New? Introduce Yourself Here

Well, like a lot of people that seem to be coming out of the woodwork lately on here, I have been reading the posts for the past month or so. I can honestly say that I have gone through all 90-odd pages of topics already. Not sure if that is a good thing to admit, but whatever, I'm hooked. I have learned a lot from everyone on here so far and am looking forward to learning more as I go along. The only regret I am having at the moment is that I didn't follow the advice to get a bigger humi. I got my first one a couple weeks ago and it is a 120 count. I thought that would be plenty, even after reading everything on here. Turns out I was wrong. It will be plenty for the next month or two, but then I'm gonna be in trouble :) Fortunately, the weather in Michigan should be better in the next couple weeks and then I'll be able to make a dent in my stash. Anyway, looking forward to posting and reading on here more often...

Hello New to Cigars and loving it!

Hi I'm Carl.. I'm new to the whole cigar thing, but I'm having some fun and enjoying new things with the many brands.

To date my favorites have been:

CAO Soprano Boss
Diablo
a few different Griffins

Had a Acid nasty (too rough for me though)

I have noticed I seem to enjoy a mild smoke somewhat more, if any of you have any good suggestions I'd appreciate it.

Welcome from a fellow newcomer. If your questions can't be answered by someone here, you're asking very hard questions :)

I'd say try the AVO or AVO XO lines. They are a bit expensive, but great mild bodied smokes.

Greetings from Indy

G'afternoon everyone.
I'm Jacob, from the southern part of Indianapolis, IN. Good friend of mine told me to check out the site, and I really like everything I've seen so far. Looking forward to tomorrow (first Friday deal I'll get to experience) and looking forward to learning more while I'm here. I smoke on the rare occasion, and I've not smoked as much since getting a pipe about a year ago. I really like a tobacco called "Wall Street," made by a local store named Hardwicke's. I do tend to like cigars better though, because they don't require nearly the maintenance of a good pipe. I am interested in trying new cigars, and in making my own. Thanks for running what appears to be a great site, and I look forward to spending time here, and learning as much as possible about this great ritual.

Welcome, TheMann00! Glad you found the site.

And, those Friday specials are a killer. Way too tempting.

Hi all, I'm Dennis from SE Michigan. Fairly new to cigars (about 3 months) but I'm really enjoying 'em. Slowly filling my modest humi and looking forward to tips and suggestions from the incredibly knowledgeable people here.

Welcome to all the new comers, and newbies. I think you will enjoy this section of the internet, the madness can be very amusing at times for sure. Pull up a chair, and light a cigar!!

Hello all,
Most of you have noticed that I've been around the board recently. I've done a couple contests and PIF's and found this to be a great and friendly place to kick back and swap a few stories or a few sticks. I realize I kinda just jumped in without even introducing myself. Good place for a 100th post I guess!!

I hail from the armpit of the untied states also known as good ole New Jersey, where we have more landfills per square foot than any other state. If that isn't a claim to fame then I don't know what is. I'm quick to knock it but I can't leave. I've been smoking for a few years now. I've throughly enjoyed it as a hobby. I like the fact there are ALWAYS new things to try. I've found the general tastes of people here to vary greatly, that's what keeps it interesting. I'm not going to drag on here, but I did want to take the oppertunity to properly introduce myself.
HI!!

Hey Everybody,

I am also quite new to the cigar world but I am really taken aback about what a really great crowd you guys are. Sharing cigars seems like it takes a lot of faith, and with all of people on the internet these days, its really refreshing to hear how the cigar swapping really works. Perhaps when I develope a real collection one day, I'll be able to share it with you guys.

So a little about me, I'm an organic chemist working on a Ph. D. at Emory, but I live for the time outside of lab... I brew beer, play guitar, host a regular poker game, and I'm generally ready any time for a beer at the local pool hall. I picked up cigar smoking when my good friend from highschool sent my a 5 Vegas sampler pack, and it was an incredible experience. Cigar smoking just fit right in to my personality, and I am really enjoying it.

SO on a side note, does anybody know anything about local cigar places in the Atlanta area... I really am new to cigar system and I'm looking for a place where I can get cigars when I don't have the patience to order from cigar.com ...

Welcome to the forums. Any home brewer is a big addition to the membership here.

Welcome to the forum. I am just getting into home brewing, but have not gotten very far yet. Once things quiet down this spring I hope to get set up and start.

Welcome Brewmeister!
You may find that any local shops may be exorbitantly priced on their smokes. I find that many of my local retailers are $4-5 high per stick. I'm all for supporting local, and mom-and-pop business, but the gouging is something I take umbrage with.
There are several on-line merchants, obviously cigar.com, but I have had success with Cigars International, and JR Cigar, as I'm sure many others have as well. Patience is one thing, but cash is cash!
Welcome to the fold!
Rob

I’m up to around post 25 and I have been reading for a few months before I started posting.
I’m 25 years old and I live in the Akron area of Ohio. In September, Im getting married to my girlfriend of 4 years. We are currently in the process of buying a house.
She makes me smoke outside…but I still love her. She isn’t too keen on the idea that her Dad and I like to sit around and smoke cigars when we get together.
I’m a cook. I work for Applebee’s as a part of Apple America. This summer I am expecting to get a promotion to manager.
I like anything with flavor. This is why I’m a cook, why I have no less than a case of good wine at all times and I like a good rich cigar. The cigars I go for are usually medium to full flavor. I like Maduro and Oscuro wrappers mostly. This is not an exclusive thing though. There is nothing wrong with trying stuff out of the norm.
I have a few other hobbies besides the above mentioned. I play guitar in a band. I also build guitars and other assorted wooden projects. My next project might just be a humidor.
That should be it. You’ll get to know me more from here thought I don’t tend to share my personal life too much.

… Oh yeah, and the smoke shop I go to is owned by some crazy foreigners. Somehow I still think they’re cool
