enjoy , almost like a barn yard WITHOUT the Horse $hit, I have been chewing on it about 25 minutes all ready & havent looked for the lighter, by the time I fire this one up it will be waterloged & all chewed to hell & back , but dammmmm it has a great taste, , I almost hate to add fire to it as the flavor will change & right now with the coffee ...... its wonderful to say the lest. , this mornings pot of coffee is a blend of coffees from Indenosia, Sumatra, & other Pacific grown coffees , I might pass on the pot of Sunday Kona today as this is a nice blend & good taste, I just hope it holds up to the cgar when I finnally get some flame on it . .....If the cigar is lightable by then, getting like a sponge ,,, I might have to recut it to get a draw....... & speaking of fire, , yesterday when I was at the shop , one of the customers asked for a light & I handed then my old sigle torch chrome lighter that has been in my pocket & been used for a good 15/20 years, , he dropped it on the cement side walk & now it will not open , this lighter has NEVER failed to light unless it was out of fuel,,, it is so "pocket worn" that the brass case is showing through the chrome, , when you do PRY open the cap it lights , so it looked like the cap has a twist in the shank that hold it , but I am afraid to twist it as I dont want to snap it off, ,,, I guess I will retire it to the box of worn out lighters,,,,, & hope to find a never miss lighter to replace it with.
Since it is an unseasonaly warm day I have 2 Porterhouse steaks in a light marinade of evoo , herbs, aeromatic veggies & a few drops of aged balsamic vinager, a dash of tabasco & & a few rasins,,,, why the rasins? I have no idea but some thing in my scrambled eggs brain said Put them in , you can fish them out when you grill the meat...... , I have a few yams that will get the grill treatmet also,,,, the yams were on sale at the market so I picked up a few , the evoo, salt,pepper & fresh ground nutmeg & cinnamon will make a nice seasoning mix for them...... , things at the shop have been good, the sales have been OK & a few new people have been stopping in, we have been open 5 years this month, & for those of you who have been reading MY BS for a long time know we had a broken water line in the humidor one week after we opened & lost 99% of our stock the first week we were open ........ well a little set back like that might have stopped most people but a lot of hard work & a nice check from the insurance company got us back open with in a week, thank GOD for credit cards to carry us over the time from filing the claim till the check got there....... NO MORE PLASTIC pipes, everthing is now COPPER , & new shut off valves are in place, lesson learned,,, dont CUT corners, go FIRST CLASS or stay at home ......
it is up to 70F just after noon, , I am a little late posting this morning as I am enjoying this cigar , yes I did light it about 20 minutes ago & have been savoring it & not paying attention to the time or the computer,,so today it will be the sunday afternoon smoke not the morning smoke ,,,, I still might make the pot of Kona & fire up the don carlos #3 ,,, but that might be after the porterhouse, I also have a nice taramisue, or how ever you spell it, an Italian desert, mascaponi cheese, lady fingers ,rum, chocolate , whipped cream & tons of espresso ,,,, looks like the healthy meal of steak & yams will get thrown a curve ball when I slice that bad boy.....
the grandsons have been busy with school & music lessons , I have commissiond a new painting for the Qtr.deck from the numer 2 grandson , to go along with the one he did for me last year a cobalt blue ashtray with a lit cigar & a glass of single malt , this year i asked for a second cigar theamed painting of what ever he thought might look good in the Qtr.deck...... . I have a frame ready to go all I need is the painting...... Hope to hang it after Christmas, if its done by then..... ther have been a lot of Octoberfests in the area but the best one was held by the Ellwood city wolfs club, a BUNCH of Italians drinking German Beer & a tarentella band not a German ompa band , hey you had to be there , ,,,,,,, lots of beer over 60 different beers from the traditional imports from the fatherland to some great home brews & grilled lamb,,, some one forgot the sausage & sourkraut,,,, but what do a bunch of Italians know about knoctwurst & cabbage? hahahaha , with all that beer & no soft pretzels it was still FUN...... & next Saturday there will be an Apple fest a few doors down from the shop, on the main street of Monaca , sales should be good that day, apple pie, apple butter, apple cider & cigars........ yummie ,,, the only bad thing is I will be closing early that day as my saturday crew will be out of town & I have a BBQ to go to that evening so I cant stay & keep the shop open,,,,, anyone out there want to work the 15th? hahahaha ....
looks like its about time for me to post this BS & get on with my day.... life if tuff when you have things to do besides smoke cigars & sip coffee all day ..... Enjoy, Vince

