Blind Box Pass, the original

Isn't that what the Good Traders and Stand Up Folks thread is about?

I know ahoffpsu is a friend of Robert's, and he was in on the last pass, his put/takes were the same time as Roberts.

I hope I don't get dog-piled for this one, but....

We recently experienced some long delays and fear of loss with this past pass. At the time it seemed that the participants wanted to have future members be a little "seasoned" prior to joining.

I'm not exactly clear at what I'm feeling here, but I would like to see a little caution. Is there any criteria we can use to feel comfortable with newer members until we all get to know each other?

I followed the last pass, and all the frustration that went with one leg of it's journey. So I understand the reasoning behind wanting some criteria for joining the next pass. That being said, I am one of the new guys here on the forum, and want to make it clear that I do not mind being subjected to some sort of screening process. There is nothing personal about it, and it is for the good of the members involved in the pass. I am not sure what those criteria will be, but I willingly undergo it. Even if this means that I wait for a future box pass. Afterall, there is a fair amount of investment involved, especially for the person who starts the pass. I can't speak for the other new guys, but I think that anyone can understand the need for some "seasoning" as BP put it.

I would understand if I needed to meet some criterea to be in this pass. I have made one trade on the sydicate and one pif here. There is a fair amount of trust involved in this pass and I will do what ever the group would like. I would also understand if I had to wait for next time. I do hope to be involved in this pass as well as future trades and such.

First, YES I would like to be in this Box Pass
2. I like the 2 box plan
3. I like the cross box plan
4. (I hate to admit this) I think PB is right. Caution should be taken. I'm, new...er. I've made a few trades with some of you, done a few PIF's. I'd gladly wait till the next box pass if you wish. BUT we should agree on a set of rules to be able to join the Box Pass. A number of posts, trades, pif's etc. Whatever you all want to do.

Once a fellow smoker has participated in a few PIF's with good results, I think everyone feels more comfortable. In my opinion, it's one of the great processes that cements our friendships here.

Scott, I know from personal experience how good your PIFs are :D :D :D

i understand all that and can wait for a future pass or until i become "eligable"...im a vet on some other forums so i know how the "newb cautiousness" goes, lol

PIF = Pay It Forward

EDit: this has also become the general term used for gift and trade packages here on the forum.

He's so eager that he posted twice!

The cross pass is a good idea. I'll smoke a cigar for it, just like Kelvin, but I'll smoke another cigar because Kelvin had time to smoke a cigar!

That's a great idea, Robert..

Hey wasn't there a 1 PSU student limit at a time on the box pass???? Adam I think you will need to send me some sticks so I can work on that rule revision. :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

lol..

I appreciate all the comments made here. I agree with the need for cautiousness with a pass. You new members can go back through this thread and see what happened in the pass and why some of these existing members in the pass stress being cautious.

But I have also been on the other side. I was a member less than a month I think, when I got in on the first pass started by digarsmoka. I was determined to uphold the trust someone would show by filling a box with cigars (some expensive) and send it out for a pass. That's all I would say to any new member. Take part in the forum threads, take part in the PIF or look for trades, and do your best to show everyone that you're a stand up person. Let everyone get to know you as a person and good trader.

All that being said, are the new members up for the pass? Are the existing members ready to see what these guys are made of? Does anyone want to wait and let everyone get to know you better before you join in on a pass? If anyone has any comments that you want to make privately you can PM to me.

I understand the concen, for what happend last time, Id be concerned to. All I have is bobs word on my honesty, trustworthyness, etc.

I dont mind waiting for the next pass though if that makes people feel better, thought the other one went pretty well though, other than the whole syntax deal.

Dude, you are staking your rep on Robert?

Im up for anything. Any way is good for me. If the veterans want the new guys to wait, im cool with that. Maybe the new guys can start our own box pass with som less inexpensive, but still good cigars, and see how it goes. That way, the older guys can breathe easier, and the new guys can still get in on the fun.
