well me made an other week on this third rock from the sun, it is just after 11 AM here in the burgh the weather is FANTASTIC, not a cloud in the sky but some left over smoke from my Don Carlos III, the second pot of Kona is brewing as I type , every thing is right with me for a change ! no complaints this week, just a positive out look, Mike is now in a nursing home in the North Hills area of Da Burgh, a lot closer to me & now I have to Pass 2 different cigar shops to visit him, Dammmmm what a bummer hahahaha , we went out side on Friday for about an hour, he had a puff of my Padron 4000, the first cigar he had had in over 2 months, just a few puffs was all he needed , " BUZZED" great tobacco rush, hahaha, he is back on coffee 7 soon I will start to slip him a few sips of single malt, he is a vodka drinker, YUCK, I will never put that in my flask, might flavor the glass liner hahaha , I have a big pot of veggie & beef barley on the stove, not that we need soup this week , it will be in the 80's today & all week till Thursday, but I had to cook this stuff before it went bad, so i have soup for the entire area, , should be ready about 5PM, the beef bones are roasted for some added flavor along with the tomatoes & garlic. I cut up a chuck roast & browned it in a little olive oil, now all I need is a loaf of hard crusted bread, to bad I cant eat the bread, but maybe a few crutons , the weight is holding at 245, but my pants are getting looser, looks like I am just loosing inches now , more pounds to come off down the road, well i am headed to New castle Pa for a Sunday Afternoon smoke with some friends, I had a drink with a few people last night at the Trivia Pub, in Moon Twp, thanks to Raven & his wife, BTW his step daughter is HOT !! we will be getting together there again next saturday if any one else wants to show up, it is right across the road from Robert Morris Univ. if you need directions just PM me or Raven, hope to see a Bunch of you there Saturday Oct 8 @ 6 pm . time for more coffee ! Enjoy, Vince

Coffee this morning was Sulawesi-Kalosi, coffee with depth and complexity. It has a rich full body with a hint of nutty earthiness. Sulawesi is an island in the Indonesian archipelago. The best quality coffees from Sulawesi are grown and processed in Torajaland, near the upcountry town of Rantepao. The coffee trees are grown on small plots around the villagers' houses, and an entire family takes part in the picking and processing. Its aroma is full bodied with well-balanced acidity and a character with prominent herbal nuttiness; ending in a pleasantl sweet woody note on the back of the tongue. A tasty cup of coffee for a lovely Caribbean morning.

My smoke: Cohiba Siglo IV (the Vitola is Corona Gorda). IMO this is definitely one of the best robustos on the market, in terms of construction, consistency and taste. I have tried many robustos and the Cohiba is a winner. They are expertly constructed, burn smoothly, the smoke is nice and the taste is the classic Cohiba taste, which greets you from the first draw. Spice, cinnamon and from the second third you taste cedar, cocoa and honey.

We arrived back in the Virgin Islands without mishap. FuManChu, my golden retreiver was overjoyed to see everyone. He ran around in circles barking for at least the first 20 minutes after we pulled into the driveway. My daughters thought this was great fun and proceeded to chase after Fu while I unloaded suitcases ( I was only successfully tackled once). Appparently during this family scrum, Le Madame's carry-on bag had flown open, dumping some very skimpy thong panties and see-through teddies onto the lawn.

My first inclination that something was amiss (I was upstairs schlepping suitcases), was hearing Adrienne shouting first in French and finally Italian (when she is furious, she is quite profane and Italian has some wonderfully insulting language available to the speaker). Yvonne and Celeste (my daughters) had thought her underwear was very interesting and had tied one thong to the dawg's tail and somehow had pulled one of her teddys over FuManChu's head and he was wearing it like a shirt. Fu is no ordinary dummy and when he saw Le Madame heading straight for their merry group, he made a break for escape. Unfortunately, he headed for the front door -- directly in front of the door was the "Momma Duck" who had hatched her ducklings underneath my rocking chair, out back of my office. Momma Duck and her ducklings were out for a morning stroll, and seeing Fu charging straight for them, Momma Duck did an about face (ducks like to move in straight lines) and went right on in through the front door, followed by ducklings (in a straight line) Fu, both girls and my infuriated wife.