Merry Christmas, just got back from the grandsons ,,,, had a great morning, Jonas (the younger one)gave me a wonderful painting he did of a high back leather chair, a cigar smoking in the ashtray & a silhouette of a person smoking a cigar in the background,
( and it took me 5 trys to spell sill- o- wet ) hahaha , Chase the older grandson made a CD of him playing the piano for me , great stuff,,,,, better than anything you can get at any store, other than cigars & single malt whisky hahaha ,,, time for me to hit the kitchen , Christmas dinner will not make it self, we have a Smithfield dry cured ham that has been soaking a few days , baked yams , green beans/with bacon & onions & if the dough ever raises we will have some sour dough rolls , & a pot of Jamacian Blue Mountain Coffee & a red velvet cheese cake if I ever get arround to desert , coffee for sure but I dont know if I will have room for the cake !

Good morning , it is Sunday Jan 1 2012- & a happy new YEARS WISH TO ALL OF YOU,
the Pork & kruat are in the oven the & the breakfast dishes are being cleaned up & all I have to do is head out to the Qtr.Deck, turn on the heat & get ready to fire up a nice big fat Partigus series d number 4 ,,,, a Maduro masterpiece & it should be time to eat..... we went to a Birthday party last night , she was a new years baby last century ( remember the century changes evey 100 years & this is only the 12th year of this century ) , still just a kid at 60 ....... we had a few drams of Irish whisky ,,,, a weee sip of champagne & a shot of real Vodka that we stashed in the freezer ,,,,, so smooth it didnt hit till it warmed up in the stomach,,,,, GOOOD BUZZ!!!!!!!!

Good morning it is Sunday 8 Jan.2012,,, a cold day here in da Burgh , right now it is 35F & the boss wants me to Grill a bacon wrapped filet & sweet potato for super today, so i will get out the long johns & stand out on the back deck & grill her a steak..... & since I am out there I should do on for my self,,,,,, , so far this winter season we have had verrrrrrry little snow, , I am sure we will get our 45 + inches some time soon, I am just glad I am not in Buffalo , Erie or Cleveland , I get more snow here than I want BUT the boss will not move south ,,,, to hot in the summer, to many bugs , huricanes ,,,, but the best is to far from the grandsons,,,, I can deal with all but that one,,,, so when I hit the power ball for a few million, the whole family will be heading south for the winter & back up here to the burgh for the summers,,,,,, But first i need to hit a ticket hahahaha
(>) the shop is holding its own,,, could be better but the inventory is looking good, but would look a lot better in your humidor ( for you guys who are a bit "slow" that means I sell it to you ) , dammmm I will sell the paint on the walls & the dirt on the floor if the price is RIGHT... hahahaha

Good morning , it is Sunday 1/15/12 ,,, a COLD morning here in da Burgh 12F , but the sky is blue the sun is out & I am frozen out of the Qtr.deck, we had a lot of rain before the snow & falling temp & the ice raised the ramp into the qtr.deck just enough to hit the bottom of the door& I broke the tip of the snow shovel trying to pry it open.... looks like it will be a SLOW week for the deck untill it warms up a bit ,,, any one have a long bar & a block to pop the ramp out of the ice ? hahaha
I need to figure out a way to get in the Qtr.deck,,,, my wife is finding "little jobs" for me to do ,,,, since I cant get in the Qtr.deck ...... salt yea put a lot of salt under the ramp,,,, Enjoy, Vince

