Today was a 2 cigar day for me, a rarity for a work day. I had a Partagas Black Label after work. Unfortunately it was the Clasico size & not the Bravo which I'm so fond of. Plagued with an uneven burn and far too tight of a draw, it wasn't nearly as good as the Bravo which gives big thick plumes of smoke. I have 2 more left in my humi and can't wait until I get some more of the Bravo size.
To end the evening with a cold Guinness, I enjoyed a Romeo y Julieta Churchill - the real deal Cuban variety. Guys, this thing was absolutely incredible. The flavor and aroma was first rate. I'd say it was medium bodied although that is purely subjective. What I found to be most pleasant was the lack of pepper throughout the entire cigar (some Cubans overwhelm me with all the pepper). Very complex with a bit of a medium to long spicy finish that wasn't detectable on the draw and again wasn't overwhelming. Truly a wonderful cigar and although I hate to say so after smoking only one, it was without a doubt one of the best cigars I've ever smoked. You gotta try this is you ever get the chance. I'm still spinning over this one and wish my brother would have brought back a few more of these from his vacation (I've still got a Bolivar and Cohiba and hoping they will be as great). I really can't describe how good this thing was. I just had to rush back in and tell you guys about it as soon as I was finished. Simply an awesome cigar and much better than the Padron 1926 I had about a week or two ago (which is way overpriced IMHO) and about the same price of $23. Get one if you can but don't worry if you can't, I'll be more than happy to smoke them all myself!
With all the talk of the embargo being lifted I hope these will be available to us soon. Funny how I always here about "the talk about the embargo being lifted" even tho I've never actually heard a thing about it. Honestly, I don't see it happening but it would be nice if it did. Don't want this to turn into a political debate so I'll just leave it at that and be very happy having had one.
Cheers!
