What is your favorite Hobby?

Besides cigars Golf is my other passion in life. I am a member at the TPC at Prestancia here in Sarasota Florida. Tennis and scuba diving are also hobbies, and skiing used to be one when I lived in Boston.

Large mouth Bass fishing, shooting pool, photography, trying to pick out the many flavors in fine cigars, taking care of my grandson oh.........and John Wayne movies.

*BUMP*

I want to learn more about the folks on this forum. What better way to get people to talk about themselves then, to get them to talk about something they love? What do you love to do in your spare time? What do you wish you had more time for? In a band? Do you play sports? Do you collect rare first edition Archie comics? Well?

I have some Archie comics from the late 70's early 80's, and the soft cover book-types too. Sgt Rock(?) comics, and that "poor little rich kid" guy.. can't remember his name though (Richie Rich?). He's the gazillionaire kid who does good deeds, has a robot maid, a dog named "Dollar" and has a girlfriend.

Maybe my wife threw them all out when we moved last year....

hunting, shooting, fishing, blowing stuff up (in a legal and nondestructive manner).........

I play a little piano, but nothing to brag about. I like freediving and snorkeling, used to be able to hold my breath 3 minutes but now I'm lucky to do 2.

I box weekly and still do a bit of kickboxing/MMA when I get the chance. Purely amatuer stuff but its alot of fun. Paintball when I can afford it. As always, drinking and smoking with good friends.

all the best,

Joe

¥ Golfing (mid-80s to low-90s when I can play regularly)
¥ Fishing (mostly for Walleye on Lake Erie)
¥ÊBowling (around a 200 average)
¥ Camping (we go almost every weekend during the summer)
¥ Movies (I like a wide variety, my 3 favorites are The Godfather, Rio Bravo and Caddyshack)
¥ Music (I'm a classic rock 'n roll guy, anything from the mid-60s to early-70s. I don't go ANYWHERE without my iPod)
¥ Poker (for years, my friends and I used to play a regular weekly game, but one by one everyone dropped out for one reason or another [read: wives and/or girlfriends] so its harder to get a game now.

And like everybody else, I used to do them all a lot more often than I do now (5 kids and 4 grandkids happened along the way), but I still manage to find time to enjoy them all throughout the year.

Lets see, there's work, and work, don't forget about the work.

What are these hobbies you speak of, I don't know what those are.

I used to do lots of cool stuff. Skiing, fishing, going to the gym. Now I work and come home to take care of the family. We were lucky enough to have time last night for a family walk after diner. It was the first time we have been able to do it since Daniel has been born.

Since the baby was born back in March my hobbies include, changing diapers, feeding time, changing diapers, waking up in the middle of the night, and my favorite one of all.... changing diapers.

Pre-baby hobbies included Golfing (which I still do in the mornings every Saturday or Sunday. We'll see how long the wife lets that keep up), video/DVD authoring, and Gaming (mostly tactical games like Ghost Recon)

Alas, any other hobbies I may have had are gone from my mind due to lack of sleep and diaper fumes. Oh wait, gotta go, I smell a poopie diaper.

Why not get a degree in your hobby guys? New England Conservatory of music, I am getting a tuba performance degree. Besides practicing, I love fishing, movies, and food.

What!? They offer a degree in sitting around, drinking, smoking and complaining? I'm in!

I used to be a serious amateur photographer, but I got bored with it. 4x5 view camera, zone system, custom darkroom, blah blah blah. I even learned how to repair cameras, just so I would be able to keep my own gear in working shape.

Electronics held my interest for a while. Those days are also behind me.

Yoga, karate, kayaking, hiking, backpacking, camping, hunting, fishing, long road trips to nowhere. Yep, all things of the past.

My current hobbies include coffee, cigars and libations. All in moderation, of course, except for the last three in the list.

Of course cigar smoking and collecting is a major hobby of mine, but my biggest hobby is bass fishing. I like all kinds of fishing and outdoor activities. I love to hunt and camp. I have a Yellow lab that I take bird hunting with me (mostly dove and duck). I enjoy working with my dog and he fills in as the child I don't have. I love to travel, eat, cook, golf, listen to Texas country music and for the most part I work about 9 shifts a month and spend the rest of my time in a state of complete relaxation.

Life is to short for the BS

Hobbies

Like alot of folk's here, I lost interest in a few things when the kid's came along. But, now that they have left home and have families of their own, I have time to do little thing's for me.
I picked up the guitar again after leaving it alone for 20 yrs. It's not like riding a bike, the mind knows what to do but the fingers won't respond. They are getting better though. We do alot a traveling now. One of our favorite place's is Memphis, Tenn. The, people, food, and drink are outrageous. If you have never done Beale St. on the weekend's it is something you should. That is where I got into a great hobby called BBQ. Not grilling, there is a huge difference. Pork butt can take anywhere from 8-12 hrs. of smoking. Ribs will take 6-8 hrs. out of your day. But what better way to enjoy my newest hobby of smoking stogies. A good cold mug of beer, a great smoke, and family and friend's gathered in anticipation of a great meal with homemade sauce to dip with. But I tell everyone you really don't need the sauce you need to taste the meat. I think anyone who smoothers their meat with a sauce is not real sure about the outcome of their effort's.
If anyone is interested I have some great rub and sauce recipe's.
And last but not least are my grandbabies. They can get anything from "pawpa" they want. Their moms and dads tell them "that is not the same man that raised me".(Bill Cosby)

Music collecting but I have slacked on it lately, I was at 500+ cd's and assorted other (albums, tapes, speciality stuff) junk, that hobby has cooled off quite a bit lately. I still own a lot of pretty rare and esoteric metal, punk, industrial and experimental electronica but my buying habits have nosedived.

Book collecting is another hobby of mine, my tastes run somewhat similar to my music, I have a few signed copies of some pretty odd and obscure books and authors. J.G. Ballard, Timothy Leary and Henry Rollins are a few people whose signed books line my shelves.

Art collecting is the one hobby I really wish I was more financially suited to indulge in, not highbrow auction house stuff but more underground and underappreciated artists, I have a couple of H.R. Giger signed and numbered prints, a set of Robert Williams prints and a few other oddities stashed around the house waiting for their day on my walls or an auction, who knows?

There ya go, I am starting to toy with the idea of taking up rock climbing but I've yet to make that a reality.

Oh and I do like cigars.

My fav hobby is raising, training, and showing German Shepherds according to the SV system (GSD Club of Germany). Its something my daughters and I do together.

Guitar, cigars, cooking. I used to play soccer but after playing 16 years i reached a crossroads... play profesionally or give it up for school/real job. soccer is not a profession. I fish and hunt with my Dad when we visit. I backpack and offroad with friends.
