Tee Time Golf

....but if I put a gun rack on my golf cart........hmmmmmm. CC? I may need help this weekend retrofitting my golf cart!

Well, instead of CC yelling "PULL" all he needs to say is "FORE" from now on.

Bleah. I can't believe it! I've got some kind of tendonitis going on in my left hand ring finger! I can't grip anything in my left hand! And my ring finger locks in the closed-grip position, unable to extend without using my right hand to snap it back in place! UGH! Less than a month away from my 1st tournament (friends and co-workers)!

This totally sucks big time!

Went to the doctor yesterday. Doc says I have "trigger finger" and need physical therapy and surgery because my tendons are damaged.

Has anyone ever encountered this? What did you do to remedy yourself?

I have a golf tournament in 3 weeks which I have been preparing for since I got my 1st set of clubs 7 months ago.

Need advice.

i think im the only person on this forum that does not play golf.
I've never played. But, I've been talking to the "Armored Truck Guy" that does a pick-up at my work about golf. We've talked about going together but, it seems to be just that, talk (he also smokes cigars, by the way.)

I want to learn but, I don't know anyone who does. *DOH!*

What's some advice for a newbie (or possible newbie)?

Is this another expensive hobby I shouldn't touch until I know I can afford it?

But Capt, it involves a lot of cigars, good company, and beer cart girls!
A friend of mine was a "beer cart girl." She's easy on the eyes and had no problem getting mad tips.

tipsy golfers = great tippers.

Brenda, I'm too new to offer any advice for another newbie. But what I can offer to you is to go out to a driving range with a golfer friend and hit some balls with their clubs. Get some tips and lessens from you golfer friends. And once you get hooked, take some lessens from golf trainers. I haven't had any pro lessens because of cost. But hopefully will try to get some next year once I'm done spending money on upgrading my golf equipment.

My latest toy: Taylormade R7 460 driver, 10.5deg, Regular Flex RE*AX Fujikura graphite shaft that my wife bought yesterday. Was on sale at Costco for $250. Looks nice. Wish I could try it out. But gotta wait until my hand heals up. Love my wife for buying it though. At least this is ONE hobby she supports me. She also said I BETTER play good with this club. Love her!

Went to hit some golf balls yesterday to see if my grip is back. Nope! Still painful when I make contact with the ball, and my ring finger can't close on the grip. Only my index and middle finger (left hand) is holding on to the club at the finish, with the right hand for support. Losing about 30-50 yards, and a heavy slice on the drive since the face seems to be opening with the lack of the ring and pinky fingers on the grip. The only club I can handle is my putter.

I'll be getting cortisone (?) shots next Tuesday into my tendons. Did anyone go through this process?

BTW, I'm still playing this Friday. That par 5 500+ yrd hole will be a hell of a long putt.

the shot will hurt for a while..just make sure that you get the shot a day or so before the game...

I work at a golf course. It sucks to work there for 8-10 hours a day and then try to go galfing for free. Last thing I want to do is spend more time at work. Its nice to get the free golf and it comes in handy when I want to play and bring a friend for free. I am not very good but could be a lot better if I would play instead of go home and work around the house.

Got the cortisone shot today.

I must admit, this was one of the most painful shots I have ever experienced. The doc said if this 1st treatment doesn't do it, then I'd have to repeat it. I told her no ways! THIS MUST and WILL WORK!

My finger seems to hurt more now than it did before the shot.

T - you ever try http://www.rockbottomgolf.com? They don't have a huge selection - but when they have something you want - the price is usually the lowest around.

BTW - hit the course for probably the last time this year. 65 degrees out - nice for me. Plus a couple of smokes. Ahhhhhh.

I've checked out rockbottomgolf. Good prices.

65* is very nice to play in. 1 more week till my tournament. I hope our weather stays the same at 65-70*F.

Wow did anyone else see that putt Tiger made on 13 today. 65 feet 9 inches, down and then back up. Put it within a couple of inches. Tiger is unstopable.

I saw that. Tiger made quite a comeback since his performance from round 1. Round 3 and 4 were very good. Can't say much for Phil and Vijay. Charles Howel III is still very impressive too.

V- vs U- grooves: U to be banned by USGA?

I personally use U-grooves on my wedges. Sure, I can't make the ball roll back like the pro's if my life depended on it.

I agree with the USGA, in that it'll make the pro's concentrate more on accuracy than rely on roll-back on the greens. But what about us hackers who don't come close to those pro's? Well, I'm more of a weed-wacker than a grass hacker, as I'm always finding myself on the outskirts of the rough.

More info about banning U-grooves can be found on golfdigest.com or any other golf magazine website.

What are your thoughts?

I think u-grooves should be banned to just those folks named Kelvin on cigar forums. 8)
