What Did You Smoke Today

I had a Camacho belicoso earlier. I won't make that mistake again.

Tonight, it's about 72° on the veranda. I'll be sitting out there with a Saint Luis Rey "A".

Had a Rocky Patel sungrown. Had a really tight draw, but opened up towards the middle.

Is this typical?

I would think that if you have a cigar that opens up, then the end was swelled a bit. Possibly it was exposed to high humidity for a short period, but not long enough to travel through the whole cigar...just my guess....

Chances are you just had a plug. When that happens it is best to either set the cigar back down as a long rest can help. If that is not an option you can gently roll it in your fingers to loosen or run a draw poker down the center. I have done it and actually heard snaps as the twig and or plug broke.

Today was quite a day for smokes.....

Started the day with a CAO CX2, moved on to a RP Olde World Reserve Corojo, after lunch had a 5 Vegas Cask Strength, and for the ride back to the yard I had a 5 Vegas Classic. 8)

had a Victor Sinclair 10 anniversary

started with some cedar/woodsy tastes with a strong spiciness that mellowed out after the first half inch and lingered (the spiciness) growing and shrinking throughout the cigar, led to a earthy leathery flavour and built to a very full leathery spicy flavour at the end.

The burn was consistently sporadic in that it would have an inch or inch and a half run and then ridiculously correct itself without any lighting touch-ups

very good cigar, I will most likely re-order

also, hatchetman, how is the cask strength and whats it like?

The cask strength has that 5 Vegas taste to it, that salty leathery taste with a touch of "fermenty"....if that makes sense...i have a box resting right now, when i have the proper time to do it justice, ill put up a review...but i can tell you that it is something i suggest everyone try once...girthy, great taste with a strange body...medium yet strong with nicotine. an after lunch or after breakfast smoke...perfect after both...havnt' had after dinner, but im sure....wait...im just babbling....

its good. 8) more to come.....

I smoked a cibao a casuality of the cigar boom little bitter but it had it's moments. I'm firing up a padilla miami or a gurca grand age this Sat for the Michigan OSU game GO BLUE!!!

RP vintage 1990

decent smoke I think I might like 92 better but after I was finished I realized I smoke it further than I've smoked anything for the past two weeks or so

so that must count for something hahaha

Today while workign from home I have been slowly working through a JOSE L PIEDRA CONSERVAS. I have had to sit it down about 5 to 6 times to either do work or run after kids. Its been a good stick. Full bodied with a very good even burn. Teh draw is good too. Straight forward cuban tobacco flavor. Nothing fancy, just a good cigar that doesn't ask for attention or reflection. Just enjoyment!

hummmm

Gurkah Titan complete with bloom!! Really lacked complexity but still was a smooth and enjoyable smoke. Built well, good draw, great smoke and smell...really really short cap though. Cutting was annoying (have to get back to the shooting range to make my .45 punch cutter for large rings :D )...I'll prob buy again if I see it on a special. 8.5

I pretty much agree w/him on the 5V Cask Strength, it's like the Classic but "fuller" in all the areas. Resting does it wonders. I just had one that was 6 months in the humi and it much better than when new. I didn't really care for them a whole lot when I got them, but after smoking one that was well rested, I'm seriously thinking of picking up a box before they're all gone. It mellows out a bit and more of the subtle flavors come out.