Good morning , it is Sunday Jan.22,2012, a Cold morning here in da burgh 15F we have about 7 inches of snow on the ground & winter is HERE .
The shop has been slow all week sales wisw, guys are still comming in , having a smoke but leaving with out getting more for home, just way to cold to enjoy a cigar outside .... the lack of maulti sales is hurting the bottom line,,, the coffee is still being drank, the furnace is working overtime & sales are down, cant wait till spring,,,, open the door, sit out side & smoke BIG FAT CIGARS all day long, right now I am on a pitite corona kick , with a few minitures tossed in as spacers ,,,, surprising how much flavor comes from the tiny little 5 puff smokes ,,, But I miss sitting down with a Hemmingway Masterpiece & not getting up for 3 hours ........
I have a turkey breast to pop in the oven later today ,,, NO POT ROAST !!! what is the wife thinking????? Anyway the oven will be on & that will fill the house with a wonderfull aroma of turkey, ,,, reminds me of Thanksgiving ,,,,,,,,with out the rest of the family & no fighting , I have a bottle of LBV port to go with todays cigars ,,,,, since we are having turkey today I wanted to save the scotch for the beef ,,,, BUT later tonight I will be hitting the Laphroaig ,,,, JUST in case I get a chill ,, hahahaha

I didnt watch any of the games, I did want to see the 2 brothers face off in the super bowl but that isnt going to happen, who would the parent cheer for?
I spent the day in the Qtr.Deck Jazz, coffee cigars & a bottle of port........ cant get much better than that, if the Black & Gold had been still in the hunt I might have watched the last Qtr. or at lest the last few minutes of the game, I used to have season tickets , back when they were the steel curtain,,,, the 70's were a different time , back when the hostages were captured by Iran , there was a billboard , here in da burgh.... Dont Bomb Iran ,,, Make them play the Steelers!

Good morning , it is sunday 29 jan 2012 a cold clear day here in da BurgH it is 29F right now with a 16 MPH wind , making it dammmm uncomfortable to be out side ..... so I have the heat turned on in the Qtr.DECK , the kona is brewing in the press pot the Don Carlos #3 has been V cut & waiting on the Fire to hit it ., The boss has her Hunk O beef in the oven with the onions, garlic, carots & seasonings, the yukon gold potatos go in later ......
Last night I went to a new tobacco shop in Cranberry Twp. just a few miles from my home , it is a cigerette roll your own kind of place , a small humidor with a few premium cigars but mostly a huka sales point place, glass pipes, & all the BS that tags along with it , But they are trying to get into a better class of cigar smokers so I went out & rolled cigars for them last night , had a great time drank some 12YO MaCallen, lots of espresso from CharBuck$, witch id just across the highway from the shop, I had a lot of Fun , made a few bucks & might be able to sell them more of the cigars I roll, , I get my tobacco from a friend in the cigar industry & have no controll of the blend, I get the bags marked so many of this leaf , so many of that , a half of this & here is the binder, & this is the wrapper, , I put them together& with a little luck it will draw, burn & have a good flavor. When I finished I took all the cuttings & rolled ONE BIG FAT 4 Inch cigar , I have no idea what the ring size was ,,,,,70+ would be my guess, & some one in the shop thought it was a fine smoke ,,, I was going to fire it up my self but this was a good report on my effort so I was happy about that.....
My buddy Tom had a Hernia fixed on friday & is doing well , dammmm its tuff getting old, you just dont jump up off the O.R. table & run a marathon,,,, , I dont even run across the yard when its time to eat after I cut my nails, its that tramatic to me hahahahaha I can only Imagine what the hernia operation would be like hahahaha , well its time to pour the kona & fire up the DC#3, get the Jazz on the CD player & kick back & enjoy the day....

