Tee Time Golf

Which Callaway balls did you have in mind?

HX Tour (2006 version): good 3-piece ball for faster swing speeds. Very good distance (if you have the swing speed), excellent around the greens, and checks stick on the greens with some roll back.

HX Tour 56 (2006 version): another 3-piece ball that's softer than the HX Tour which makes it a little better for slower swing speeds. Same around the greens as the HX Tour.

Both Tour and Tour 56 covers are very thin, and will scuff easily with your wedges after a few holes. If you happen to hit the cement cart path, you're better off using a new ball at the next hole. At $40/dozen, it's not a ball worth losing.

Big Bertha (2006 and 2007 version): 2-piece ball that's good for slower swing speeds, beginners, and amateurs. Good distance. Not as much spin as the HX Tour/56 on the greens, but still very playable. Cover is more durable than the HX Tour/56. Didn't notice any difference between the '06 and '07 versions.

HX Pearl (2006 version): 3-piece ball. Very good for the slow/moderate swingers. Checks nice on the greens and sits when you need it. Cover has a pearlescent finish, which actually sparkles in the sun. Suppose to make it easier to find on the course. Similar finish to that of the Nike Mojo ball.

HX Hot '07 version: still haven't taken my sleeve out to the course yet to try this out.

I've been using the Warbirds this year - great price - $12-$14 dozen - results have been pretty good - shot an 85 on Thursday with them.

I have played with HX Tour and they played very long. I just have a tough time justifying the price.

This summer has been hell. I think I have only played 3 or 4 times.

I know for sure I get to play September 8th in a 2 man scramble with my neighbor. Other than that who knows. I may play on my birhtday next mont also. I need to start playing a minimum of 3 times a month. Keeps me in balance :D

I hear ya! I've only played 9 times this year. I'd like to get back to playing at least 2 rounds/month. Keeps the humidor consistently rotating. :D

Season pass and nothing to do all summer...priceless. 8)

Probably won't be a better time to go golfing, that is until I eventually retire.

Sure rub it in!!! :throwrock:

Are you guys even interested in the Fed Ex Cup? I have been trying to follow the rules and format. Pretty confusing. They are in a playoff now, whatever that means. Do they have a final of match play with the seedings? Then of course the number 1 plaer only has played at the end 16 tournaments, how is this helping?

Any thoughts?

Just played a round with Nike Ignite golf balls - I played out of my a** today and shot an 80. I am liking those babies - got a good deal on them at rockbottomgolf.com.

Anybody else use these?

They have a sale at RockbottomGolf.com - 3 dozen for 44.99 plus 10% off - they are normally $25/dozen.

The weird thing is that they are in 2-packs.

For that price I ordered 6 dozen. With Birthdays coming up, I can use a couple dozen just for gifts!!!

I ordered 6 dozen last week, I may order some more after today's round. With Rockbottomgolf - you have to order good stuff while they have it - when it's gone, it's gone.
