Sunday Morning just before 11 AM, I have had a pot of Brazillian Santos & a Maduro Masterpiece, what a way to start off the day !, the stuffed peppers are in the oven, the Sunday paper has been scattered over the Qtr.Deck & the grandsons are not here , I get a break this morning, got to sleep in till 6:30 am when nature called & said get your formerly fat behind out of bed & Drain the bladder !!!So I made the coffee got the paper , opened a Humidor , reached down to the bottom row & pulled out a Huge Sunday morning smoke , I was hoping for a Monte A , but this did just fine, Now I have had my Caffiene & Nicotene , now all I need is a weeee dram of single malt & maybe if the wife is in a good mood , well who knows hahahahah ! Enjoy, Vince

I just got a fantastic deal on a box of Hemingway Masterpieces at lilbrown.com. It's a beautiful morning across the land from you, bright, sunny, nice country day. Had my morning coffee, may have a cigar later on. Had a bad one yesterday. Oh well, there's always another cigar, hee, hee, heeeeee!!!

I like to start out the day with a Don Carlos #3 but today I was in the mood for a BIG cigar I opened the humi didnt look just doug down to the bottom row, hopping I would come up with the monte A that I have stashed in there, well I got the masterpiece instead, well I wasnt let down at all, it wasnt as full body as the Monte A would have been but I was not let down one bit , just over 2.5 hours of pure smoking pleasure , Miles Davis on the Cd player & some Jerry Garcia before the Mozart sonatas , a great mix to start the day, , but right now its time for some more Jazz! Enjoy, Vince

Folks, it's always great music, great drinks, whether coffee or spirits, great food and the best cigars with Vince. Just call it . . .

Club Vinny!!!!

And a Hemingway BLASTerpiece sure will take ya at least 2.5 hours to smoke, no matter who you are.

:D

The club is open 24/7 with a phone call to make sure I am home if your in the Pittsburgh area, PM me for the number & directions , Enjoy, Vince

Here we are back on a Wonderful Sunday Morning, I got home early this morning, I was Baby sitting the grandsons last night & got home about 2:30 this morning, by now I should have had a pot of coffee & a Don Carlos #3 all ready smoked, but alas I am still in my shorts & havent found a shirt as of yet, , the coffee is made & I did have one egg & one strip of bacon, now as soon as I get off the computer I will have my Sunday morning Cigar , but I better hurry it is almost my Sunday Afternoon cigar ! Enjoy, Vince

Here we are Sunday Morning again, I slept in a little this week but not as late as Last Sunday, I have a pair of Beef tenderloins marrinating in liquid smoke ,sun dried tomatoes, garlic & olive oil , they will be grilled later today . I made some brazillian santos coffee in the Freedom press pot & have a Diamond Crown Maximus Toro ready to fire up. I had the Don Carlos #3 at 9:30 this morning, it is just after 11 am now, so I should be ready for a Cigar right amout now, have a few CD's to put on & I cant think of a better way to listen to music that with a pot of coffee & a fine cigar, LIFE is Tuff, you need to smooth out the sharp edges with great Food & drinks, Music , Family ( but they are a lot of the sharp edges I am speaking about hahahaha ! ) Finding that eluding Inner peace determans if we are an extrovert or an introvert, , as social an animal as I am , I go inside to recharge the batterys, some go to a party , I go some place quiet to be alone with my thoughts, my coffee ,my music & a fine cigar , some times you just need to unplug the phone & sleep till after noon !
Well it is time to read the Sunday paper & look at all the ads for the Christmas gifts that the grandsons are asking for , Half of the stuff I have no idea what it is for !!
Enjoy, Vince

Vince, your posts are constantly orgasmic. You really get me going, especially with the food stuff. I also agree with the being alone thing, Lone Wolf that I am. As for those demanding grandsons, give them each a slap in the back of the head, a lump of coal in their stockings and tell them to be glad it's 2004 and not 19-Em-Effin-34. I'm sick to death of all this stuff that six year old's PLAN to GET for Christmas, PlayStations, action hero figures, etc., etc., blah, blah, can I freakin' vomit now???

Herbert W. Armstrong was right. There are two basic ways of living, the way of GIVE and the way of GET. Unfortunately, we've tolerated too much of the GET mentality in this country, and that will be our ultimate undoing.