By the time all of this was straightened out, I found Fu in my office under the cigar cabinet. I had to drag him out. I untied the thong from his tail, a hot pink one (I have fond memories of that one) and got the teddy off (a filmy, sheer black one) my first conclusion (which I kept to myself) was that Fu needs lessons in mixing and matching his undergarments -- but then he is a blond! I handed the offending items to my wife who grabbed them, stomped off and continued her tirade at the girls. Fu and I quietly left by the door to my office and headed off to the harbor to see what needed fixing on the boat.

I am reminded of a quote by Rita Rudner regarding women's clothes: "Some women hold up dresses that are so ugly and they always say the same thing: 'This looks much better on. On what? On fire?"

I will be traveling (with Le Madame) next week to French Polynesia on biz and where there is no internet available. Until my next post, Bloofington, Vince, Big Tom and all who read this great string, I bid you adieu and have a great month.

cian

you sure do have an exciting life hahaha, if you ever want to sell Fu, make sure he cant talk hahahaha ! Enjoy Vince

If I didn't know better I'd say he was the star of a sitcom telling us about an upcoming episode.

Welcome back Cian. I hope your boat was OK. Whatever you do Don't give Fu to Vince. It would take Vince about a month to spoil that Dog away from regular food. I am aboard a Merchant Oiler this week. Life is good in the Merchant Marine.

Think Vince could teach Fu this one?

By the way guys, I really enjoy your tales ...

Dammmm I hate this , all my friends are dropping like flys in a Raid factory, maybe I need a little Prozac with my coffee & single malt , & to put iceing on the cake, NO KONA this morning , what is a Sunday morning Don Carlos III with out Kona? looks like I will suffer with the Columbian that I made last Friiday or the Santos I had yesterday, hey maybe mix the 2 ~ no I am getting dressed & going to the coffee shop for a pound of Kona, How could I run out?

Dbrad, that picture is priceless. You've gotta send that to the Food Network.

Vince, for some reason, I can't drink beer any more either. For the past three years my taste for beer has ground to a screeching halt. I also have no more desire for pizza, and pizza used to be almost a staple in my diet. :dunno: That's terrible about your friend Keith. I'm about to turn 49 myself, and well . . .

asthma problems. I've been without my maintenance medication for the past 11 weeks, and severe asthmatics don't live by emergency medication alone. As a matter of fact, you can't live on it at all, and I've got to spring for the money soon. I'm running out of my emergency medication and I need the Advair to bring me back under control. It's amazing, but I'm the best I've been since I became severe six years ago. I still need that all important Advair. It figures, the most expensive medication is the one I need to stay alive. :duh:

Last night didn't help any. I had a bad feeling about trying to get to work last night. I called Metro-North Railroad twice to ask them if the tracks were flooded on the Hudson Division, and they said they were running. Well, I went to New Hamburg to take the 11:09 into the city, and when I left the station at 11:42 they were still nowhere in sight. No updates on the "debris on the tracks" announcement either. Hey, if they can't even make it from Poughkeepsie to New Hamburg, why even TRY to make it to Grand Central, especially with NYC supposedly going to get blown up today? Talk about going from the frying pan into the fire.
:duh:

Hey, Vince would know a lot about frying pans and fires. :cryinlaugh: Anyway, I decided that since my friend at the taxi company had to do a couple more calls after dropping me off at the station, I'd give myself a head start. This guy was covering for a driver out sick, and wouldn't be back at the office to answer the phones until well after midnight. I walked in what was still a pelting rain, which had started nearly 24 hours before, two and a quarter miles up hill all the way, to the 7-11 on Route 9 to buy some ice cream and wait for the guy. I finally got home but I had gotten soaked through during the walk and was badly in need of my nebulizer, paying for walking through the chilling rain and standing outside the 7-11 for 45 minutes so the ice cream would keep cold while I waited for my friend.

