Ahhhhh, I see. She gets a ring, and you get peace of mind. Oh well, after 35 years, I guess she doesn't need to give you anything else. Peace of mind is reward enough in itself. :cryinlaugh:

Yes THIS MONDAY AS IN THE NEXT DAY FROM SUNDAY, tickets are available at most of the big cigar shops in the area, Blawnox, Station Square, Sewickley or you can order from the will call & pay by CC right from the Pirates, pick up the ticket at the left field entrance , the cigars are at the seating area under the score board, the old Ledo deck, now just called the" Deck", look for me , I will be in a straw had with a few Navy pins on it, ( if I dont forget to ware it )hahaha, maybe a Viet Nam Vets black leather vest its its not to warm, but look for a rather large guy with a full beard, it might be me , might not, I dont know who all will be there but the full beard will cut down on the number of people you will need to ask are you Vince hahaha ! I dont plan on shaving any time soon, grew it in 1970 hope to have it when I check out to the big smoking lounge in the sky !!! , but I am in no hurry to get there right now hahaha ! Enjoy, Vince

The weather in the Virgin Islands has been less than great this week. We’ve had 3 tropical storm fronts move through with little damage but lots of wet. Since this Winter hereabouts, ferry service from island-to-island gets cut back and the ferries that run all year long tie up at their moorings and go no where at all during squalls (traveling is a lot trickier and since cars don’t float, I had to take a seaplane to the Caymans and to St. Kitt’s on biz).

The operators of the seaplanes are a friendly group, know that I’m a cigar smoker and hence (since several like a good smoke) are always interested, i.e., I’ve learned to load up before a trip where I have to go by seaplane. I brought along Sancho Panza Sanchos and torched the stick after landing on St. Kitt’s. This is a creamy smooth smoke; starts off with peppery wood flavors, a voyage of spicy aromas and on into a leathery third phase. It had a perfect even draw. IMO this would be a cigar for the experienced smokers.

Since it was early (6:00 a .m.) when we left (sea plane takes about an hour) I’ve learned to take a thermos most places I go if I want coffee. Island time can be any time the proprietor feels like opening. Plus there are lots of tea drinkers (influence of the Brits; they left sports like cricket, soccer and tea. I tried out a new coffee blend called Panama Esmeralda. It has a lemony acidity and a different jasmine-like fragrance. Panama Esmeralda grows only above 5,000 feet, at the highest altitude of Panama’s Boquete region. These beans were originally native to Ethiopia. A Sancho complements this coffee very well, early in the morning.

That evening after dinner I took out a Cohiba Siglo VI Canonazo. IMO the Siglo VIs are one of the best cigars ever from Cuba. totally creamy, smooth as silk, with notes of musk, spice, earth and wood. Of course I am totally biased because Cohiba, for the most part, is my all time fave.

I’ll be leaving to join the family the end of next week. Early harvest is in and wine is being made in the Valley. By tradition they will tap a cask that is 10 years old and one from the batch that are pickings from the new harvest. That, is always interesting and enjoyable. But wine can be very deceptive especially the grower’s reserve. Terrible headaches. As Ernest Hemingway said: "Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut."

My father in-law has a large cigar collection and I become the village looter whenever I’m there. But at the moment, with my Siglo VI and a glass of Macallan (18 year old) I doubt if it could be much better: It's robust in flavor, very refined and mellow in character. A little bit smoky, a little bit sherry, and woody. The guy who poured it, assured us that this is what God keeps a bottle of for special occasions.

Cian, You make me want to stop in & visit every time you post, The coffee sounds great , I have been drinking a lot of African coffees lately & enjoy them a lot, as well as the Central American stuff witch is transplanted African Beens , & I guess as all coffees are transplanted African Beens .
I just finished a box of Sancho Panza Torps,( I split them with a local Police officer ) a great smoke , I will be ordering an other asap, from Hong Kong Via Vancover B.C. Canada, one way to get them here in the good old USA , its good to have low friends in High places but in my case its "High" friends in low places hahaha !
As far as the Scotch, I do enjoy the 18 Y.O. Macallen as well as the cask strenght Macallen , I am on my second bottle of Laphroag
this year, if you want smoke this is the one ! WOW just make sure the cigar is strong enough to stand up to it , for a little less smoke & a lot of taste the 16 Y.O. Lagavulin , for my every day run of the mill wee dram I enjoy the Speyburn 10 Y.O. , the price is right & I dont mind that one bit, I did a blind tasting a few years ago & was suprised the winner was the Speyburn, when I found out it was under $25 a bottle I was floored & have been enjoying it ever since , I am working on a Dalmore 21 Y.O. right now, just finished a La Tradicon 1993 vintage Churchill that I have had in the humi since 2000 , rosado wrapper , all I can say is WOW, smooooooth & creamy, tons of flavor & a nice little Cigar buzz to go with the Kenya AA.
Enjoy, Vince

