What Did You Smoke Today

I had one of those recently. Very nice. I was looking at another in my humidor the other day, but chose something else. It won't be long for that other Torano 1916.

Those Carlos Torano 1916's are indeed very good. I've never had a bad torano either. The Casa Toranos are one of my Favorites. They really know their stuff.

Thanks to my too generous friend RAAVYN, I am currently enjoying a Camacho Corojo Toro while typing at my desk. It's filling the office with a wonderful aroma!

Thanks again dood!

Smoked a CAO Sopranos Soldier (the toro) yesterday to celebrate getting into Georgetown Law School. Now, hopefully the Navy will let me go there and laterally transfer to the JAG Corps. The cigar was great, but I think they can rest a little longer and get even better. Today, I think maybe a CX2 if it just warms up a little bit more.

are those cx2s any good? the price is a little too high for me.

I smoked a couple when they first came out. They were pretty good, but not to the extent of what they cost. There are better cigars out there for ten bucks. This one's been sitting in my humidor a couple of months now.

i wish the mx2s werent so hard to find, id pay 10 bucks a piece for them.

Had dinner at Gibsons last night. This resturant is a great steakhouse in a swanky part of chicago. Is the part of town where you will see a guy with a girl and you will site there for an hour trying to figure out if it is his wife or daughter. Very Big $$$$, so it is always fun to people watch.

I had a Alec Bradley Pryme before dinner, not a bad smoke. Finished my meal and had an anejo No. 49, just thought it was so so. Tasted like it needed more time in the humi.

I had a Rocky Patel Sun Grown Torpedo. One of my favorites. Yesterday I had an Arturo Fuente Hemingway Signature. Very good.

First, congrats asharpe, and tonight on the daily commute home from work, I had a really good Cusano Hermanos Vintage. I really liked the draw on this one, it was a harder draw that stayed consistent througout the smoke.

My local shop always has the MX2 in stock...I need to try one.

Smoked half a CX2 churchil torpedo( think it was a churchill, it was massive). Think was like a boat anchor, very heavy cigar. Had a lot of burning and draw problems. I just couldnt get the cigar to draw easily..wasnt enjoyable, so I set it down.

CX2's are quite good--if you rest them. The need at least two months I think before you can smoke them.

Tonight I started out with a natural domestic Trinidad from the box pass. I accidently shifted the cutter while clipping it though and it started to unravel. No matter what I did I couldn't get the wrapper to stay on right so I had to toss it. I felt like crying.

After that I had the Chateau Fuente Cuban Belicoso I just bought. Even though I didn't rest it it was a fantastic smoke. Had a few burn problems and drew a little tight but that was really to be expected after not resting it. As soon as I gather some cash I gotta get a box of these.

Hmm, this one had about a month on it. Ive got another in the humidor that Ill try in another month. I think it was just a simple cause of bad QA controll, which happens to every company. I definatly want to give it a try again.

Ahh. lol...Ive read on here from some guys that theyll have a bad roll, leave it out overnight somewhere, and alla sudden its a good cigar... :?:

Assuming you're smoking properly, there are two reasons a cigar will give you a bad burn. The first is humidity. Moisture within the cigar has to be equalized otherwise the leaves will burn at different rates. The second is a bad roll. This implies that it was either rolled too tight or too loose or the leaves, when bunched, were not done so evenly. Certain leaves burn at different rates by themselves. A good way to prevent getting these cigars is to first of all check to see that the cigar is not soft yet still not hard. It should have a little give but not so much that you can create an indentation. Also, check the foot of the cigar, it should look like a fingerprint with the filler bunched in on itself. You don't want it too close to the wrapper; it should be relatively uniform all around.

Well, I finally smoked that CX2. Yesterday, it never did warm up enough for me to spend 90 minutes outside smoking. It spent about 3 months in my humidor and was the last one I bought when they first came out.

The others were pretty good, but a little harsh. I figured I'd give this one a try after some time in the humidor and then stick to CAO Cameroons in the future. Like iminaquagmire said, give them a couple of months, because this cigar improved so much!!

I smoked the Toro. The draw and burn were absolutely perfect, and it was spicy but slightly sweet all at the same time. It was everything I like in smoking a cameroon but better. I nearly burned my fingers trying to finish it. The flavor didn't change much as I was smoking it, but I was glad that it didn't. I'm not sure how it could have gotten much better.

I still haven't smoked an Opus X or a Cuban (I can't find Opus X's here yet), but this thing was better than anything I've had other than a Padron 1964 Anniversary. If you tried them when they first came out, give them another chance because this thing was amazing. It was well worth nine bucks.

There was the problem I guess...the damn thing was solid as a rock...like it was filed with toothpics. Definatly the tightest roll Ive encountered so far...