I don't think I'll have a cigar today. Getting ready for some more chicken soup followed by bourbon, watching the most inept team in football. Yeah, I bleed green, sure. I've been buying more cigars than smoking, replenishing my supply and getting ready to send out some packages as the year winds down.

I've never seen such heavy rain last so long. I was afraid yesterday that my house was going to just come up, foundation and all, and float down the hill into the valley below. Thank God it's not raining yet, because we're supposed to get nine more days of rain consecutively. :eek:mg: Yeah, I'm scared, no foolin'. In a way, looking back, I have to thank God for the dry summer, because I didn't get my gutters clean, the guy who does it moved to Arizona, and the ground was able to soak up the ten inches, or whatever we got, but if it rains anymore, I'm in trouble. I think I have someone else to come clean my gutters, but not if it rains for nine more days in a row. :cryinlaugh: Damned if I do, damned if I don't. Yup, that's my life. :cryinlaugh:

I'm just hoping The Lord will dam up the rain until I can get these gutters cleaned. :rotflmao:

Well, the Progresso Soup is ready, a little bread for dipping, I just started the laundry and fed the Beefy Bacon. Bourbon will follow, maybe some ganja, who knows, a tiny cigar later? The couch is calling, and the Jets still look inept. See you guys later. Prayers for Keith's family in their time of grief, and Mike. The Lord's blessings upon you all from AmBack/Cigar.com. See ya later.

Good morning Vince, I never miss reading your Sunday morning saga, and read one or two to my wife (the real Cisco Kid). We arrived home to our little lake cabin late last night after going to the Cowboy game in Big D (How bout them Cowboys!) and after the 3 hour drive I was ready to get some sleep. At the exact moment I shut my eyes Cisco said the the first thing she wants to do Monday morning is read "about Vince's Sunday. Anyway, sorry about your friend Mike's setback. He is, thanks to you, in our thoughts, and, we are pulling for him. We also have arrived at the age where we are along with friends and family going from one medical misadventure to the other.
Blooth, that wet damp weather is after you! I hope that you are better as you read this.
My pot of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe (home roasted thanks to CastleCrest's influence) is ready so I wish you all a fine week. Regards, KAZ in Texas

Top of the morning to you!!! I've been kicked out of work early, so I'm off to the rest of my day. I hope to be returning home this evening, and settled in for the game tonight, at which time I should be back on line. Go for that coffee KAZ, you Hohme Rhoasting Kind Of Guy. You're one of my heroes. Maybe some day I'll do that thing, too.

Kaz, thank you for thinking about Mike, he needs all the prayers he can get right now, he & I have been friends about 30 years & it hurts to see him like he is , not only him , but his wife , they never had any kids & she is alone with out him there , but she has a 410 shot gun by the bed , she is a good shot & told me to knock twice before I use my key ! :!:
Bloofy , did you call your Doc to see if he has samples to give you? I dont know how the game is played in NY state but here in Pa , the Pharmacy reps are always in the Docs office with a bag of freebees , just call the office & ask if they have any samples , load up & stay healthy !!!!

I think you'll be watching the Steelers when you smoke that next cigar. This might be the year. How's Big Ben doing? That knee wasn't looking good when he went down the other night. He should have let them carry him off the field. I know you're supposed to go out like a tough guy, but that was a nasty injury.

Big Ben QUE? , right now Football is the last thing on my mind, dammmm, look at the poor cigar rollers who will be out of work for the next 3 months !!!!!!, & the coffee just isnt the same with out a fine cigar, & the Scotch, well with no cigar & no Coffee what will I match it up against? dammmm this is going to be an economic NIGHTMARE ! hahahaha Enjoy, Vince