Okay, enough of the preaching already, everybody have a cigar and get ready for three football games.

What a wonderfull Sunday, for a day that started to look like a crappy overcast day , well it sure did a complete turn around, the Steelers won again, the tenderloins were fantastic, the Freedom Frys were just short of perfection , if I do say so my self, the Maximus was as good as a maximus should be, now I have a pot of Santos brewing in the Freedom Press pot, go go with my Davidoff Double R , the Islay single malt is calling my name as I try to type this !!
Enjoy, Vince

Thanksgiving morning.

I am having a Party Short and some (3) cups of fresh ground French Roast Starbucks.

A killer bkfst will soon follow!

Good Thanksgiving morning to all, It is SNOWING here in the Burgh & I am sitting here with a cup of Coffee ( finishing up the decafe ) I did make a pot of columbian early this morning & had a Don Carlos #3 about 6 am , it was cold & windy for my morning walk, but the coffee & cigar made it OK, Now it is out to the kitchen & make stuffing for the Bird, it is & has been sitting in a brine solution since yesterday, it will go in the oven Breast side down at noon today, we plan on eating about 4/4:30. depending on what time the Grandsons get here. Whats this I hear, a bottle of Islay single malt is calling my name & a Davidoff Gran Cru is chanting Smoke me now, But I need to cook, I dont have time to sip & smoke, pluss I am on the computer , well I cant do it all, so I better get off the computer , & get started in the kitchen & by the time I get the bird in the oven it will be time for a scotch & cigar, Enjoy the parade & dont eat to much today hahahaha ! Enjoy, Vince

Happy Thanksgiving Vince, and every American everywhere. You gotta love a guy that smokes a Don Carlos #3 at 6 a.m. As far as turkey in brine, I happen to be watching Alton Brown doing that very thing on The Food Network right now.

May The Good Lord Jesus bless The U.S.A.

Alton Brown is one of my Favorites, he has a "different " out look on food & cooking than most TV chefs, I loved watching the Frugal Gourmet, Jeff Smith, rest his troubled soul, but after the charges were leveled on him PBS took him off the air, he had a wonderful show, almost like Mr.Rogers of TV chefs ,I still use some of his cook books !
Emeril is a KICK to watch, lots of energy , bobby flay is on the bottom of my list , he just comes off a little to pompus & arrogant, but as far as TV chefs, No one beats Julia Child, she was the best, if you could stand he voice !
it is past 12:30 everything is done but the potato dishes & the gravy, so I think I will have a sip & a smoke, Enjoy, & God Bless the food , the friends & family, Vince

Sunday Morning after Thanksgiving, a Turkey Omlet started off the day, a little swiss & chedder smoothed it out a bit, a pot of Peaberry Coffee made in the Freedom Press pot, 5 scoops & 24 ounces of water, 5.5 minutes & then Press, 2.5 cups of wonderfulllllllll coffee !, Looks like Turkey for supper AGAIN, we had a small bird just under 14 pounds, but the grandsons & son in law ate a lot but it seams I dont have the capascity I had in years gone by, I was watching the Glutony Bowl competive eating , how much can you eat of a theam item & keep it down, well the champ turned out to be a 135 pound Japaneese kid who smoked all the compitition, including a few 300 & 400 pounders, he is the same guy who ate over 50 Nathans Hot Dogs in 12 minutes , Mannnnnn thats going to the limit !
I will be baking some biscuts today & a white cream sauce , adding the cut up Turkey. The Cranberry sauce will get finished today , the yams didnt get past Thursday, But there are still some mashed potato's left, I might mix up a batch of cake donuts & add them to the batter, it was a trick I learned in the Navy to use up all the food, never toss anything away that can be used for some thing else, Bread pudding is a prime example, stale bread becomes Pudding, crutons or bread crumbs for deep frying.
I have a few checks from the cigar shop that bounced when we deposited them, so I will wait till game time & go to the guys house & try to collect , I hope he is having a bunch of friends over , I love to put these @$$holes on the spot in front of there friends, 2 checks , on for 40 & the other for 49, cost me 20 bucks each for bounced check fee, so I get a bunch of cash like 129 cash, or I take them to the Justice of the Peace & he will pay the 129 PLUS the fee the JP adds on for cost of the trial, I love it , this guy is such an @$$hole !, well its Coffee & cigar time, I did have my Don Carlos #3 at 7:30 this morning, now I think I will get into a Monte White Churchill , Kick off in 1 hours & 15 minutes , so I will be ready at half time ! hahaha, Enjoy, Vince

