What Did You Smoke Today

tried a RP Edge corojo

a very pleasant cigar with a floral smell and taste that built throughout the smoke

BUT

the last third was so floral, and bitter, that I could not finish the cigar :(

Had a Pepin Blue Label last night w/a Chimay. It was pretty good, but needed to a touchup twice to fix an uneven burn. I like it more than the JJ but still tossing up between this one and the Cuban Classic.

Had a 5 Vegas Miami PC this evening. Very nice. Glad I got a box. I'll probablly wait a month or to more to see if there are any changes that I can notice.

Over the weekend my highlights were a Gurkha Titan and a Gurkha Beast....both very good, the beast being sweeter of the two.

Graycliff 99 vintage. Very smooth and buttery. Very enjoyable but a little loose so it burned faster than I expected. My first punch cut.

I had the first cigar I've had in about 2 weeks due to a nasty chest cold. So I had a Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 robusto box pressed. It was a very nice cigar. Good flavors of cedar with a little touch of vanilla and lots of earthiness.

The price on these are not bad and was a nice afternoon post-physical therapy smoke.

I'm heading out for a doctor visit. Depending on what she says, it's either an Opus X on the way home, or nothing for a long time.

Today I had a couple of firsts. I had my first Hoyo de Monterrey Hoyo de Tadricion. Very good cigar with deep taste and a buttery cedar finale.

Thanks to all that showed concern for my health. I look at it this way, who am I going to listen to and heed? A doctor that has examined me, used a modern sphygmomanometer to measure systolic and diastolic pressures, phlebotomized my veins, A&D'd my sphincter, or a doctor I have come to know and trust on various boards through the years. You're damn right, I'm going with DocBarry (from cA and HCF) on this one.

With a history of transient ischemic attacks in the family, I got concerned over a few things my doc found. She gave me a diet, exercise regimen, and some meds. Numbers are looking much better, and as with all pleasures in life, moderation shall be the key with my diet, alcohol, and cigars. So, I'm hoping to be able to stick to what she told me, and maybe kick these meds in a year or so. I can always dream...

With that in mind, my one and only cigar today will be a Partagas Mille Fleur.

Glad to hear it Colonel! Had a Monte #4 with coffee when I got up. Good way to start a day even if it is 1500 hrs.

I actually fell asleep while posting this...

The other first I had was a Gurkha Crest....an unbelievable cigar with complex spices and wonderful aroma....cant wait to get some more of these...anyone know when it releases?

bummer

Cusano 18 Paired Maduro...horrible =( I'm a cusano fan and while the start of the stick was good...the build failed. Went out twice and burned beyond uneven. I am putting my money on it just being a fluke.

My brother had a Cusano 18 Double Conn and it smoked wonderfully.

Bane - I really didn't care for the PM very much at all, the DC is much better IMHO.

The last few days I've smoked almost nothing but Pepin cigars. 5 Vegas Miami, Cabaiguan, JJ Maduro, DPG Blue Label, and a few DPG Cuban Classics. The Cabaiguan, with a natural wrapper, didn't pack quite the punch I'm used to from Pepin, I doubt I'll be buying any more. It was far from bad, just not what I prefer in a cigar.

I smoked with my dad for the very first time last night! Quite an enjoyable experience. We didn't get upset at each other or try to kill on another! He smoked a Gurkha and I smoked a CAO MX2 paired with a mexican Coca-cola.

I may have found a new smoking buddy!