Good morning it is Sunday 5th of feb.2012 ,,, from what I am hearing on the Tv there is a football game of some sort today .... I dont think I will be turning the TV to see anything but the great adds, ,,, NY VS NE ,,, all I want is to hit the numbers on the pool I dont care who wins as long as I have the right numbers! ,,, Right now I dont even have the numbers , I will wait for the phone call after the game to pick up my winnings ! hahahaha

the hunk o beef is in the oven the heat is on in the qtr.deck I havent pulled out todays cigars as yet , but when the kona comes out of the press pot I have the Don Carlos #3 ready to be clipped & enjoyed, I just might open up the "contraband" humidor, i do have a nice old R&J dbl corona that is looking "READY" , with the temp in nthe high 30's low 40's I might just need a Laphroaig to go with it .. I just finished a bottle of Ardberg,,, great flavor but the color being so light it some how Effected/Infected my my judgement on the whisky, I have drank this before But didnt remember the lightness of the color,,, well who cares what color the drink is as long as it TASTES GREAT & it did

Thing are S L O W at the shop, after a good December the numbers fell off like a stone in a glass bottle , breaking out the bottom......

the grandsons are both doing well the little one(14YO) got his braces off & is sporting a retainer at night, , the big one (16) still hasnt got his learners permit for the car, still needs to be Taxied by some one to all his events ,,, studious is one thing but I think he is just lazy ! or scared , I dont know.....

almost time for the pot of kona to go on , I am ready ,,, I did make a bit of jamican Blue mountain in a press cup at work Friday, it was great , made my every day drip columbian taste like dish water, BUT at $6.25 for 2.2 ounces , & getting 2 cups yield ( 10 ounce cups), it is a bit over priced.... speaking of overpriced have any of you tryed the new light roast, BLOND coffies from CharBuck$? I had a sample cup on the house waiting for my espresso last week...... NOT bad at all, my wife likes it better than thier pikes place blend,,,, But who can tell with all that cream in it, ? Black straight up , , Hot Cold no matter to me Chilled is ok as long as you dont add ice, it waters it down !

Good morning , it is Sunday 12 Feb,2012,,, a COLD snow covered day here in da Burgh, right now the air temp is 15F with a wind chill of 3 F ,,, I dont plan on going to the Qtr.Deck today, , the time it will take to heat up & the cost will be off the scale, unless we get some sun later today to heat the sky light ,,,, I might drag my lazy behind to the shop today for a smoke if I get restless & want to get away from the boss for a few hours, ,,, maybe I should get dressed & get out while she is still reading the sunday paper ,,, but I am so comfortable in my robe & slippers with a pot of Brazillian santos, I might just kick back sip coffee & try not to snap at her when she starts talking about stuff I have no idea what she is talking about, its like I watch the soap operas with her , , she is telling me all about this & that ,,,,, I have no idea what she is talking about,,,,, ,,
today I am doing a chicken & rice dish, she asked for this one a few days ago, so NO pot roast today, YEA!!! I like to make different things all the time But she wants the same thing till she has had her fill then we move on to the next item her taste buds are craving, but she told me all ready that next Sunday will be BEEF again, I am glad to get a rest with a bit of chicken this week for sure ,,, this Sunday is a big change for my taste buds also, No Beef, No kona , & no Sunday morning Cigar ..... How can that be ?????
but this past week i was able to get the taste buds wrapped arround the new Thunder , & the XEN , along with the cammeroon wrapped 2003 or is it 2006 ? I dont remember & an to dammm lazy to get up & go look at the band, all were from Rocky Patel, we had the sales rep in Thursday & had a fair day ,,, sold a few cigars drank a few drams of Scotch ( 12 YO MaCallen ) & finished off a few pots of coffee, all in all it was a wonderful day .
with the winter settleing down here in da Burgh I havent been seeing the grandsons much, with school for them & all the stuff that comes up we have been missing each other but for the art & paino lessons on monday I dont get there much & when the older one gets his drivers licence I will see less of them, he turned 16 back in Oct. still hasnt got his learners permit,,,, he is in no hurry to drive....
we have about 4 inches of snow on the ground right now , & it looks like there will be more any time soon, overcast & gray , windy & the radar shows its on its way ,,, just as the boss comes in from cleaning off the walk & drive way,,, here it comes again ,,,, better stay out of her way ,,,, maybe I should go hide in the bathroom , turn on the exaust fan ,, that way I cant hear he complain about the DAMMMMM SNOW
R.I.P. Whitney Houston, 48 , to bad she got tangled up in drugs ,,, she had a great voice ,, I have no idea what she died from as yet to be confermed