Ever dependable Vince has checked in. I tell you, those ex-Navy guys, you can set your watch and calendar by them. God bless Vince, and always with a tip or two about how to run a busy life in his posts, what to do with leftovers, quick coffee instructions, Don Carlos #7 at 3 a.m., or is it Don Carlos #3 at 7 a.m.? :D

Good to see you Vince, and thanks for the tip about cake donuts, etc. As for the guy with the bounced checks, bring along a gun just in case he's got a few friends over who are going to defend his bouncing checks to you. I've bounced plenty of checks in my life during hard times, and always eventually paid the individuals, small businesses or whatever they were in full, including their bank's fees, along with a respectful apology. So hopefully, he'll be more like me and not like a jerk.

As for that Japanese kid, don't tell me he's up to 135 pounds. I thought he was more like 100-115. He ate 53.5 hot dogs in the latest competition at Nathan's. If he's up to 135 though, then I'm afraid he's headed the same way as everyone else in the food business.

It is the Don Carlos #3 at 7 am , but I would like to try a Don Carlos #7 at 3 am anyhow .
Since I dont know where my wife keeps the check book I have never bounced one, I am not allowed to write checks, even though my name is on the account & I am the only one who ever had a job in this house, she writes all the checks, I went to the guys house at half time, he was there with a few of his buddys & a few beers under his belt, however he was quite confused that the checks bounced, he didnt get a notice from his bank, so he said, well I told him I would sit on them till the end of the month till his payday, make the checks good in cash, pay the 40 bucks for the bounced check charge & all will be good , if not I turn them over to the JP for collection, I have an other check only 9 bucks that bounced, I called the lady who wrote it & her mother told me she was in jail for passing bad checks, No Kidding, well I told her , come up with 29 bucks & make this one go away, if not it will be a 300 buck fine & an other 30 days in the county gray bar hotel, the mother said I will think about it, Whats there to think about 29 bucks vs. 300 bucks & 30 days , well she thinks it will teach her daughter a lesson, Yea right, what do you tell a woman with 2 black eyes, Nothing she was told twice & still didnt get it right!
I dont know what his real weight was, if he is 115 thats even more unbelievable, but what ever he is , HE IS A MACHINE ! The best I have ever done was 12 dogs, & that was with chili & onions on them, & it took longer than 12 minuts to do it, However I did eat 42 Perogies at one sitting, but again that was a long time at the table ( for thouse of you who dont know what a perogie is, think of a large ravoli filled with mashed potato , or Sour Kraut , or cottage cheese, or Prune butter, boiled, then tossed in melted butter & fried onions , a POLISH staple .
I am on my 3rd pot of peaberry coffee today, I feel like floating away, all set for my cigar ride tonight, have a Cuban Monte #2 .
Enjoy, Vince

Ah yes, the old "didn't get a notice from my bank yet" line. Tell ya what Vince, he got the notice at least two days ago, trust me.

I am sure he got a notice from his bank & I called & left a message on his answering machine, That he never got, BS !!!!!, well I know where he lives & his buddys know he is a dead beat, if he dosent pay, we go to the JP & Post his checks in the window for all to see, with the big NSF red stamp on the check, I hate to do this but if he is sticking us for over 120 bucks , he gets his some way, & maybe a trip to visit his place late at night, but he has a BIG DOG, But I have some ground Beef to take care of that, when the dog is busy eating , I can be busy getting my 120 , How much is a windshield for a Dodge truck? or a new set of Tires , or maybe both, I am sure his insurance will pay the first time , but not the third or forth time , no matter how long it takes he will not screw us again, hey maybe we can make it a monthly event, one time at home, one time at work, one time when he is shopping, PLINK> a new windshield , CO2 powered pellet gun makes verry little sound, & works just fine, Dammm I scare my self !!!!
Enjoy, Vince

You know he coupld very well be telling the truth about not receiving notice.

The new laws went into effect earlier in the month. Banks now have eliminated their float time, so when you deposit the check it is electronically presented.

That being the case, there is no reason to float a bad check. Either have the money or not.

Maybe its time to change store policy about checks?
