naw, he sits arround neked so the Anaconada can take a breath of fresh air ! hahaha Enjoy, Vince

Well Vince its 0200 out here. We have exited the Persian Gulf and entered the Indian Ocean. I went topside to have my cigar earlier but it was to hot and humid to sit and smoke. Maybe tomorrow night. I did particapte in anold navy tradition tonight Mid-Rats. Left overs Navy style. You should have been here.

Tom

Left overs my stinky Behind, we never had any leftovers when I was in the galley hahahah, we made soup, sandwiches, salads, eggs to order, burgers , pie, cake, ice cream, any time , 24/7 open pantry all the time , I dont know what kind of a Big Gray Ship your on , But I never served any leftovers, we always made something out of the leftovers, like when we had mashed potatoes, they would go in the batter for the dounuts , or the pancakes , any left over eggs became egg salad , any left over chicken , turkey or rabbit went into the soup pot with noodles, any left over beef or pork went into the meat loaf, & any left over meat loaf went into the stew pot, any left over stew became Pot pie , & so on & so on , never serverd the same thing 2 times in a row unless it was fresh made !
I just came home from my Viet Nam Vets Association meeting, I picked up a nice new flask with a Navy Logo at the ships store , only holds 4 ounces but I have a pint one all ready, so if 20 ounces of single malt dont get me where I want to be , I guess the next time the other guys will need to bring there own hahaha ! Enjoy, Vince

:cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh:

So the Navy served rabbit too, huh? Oh right, that was back in the days of John Paul Jones. Rabbits were plentiful in The Colonies.

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :neer: :neer:

Hey folks, Vince knows I love him, otherwise I wouldn't dare say that stuff. Heck, he's lost almost a running back, and he's still 40 or so pounds heavier than me.

:sm_angel:

Yep we serverd rabbit, fried it right along with the chicken, they never know what to expect , I did make a few old time Greman rabbit dishes but they didnt get served to the crew, just for me & a few other cooks, we had Fresh tuna a few times also, what do you think I was doing on my time off, just sitting & watching movies, NO I was fishing when ever I could, or scooping up fresh squid, MacHales Navy had nothing on me ! hahaha Enjoy, Vince

Man Vince, we could sure use you on this crew. The food is OK but very little imagination.
The weather has cooled down now that we are out of the Persian Gulf and into the Indian Ocean. I did manage to get outside about 0500 (after working all night) and have a Sunrise Cigar. A RyJ Dom. Maduro. I am trying to save the Cubans I bought for later. The cigar was great , the sunrise was beautiful. Nothing but sky, clouds, and the sea. I guess you have to be here to appriciate the view. I might be able to pick up some more in Amsterdam on the way home. Right now it is, waste not, want not.
We had some problems with the internet/email connection yesterday. Every thing seems to be OK this Morning. By for now.

Tom

Tom, I was just an E4 when I was in charge of my watch in the galley, I had been the souce chef at Montour Hights Country Club , before I enlisted in the Navy, so I became a cook in the Navy, strange how things worked out hahahaha ! , well we did have a menu to fallow , but no one ever said thats all we were allowed to make, I made what ever I could to change things up, , I even put chocolate on the menu , litteraly dipped the menu of the day in malted chocolate , it was printed on rice paper & was eatable , didnt taste all that great but it was some thing fun & different
Right now I am putting the polish on a speach for this afternoon , a Rally for the troops sponcered by the Viet nam Vets chapter 862 Beaver County Pa, of which I am a Life member & the coffee is ready & Click & Clack the Tappet brothers are on the radio with Car talk so I got to go , Enjoy, Vince

I try to listen to car talk every Saturday morning , my wife even likes it, I do try to get radio time for Prairie Home Companion, on Saturday evenings & at 11 PM Music from the Hearts of Space , on Sundays it is the Splendid Table with Lynn Rosetto Casper , a cooking show on the radio, well more about food than cooking , it is a show for people who like to eat ! well thats me !!! & at 9 I listen To Echoes, a great music program that plays a lot of new & different stuff, all the shows are on NPR , I listen to 89.3 WQED Saturdats ( you can listen on the web,) & on Sundays it WDUQ, 90.5 FM, both are on the web, great shows & a good time ! Enjoy, Vince

Uhhhhhhhh, Tom, you DID say AMSTERDAM??? I'll PM you with an order. It's gonna be a big one. And you might want to stash the order wayyyyyyyyy in the bottom of the ship.

