Dave here, Love the finer things! love the price of less than finer things. somewhere in the middle lies me. was a cig smoker and I liked it for a while. then they really start to taste horrible. no really horrible. anyways, sticks are becoming a bigger passion in my life and I love matching them with "kind" beers. try a Stone Imperial Russian Stout with a Partagas Black. It will be the best 45 minutes of your week.[/img]

New to the site!

Hi all, Tim Lindley here from the outer burbs of Detroit!

Been smoking for a few years now. Love the CAO Brazilia Amazon! Looking forward to reading and posting!

Tim! You are about two weeks too late, my friend. You missed the biggest Cigar-B-Q in Mid-west history at my house. Tell us a little more about yourself. I live very close to you, in Commerce Twp. I am actually (secretly) planning another mini-sit-down for us Michiganders since the last one was so much fun.

Capt, Too bad I missed it, it would have been fun. I really enjoy smoking cigars with others! Definately let me know if you do another one. I have a neighbor that smokes as well. Infact we could do something out here as well.

A little about myself..... I am 44, Been married for 21 years. I have 2 kids and a new grand-daughter. For work I am a Unix Admin (computes) for EDS in support of GM. I golf, bowl, mountain bike. And love to relax with with a cocktail and a cigar! I love the caribbean...... :D

Welcome Dave and Tim!

Hey guys, my name is Nick.

I live in ABQ NM, I'm 21 years old and I've been smoking cigars for about 4 years. Started w/ Swisher Sweets (LOL) and have moved on to bigger and better things since then. I'm a big fan of CAOs, my favorite is prolly the Italia. I also like to go with some Sancho Panzas when I'm on a tighter budget. I recently got into some pipe smoking, I'm not too sure if I like it or not.

I've already learned so much here, last night I went thru first 24 pages of threads just reading. I'm very curious about 5 vegas and cusano 18s now :). I hope to jump in on the PIF thread soon.

See ya guys around!
-Nick

welcome. come on in. light one up.

i read in another thread that you dont have a humidor yet.

Before you get into PIF, buy one. You will be sent top noch cigars and leaving them out is tobacco abuse. Nothing worse than a dry Fuente, CAO, or 5 Vegas.

Welcome aboard, gonzo. You're doing it right, read everything you can, ask questions, smoke every cigar you get the chance to smoke, and take notes. As I'm sure you have or will read elsewhere, your first humidor, no matter how big, will be insufficient. It's happened to each of us and we wind up with enough humidors to open a store.

Nick, welcome to the forum. I am a few others smoke pipes too, I'll PM you for a link to our pipe forum.

Hi all!

My name is Ken and in case you didn't see it in the sig, I am living in fabulous Pittsburgh, PA.

I've recently gone back to the cigar passion after about...well...I hate to say this....10 years. (How I could have stopped, let alone stayed away for so long, I don't know.)

After finding this forum and reading all 84 (YES, all 84) pages of the Sunday Morning Smoke thread and countless other threads, I felt like I found a place where I wanted to hang out. Thanks for making this forum so inviting.

Tonight's cigar was a RP Vintage '92 that was gifted to me by somone that needed a place to stay and an ear to listen. They didn't need to thank me, but BOY OH BOY, I am glad they did!
:D

Welcome aboard, Ken. There are a lot of good people on this forum who live up around your area. I believe you'll enjoy yourself here. Kick back, light one up, and relax. You're in good company.

Welcome, Ken! I love the Sunday smokes thread. And, I'm gonna agree with you, those RP '92s are lovely smokes.

Welcome Tim, Nick and Ken.

84 pages? Wow...

Glad to have you all aboard.

Hi all,

I'm a long time smoker, maybe fifteen years now or so. I've never considered myself an "aficionado", I just enjoy smoking. I started with Dutch Masters, then climbed up the chain to premimum hand rolled cigars. Much like good wine, you can never go back to the cheap stuff!

I'm hoping to get some tips here, mostly n00b stuff, so be kind! Storage tips, and suggestion for new smokes.

I've never been very good at describing a cigar taste, I'm usually a "I like it" or "I don't like it" kind of guy.

Some of my all-time favorites are:

Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 Nat
Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur No.3 Maduro

Right now I'm enjoying:

Padron 3000 Maduro
Oliva "O" Classic Omin Nat
Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 Robusto

Welcome double D, Tim, Nick and Ken. I guarantee you'll enjoy your time here and find a ton of useful information about this great hobby of ours.

And don't forget to post your pics in the "Lets see who you are" thread.

Yeah! What Dejoro sadi!

DD you have some very good selctions in your faves, especially the 8-5-8's and the RP's....

Welcome aboard!!! :wine:

Not to needlessly bump this thread, but is there a thread for noobies like myself to ask questions? I'm a little intimidated by the high post count of some people here.

But I have a bunch of newbie questions that I'm sure have been answered, and searching hasn't gotten me anywhere so far.

just ask.

we wont make fun of you. We never get tired of talkin bout this stuff.

why do you think there are people in here with 2000 posts?

cos they like it. im sure a lot of those 2000 posts (maybe even most) are about what humidity they like their humis at and how they keep it there. We have discussed it before and well do it again. its what we do. its why we are here. this is how we have a good time.
