Blind Box Pass, the original

In all seriousness, I do understand that folks are a bit nervous about including very new members in the box pass. I don't mind taking the chances with sticks I am putting in (mostly because they will be crappy) - but I don't want to speak for others. I think there has to be some criteria as BP suggested - and that this should be discussed a little more before a decision is made.

Any ideas on what criteria should be used? Let's discuss this so we have an idea how folks feel or as Dbrad said - send him a PM and let him know what you think.

We have had a bit of strife here in the last month and a half - so I think we need to take some steps to ensure we don't have a repeat of the past.

Sorry if this is unpopular, but lets all put in our 2 cents so that a decision can be made.
 
How about something like having to have at least two or three favorable comments in the "good traders and stand up folks" thread by people you have had previous trades with? Just a suggestion, and the number of required comments should be determined by the veterans of the last box pass. I think this is an issue that need to be addressed for this and all future box passes, so that there is no question in the future...

That ways totally gets rid of new guys like me who havent traded with any1 yet. Thats y i suggested a newbie box so the newer guys can practice

Maybe we should just find a few old timers, and trade some sticks back and forth and catch the next pass, or the one after?

I will put my neck out here, and if I am out of line, someone shut me down.

I feel the screening process is not to cause anyone offense, but to give us new guys the chance to put some time in here on the forum. The purpose of a trade is not an "entrance fee" to the box pass, but rather a means to devlope a reputation, to build friendships and to promote a trusting sense of community.

Dean has potentially several hundred dollars on the line (double that for two boxes) And he is trusting everyone with that investment for several months of passing. To be trusted in this way should be a privilage reserved for those that have undergone the "rites of passage". This is not meant to be an insult to anyones character or integrity. but as goal to look forward to.

I do not mean to be melowdramatic, I just think that we new guys need to understand that these guys/gal have invested a lot of time (not only in posting to the forum, but also in trading and gifting to one another) to develope the amount of trust and friendship that allows them to do a pass such as this, and that they cannot...SHOULD not include those of us that have not yet established themselves fully in their community. There are many other chances for us to join in these activities on a smaller basis by the PIF and by general trading. We need to be willing to climb this ladder, if you will, one rung at a time.

I think I have said enough on this topic, and QUITE enough cliches. I leave the decisions to those already involved, but as a testiment to my little speach, I withdraw my name for consideration in the next box pass.

Nicely put my friend. I definately agree with all you wrote. I'm with Spider on this one, I'd be glad to wait for a future pass also.

who new you could write like that :lol:
 
I think if you go back and look that Syntax was a good guy too, untill........well anyway, go back and read and then I think its up to the guy (or gal) who is putting the box together, to make the list. After all, it is the box makers investment.

Well put, btw Spider. I am hoping the Trade thread will help facilitate the rite of passage for the newer guys.
 
Spider, I could not agree with you more, I hope that my trade offer did not come off as trying to buy my way in. I just thought "Hey now is a great time to start" I am not sure if I would be real hot to trot sending a couple hundred dollars in sticks out there to someone that just signed up. I Intend to be a valuable member of this comunity, Wich anybody would like to make a trade or pif or even the box pass. If it takes a few more months and more trades so be it, I look forward to meeting everybody and I hope you all like the out come of any future trades that we may do.

Barcochris, I was not trying to single any one member out in my statement. I have only been here a little over a month, and am just now getting to know some of the other members here as well. I have already made some good friendships here that go beyond the scope of this board, and hope to make more. I, like I am sure everyone else, welcomes all the contributions of newcomers, and look forward to getting to know everyone better. I just believe that a new person should EASE into a community....not BURST in... again, not singling out anyone in particular. Comradery is aquired gradually, but lasts forever (yeah I know, I just made that up :lol: )

Ok, for good, bad, worse, whatever ...

I have read all the posts and all the PM's and have spent the weekend pondering it all. Taking into consideration the references and recommendations from the existing pass members, I have decided on our final roster.

If you have been left off the roster this time it's nothing personal against anyone. There will be other passes to be part of and there are trades and the PIF going on all the time. Participate in the forum discussions, PIF, and trades, and let everyone get to know you better. Enough beating the dead horse.