When you think about it, just about everything's from Ethiopia or thereabouts, and every one too.

Hi Vince ! Saturday was the annual Family Corn Roast. It is held at the ancestrial home in Rogers Ohio, just down river from you. THe menu this year was varied. We started out with 2 gal. of Margerita's, Then I boiled (in Stonys Beer) 5 lbs of shrimp servrd with homemade Coctail sauce. Next was the fresh Tuna. Seared for 90 sec on both sides and served with a soy and wasabie sauce. The ribs were next. Two racks, rubbed the night before and slow cooked for about 2 hrs. The bonfire was started at noon to get the coals to roast the corn. It was a hot day to have a fire but we had to have the coals. The ears of corn went on at 1530 for the 45 min it takes to roast them up right. We do a half a bushel at a time. while the corn was roasting we cooked up the hamburgers and hot dogs for the one who weren't full yet. The coarn came out on time. You pull the husks back, pour on the butter, salt and pepper an start eating. It seemed extra tender this year. All in all it was a pretty good time. We did have a short thunderstorm, as you may have seen, but it didn't slow anything down but the second batch of corn. All in all it was a great day. Oh yea cigars, we hit a box of RyJ Churchill Maduro's real hard.

Tom , you were in Rogers Ohio & didnt stop for a cigar or a scotch ??? dammm that corn must have turned to cornwhisky in the fire hahahaha Enjoy, Vince

I just got back from the hospital, Mike has a slight movement in his left foot, & did say a few words today , like Kiss my Stinky @$$ , he is doing MUCH better & his sence of humor is still there !!
Thank GOD, Enjoy, Vince

There was a cigar night at PNC park last night, the Pirates lost to St.Louis 3 to 1 but a good time was had by all us Cigar smokers about 300 of us all Under the score board, puffing away trying to cover the scoreboard in smoke , for a 20 you got a ticket to the game & 3 Cigars , a Punch rothchild ( I gave it to the Usher along with 2 bucks for cleaning off my seat ) , a Toro sized Helix , that I lit up & tossed away about 1/4 of the way into it, & a Realllllly nice Sancho Panza maduro Churchill, but I did have a few sticks in my 3 finger case & a few "Tubed " Cubans for trade & to smoke on the way home , it was a great night at the ball park, we do it all again Sept 19 ! Enjoy, Vince

That sounds like a great time! I wish I could have made it. Isn't there another one of these next month sometime?

I'm not sure, but I have a feeling that's what he meant by "we do it all again September 19th." Not sure, you might want to check with Vince.

I love Vince's avatar too. I've been a big fan of Isaac Hayes since 1969 or thereabouts, the Shaft Album. It is filled with incredible music, especially the 20 minute closing song.

Bloofy, Vince's little picture has NOTHING to do with Isaac Hayes. There you go again, to much of that roll it yourself stuff. I would really like to go to the next ball game BUT I am scheduled for a short trip to the Gulf for a ship visit. I wish they had cigar night at the Norfolk Tides. Sounds like a great time Vince.

Hey I almost forgot, there was a BBQ in the parking lot before the game, all you can eat brisket, ribs & chicken with the standard sides ,cole slaw ,potato salad baked beans, corn on the cob,a nice selection of fresh baked fruit pies & a keg of Iron City all for 25 bucks & you got cigars there also, but I didnt go to eat, I have to keep this diet on track if I want to live an other 20 /25 years . just under 250 now, holding at about 247 thats 170 pounds GONE since April of 2004. , Tom , Maybe you can still make the game, have the ship sent up the Ohio insted of going to the Gulf, have the ship come to you ! hahaha Enjoy,Vince
