Is it ok to keep the cellophane wrapper on cigars when you humidify them? If I take them off in the humidifier will all of my cigars end up smelling and or tasting the same?

Yes, you may leave them on, and no, they will not marry flavors. The only reason to worry about mixing is if you're aging cigars over years and years. I leave the cellophane on so I don't damage the wrappers if I'm moving them around.

What Chris said!! There is great argument over this particular topic, but as far as I am concerned protection of your precious cigars takes precidence over everything else.

Just my 1.89 cents worth.

Just cut the end of the cellophane off flush with the cigar. It will stay protected, but it will still be able to age and breathe.

I leave it on. I rotate my cigars often and don't want to damage them.

I agree with what Bobberrific said, "If cigars did marry so easily, I'd throw in a 50 box of honduran primeros with the partagas series d no. 4's." Wouldn't that be nice.

Just don't put any flavored cigars with the goods.

thanks

Thanks everyone. I am fairly new to cigars. Well not to cigars, just the fact that I keep a humidor now. I used to just buy a couple for when I wanted them......then I fell in love with them and need to get lots of them. haha.
One more question for the peeps. I want to get a couple of good cigars for when now to age until I Graduate from college in like 5 years. Is it ok to keep them in the tube or cellephane for that long? It seems like you guys seem to say that only for short periods is good. Or should I just get a small cedar box and save them in that unwrapped and untubed? Maybe I am just hacking this topic to death. lol

I used to play the cello, now I leave my cigars in the cello, and I really like to eat the jello. There you go!

Agreed -- and remember the "cello" from "cellophane" comes from "cellulose". It's not plastic, but rather plant pulp, and as such it will not affect the taste of your cigars, and it does breath.

If your cigars came in cello from the manufacturer, leave them in cello.

Cellophane

One thing I find is if you can get a BIG cutter (64 ring gauge - 1") then cutting with the cello on makes a really clean cut, it support the wrapper/cap so no shreds and splits and it sharpens the cutter at the same time. It also stops baccy getting into the cutter/blade gap.
