Thompson Cigar?

Welcome to the board Cloudy, if you do a search for favourites I am sure you will find all the info that could ever read for sure!!

Meanwhile, I will put my plug in right now - CAO Brazilia in any size you can find, and then Indian Tabac SF Maduro Toro.

There you go, and good luck in your quest, it will be a great ride for sure!!

Cloudy, welcome! I think you will find that all the c.com label cigars are highly thought of around here...probably my favorite of the bunch though are the Cuban Label and the Camaroon Label.... isn't that right Capt? :p

SURE is!! I just got some more Cameroon labels, I am gonna keep the ones I got back in October to see how well they age.

Man, I wish I had brought some into work with me.

Glad I sent it back

Man! You guys are making me really glad that I sent back my travel humidor/pack of 16 Fuentes. I ordered it and was still in the process of deciding whether I was going to get into the madness. I had decided on the red pill and sent everything back to them unopened.

I have since decided the blue pill was much better and have since ordered all of my stuff from Cigar.com. Tim and Steve have been excellent. I have a buissiness associate that says he is going to order me a box of the X. So Tim better be back from vacation this week. Besides I need some more Hemingways. My wife could not understand why it took me an hour and a half to smoke the thing. LOL.

PS DevilDog, check your PM's. Please. LOL.

I ordered my humidor from Thompson. It arrived at my house and my daughter set it up. So far so good, however, I can't give an honest review about it as I haven't seen it yet.

I also ordered a box of one of their house brands called CHAVON. It's described as a Maduro cigar of exceptional flavor and character, a superb blend of Piloto Cubano and Dominican Olor fillers.

After chasing me around the world, they finally arrived, each cigar individually cellophane wrapped and all in good condition except one which had a little wrapper damage.

I tried very hard to hate this cigar, ya know, peer pressure, let's all hate the big "T", thing. But the cigar smokes very well. I've smoked about 10 so far, and each has burned excellently, no tunneling at all. Nice ash, mild to medium body with lots of smoke. Flavor wise, well, I haven't been able to distinguish any real nuances yet, but that might just be my inexperience as a cigar smoker.

Will I buy another box. Nope. Too many other cigars out there to try. If I'm going to buy a "house" brand, it will be a whole lot less expensive than the Thompsons.

I have a box of 5 Vegas Gold and a box of Cu Avana at home waiting for me. I have a feeling they are going to spoil me.

Thanks for the recommendations guys, those Cuban labels sound pretty good, will make sure to offer up some comments when I get my hands on some, think I am going to try the sample pack first then go from there.

Bikeman, I actually have smoked a couple of the CAO Brazilia's, what to say? It's a big beastie of a smoke, very impressive for somebody like me who is partial to full flavor and big ring gauges.

Thanks again.

This thread is getting rather long, and I don't know if I said it yet, but I want to clarify, not just for me, but I know I speak for others too, because so many of us got started with "the 'T' word." :cryinlaugh:

My first humidor came from "the 'T' word." I also came across a great house brand years ago, a 60 ring gauge cigar called Leviathan. I was very pleased with the cigar and the price, and lamented their disappearance. However, their weak points, their lack of business sense, and failure to rectify problems when they tell you they have been rectified makes them abysmal to want to deal with, once you know better.

Why buy a box of cigars for $225 from "the 'T' word" when I can get it somewhere else for $140? Or why buy a box from them for $115 when I can get it for $82 somewhere else? Even if what happened between me and them over a period of two or three months, culminating on May 1, 1999 in my decision never to deal with them again had never happened, their prices still make them unworthy of dealing with. Having said that, I don't want anyone to get the impression that nobody has ever found any good in them. The humidor is a constant reminder and those Leviathans are a fond memory.

I drove past this place yesterday. I should of printed this thread and took it into them! Ha Ha!!!!!
