what did you smoke? 2

Don Tomas Cameroon Perfecto 1,
First impression took it out of the cello, smelled bad, like well....crap. It lived up to the initial smell after lighting, terrible smoke. First time I did not want to finish a cigar. Just set it down after smoking a quarter of it. I really wanted to like this cigar. I liked the shape, size, slow burn, nice draw.

i have 3 brands i have put down before even smoking hardly any... onyx, h upmann (NC), Don Thomas

i really wanted to like the upmann in particular. Just couldn't do it though.

just got back from a wedding... the groom was the son of the gentleman that owns the shop/club i belong to. He passed around 1926s so thats what i had :D And of course i was not complaining since its one of my favorites.

Tonight i will smoke if they will let me in the bar. I think an opus x is in order.

yesterday I had an A.F. 858 maduro courtesy of axegod, and I just finished a Rovanoff, I think it was a Churchill? Courtesy of Paul (Eclipse man). Pretty good, but I think it's too humid around here to smoke, because this thing canoed like mad, and I had the dangdest time keeping it lit. The first inch or so was excellent, but after that it was all downhill. :(
I have another, so I will wait til it stops raining every friggin day before I try it again.

Today I smoked an AF Curly Head Deluxe Maduro while I was grilling vegetables and meat kabobs.

I found a small tobaco shop a few miles away in a remodeled 7-11 store. Had a fairly large walk in humidor. They had a fair selection of AF, CAO, RyJ, Punch, Cusano, and a few brands I haven't heard much about. I picked up the Curly Head Deluxe Maduro and Cameroon, AF Hemmingway Classic and Short Story, Big Butt Gordito and El Camaron, Cusano M1 Torpedo.

The shop owner came in while I was paying and gave me a couple of humi-tubes and a couple of CAO Brazilia Sambas freebies.

Was he trying to hit on you ?! :p

Let's see I had a Cusano MC, Sombra Reserve Maduro, and a Honduran Primero. Surprisingly the best one was the primero, the worst was the Sombra.

Even to my beginner eyes the Sombra looked like a poorly made cigar. But the first few puffs it tasted great. Then it started burning really unevenly, inconsistent draw, and had harsh flavors. End of ash looked like a cartoon exploded cigar. Plus if I wanted an acceptable amount of smoke(?Terminology?) and a cigar not in danger of going out I had to keep it burning pretty hot. In the end it went out and I decided it wasn't worth the trouble to relight it.

I don't know why but I find it easier to figure out why I disliked a cigar rather than why I liked one.

same here

Had one more Honduran Primos left.....didn't taste any better than the first one....get what you pay for???? Looking forward to a Gran Hobanaro #5 Sunday!!

6/6:

Started off with an Oliva Oasis maduro, still have not had a bad one.

Hemmingway Classic maduro, once you get past the first few draws this one is terrific.

Fuente Añejo Shark, this is absolutely my favorite size in this line. The others are great too, but I can never get the cedar to burn evenly  Seriously though, always an even burn on this one. I just wish they came 25 to a box like the other sticks.

Had a great weekend!
Went to a beer fest on saturday...then a backyard party. Smoked a Cusano Corojo 96 in the afternoon. It was good...peppery, but I don't think as good as the 97s. Still...no slouch. In the evening, at home after the wife went to bed, I sat out back with a Gin and tonic and a Chateau Fuente...the perfect nite cap...it was a good day! :D

The newsletter put me in the mood for an edicion de silvio so I had the robusto. Not a bad smoke buy maybe a little too pricey.

I also had a honduran primero this weekend doing yardwork. Perfect in the yard cigar.

I gave my palate a break for the weekend to rest up for a week full of camacho corojo darks.

This morning I got up early and picked just over 25lbs. of apricots from one of my trees. The tree is still half full and I have another tree to go as far as apricots. After that I decided to have a Cuesta Rey Pyramid No. 9 sungrown that's been begging to be smoked for weeks. This was the best burning one I've had yet. Sadly after this picture was taken, it decided to lose a little weight. I'm just glad I made it to the ashtray in time

thats the most ash i have ever seen on a cigar! we should have a contest to see who can get the most ash to stay on their cigar. i think you have already won. maybe we could pick a specific cigar and all go from there?

Sounds cool to me! That's gonna be hard to beat tho...

Today I had a pre-embargo Cuban bildo sent to me. Started off good, awesome, even burn, but after a couple inches it just seemed to lose its flavor.

those pre embargos are good, but can loose their flavor. i smoke them wicked fast. No cigar today because i didn't get out of my last customer's home until 6pm.
We should do a longest ash contest!
i have been working on a good contest to have and will keep working on it. It shall live soon!!! :D

If you cheat and put a paperclip downt he center before smoking the ash will stay the entire smoke.

I remember reading somewhere about that. A politician (I think) used a thin wire so the ash would stay on. He would be amused by the attention his cigar received from reporters and onlookers.

interesting...I might have to try that sometime

I just had a Fuente Cuban Corona maduro...I bought a box of these a while back, but I had some trouble with my humidor and some of them got dried out and unsmokeable...I got my humidor back in order and left them in there for a couple months, then I put them in a baggie with a water pillow when I ran out of roon in my humi...They are smokeable again. :)
I kept trying to smoke them while they were recovering, but they kept tasting like plastic, so I finally just let them sit. I'm glad I did. Unfortunately, I only have three left now. :(

I'm smoking a Short Story while watching a car chase on the news. I guess this one is serious cause the driver has an automatic weapon and it's on fox news.

Anyway, I think the Short Story is slowly becoming my morning smoke.

I've been so dang busy I haven't had a chance to have a good cigar! :( I'm getting ready for this weekend though, I work the night shift at the ranch Saturday night and then turn around and work mornings on Sunday so they put me up for the night. I'm thinking about for a cigar that night having a CAO MX2 or maybe I'll run to the store and grab a RyJ Maduro. We'll have to see. My boyfriend had a CAO Brazilia the other day and said it was really good so I may have to get in on one of those.