I have a good Idea what it will be, & it will be smokable I am willing to Bet hahaha Enjoy, Vince

They sell things to smoke in Amsterdam? I was going to ask him to get me one of those giant cheese wheels. :cryinlaugh: What is that one cheese, about 50 pounds?

Cheese, :D You want Cheese! Well I must ask, what kind of cheese ?
I got the unofficial/official word that the port visit that was scheduled just got unofficially unscheduled. That was the port visit where old Tom was going to disembark, Get Off, Leave, Go Home, ETC. I have been Kidnaped :(

Bloofy, you got to help! Write your senator, your favorite senator, tell her BigTom has been Kidknapped by the US Navy and needs to go home and spoil his grandson, NOW.

you can smoke cheese, I love smoked guda & smoked provolone , hahahahaha
Tom is not kidnapped, it is called shanghied,
Enjoy, Vince

Well Vince, since I have been Shanghied I might as well make the best of it. My Sunday morning smoke will be a Monty #2, I am on the way to the Back Porch to smoke it (Flight Deck). Oh Vince, this afternoon we are having a Steel Beach picnik. Burgers, dogs, Steaks, Ribs, etc, etc, and cigars.

Tom

DAMMMMM i POSTED A LONG sUNDAY MORNING POST & THE DAMMM WED SIT TELLS ME , IT WAS AN INVALLED ENTRY, nOW i GOT TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN , dammmmmmmmmmm

Sunday Morning Post take 2
Sept 25 2005.
Invallied session My stinky @$$ , all that typing fornot , well I will do my best to recostruck my thoughts , as you can tell i just ramble & dont have any idea where I am going till I get there but I gusee you know that from reading this BS I put out all the time hahahaha ! well here goes nothing
Mike is getting stronger by the day but he has the mind of a 7 year old, we will do just fine when he gets out , afterall I have the mind of a 10 year old, but with s drivers licence & the ability to buy Booze & cigars , dammm we will be a dangerous pair !
Barb bought me some Cigars this week, I dont know what I did to deserve them but she is becomming quite the cigar shopper, a bundle of Rocky Patell Sungrown Torp Seconds ( I like seconds, they have the same taste , who cares if the wrapper has a little color flaw , the taste is where its at ) an OLD OLD box of Bahia trinadads , the old ones made in Costa Rica , Tony has been moved out of CR over 5 years , they are just wonderfull coronas , only had one so far, to good to waist on me alone, they need to be shared with some one over a snifter of single malt & a Mug of Kona & a box of 10 cigars from Tabbroil all packed in coffee beans , great little corona , not infused with coffee like an acid , but packed with the beans to pick up the aroma , not that it will replace my Don Carlos III for a morning smoke but it is a nice flavor change , after 35 years of marriage she knows what I like in cigars anyhow we are still a work in progress in other areas, it is slow but well worth the time I am putting into the instructions hahahaha !
I am sipping an expresso roast from Delallo , it was ground to fine to put in the freedom Press pot so I made it in the drip pot , I have the Sunday morning Kona on standby for the Don Carlos when I am done posting, & would have been sipping the nector if the dammmm web site didnt dump the first posting, man I should learn to type with more that 2 fingers hahaha
I did have a big rant about the storms & who is blaming who for everything but the rant has passsed & I dont want to piss my self off again trying to remember all the BS , it is & was an act of God, GWB had nothing to do with it , end of Revistied rant
I have a Pizza crust sitting in a bowl getting its 2nd rise , later I will punch it down & spin it nice & thin for supper tonight , I loved the think crust , but it takes up to much room in the stomach, so now I stick with the thin crust , a little sauce a little cheese & some sausage crumbled on top , now is when I miss the brick oven at the counrty club , man that thing did a wonderfull job of cooking almost anything ! Nothing like a wood fired brick oven to cook with , I know a lot of places in NYC that use coal but it is to much work we got the wood from all the old trees on the golf course , just labor to cut & stack, we had to buy the coal & that came out of my food budget, so WOOD it is ! hahaha
I hope I didnt miss anything, OH YEA I DID, Big Tom , I never was on a carrier & never had the Steel beach Picnic , but did set up the BBQ on the fantail of the USS Holisdayburg ( sub Chaser) , right next to the depth charge rack ! , just keep the lighter fluid away from the gun powder hahahaha !
Enjoy, Vince
