I have never called Sr Bloofington but I expect it would be a very, very long call.

No way , once he sees the caller ID he will not pick up on his end, all you get is the machine hahahahaha Enjoy, Vince

No, I don't look at it while it's coming in, I'm usually somewhere else in the house, or just lazing on the couch. I can get it later on when I scan the calls that have come in. I'd pick up if I really was around and had time to talk.

Well, it is that time again. I will not be joining you this morning with a smoke as I have a sick child at home right now, but hope to have one later this afternoon. As always i look forward to reading your posts though. Good Morning!

Hey Kids Guess what time it is ? ..................... It is Sunday morning & time for the Sunday morning posting ! 12 Feb. 06
25F according to the little number in my acuweather icon, we got a dusting of snow last night , just about enough to let the cat leave prints on the sidewalk, a quick pass with the broom it will be gone, we didn't get hit like the east coast did , it is times like this that I am glad I don't live near the ocean , this far north anyway, but as long as we have natural gas flowing through the pipeline & the electricity is on , I am a some what a happy camper.
Ever since the farmer next to me sold his world champion Angus McStudd I have noticed the animals in the field have changed breads , gone are the shinny black Angus beef & they have been replaced by the brown & white dairy cattle , not being a farmer I have no idea what bread they are, Heafords ? maybe ? I have no idea , all I known about beef is how to cook it , I let some one else shoot it clean it & cut it up I'm manageable pieces to work with . Dammm that sounds kind of cruel , but Beef is Food no matter how you look at it we raise them to milk them & then eat them , & I do have a roast to do today , ahhh yes back to making the Sunday Pot roast , , bacon fat to brown it in , onions, celery & carrots to line the bottom of the cast iron pan & keep the beef up off the iron, a splash of wine a little salt & pepper, a bit of garlic & in the slow oven for a few hours, then add the potatos , & let them cook in the pan juices , dammmmm I am getting hungry just thinking about it , since the by pass my wife & I havent been eating as much as we did before, right now I am down 202 pounds , hitting the scale at 215 my wife will not talk to me about numbers but her loss is great, I would guestamate over 100 pounds , not that she needed to drop anything in my eyes , the 48DD's were a lot of fun hahahahaha , they are still a lot of fun but just not 48DD anymore hahahaha yes I am a pig !
The new Job with Tabaceleria Tropical is going good, I have made a few new customers & talked with some old ones , still waiting on the first pay check from them .
My mother in law is starting to get a little worse with the altzhimers , I dont think she will be able to live on her own much longer, she isnt eating anything but milk & cookies & even when you call her on the phone & tell her , go to the kitchen & take you pills, when you get there the next day , they are still in the daily dose box, & she is on the phone with you when she tells you yes I am taking it right now, you hear the water run in the sink, & she gets back on the line yes I took them, well what she is taking is way beyond me , all her meds are in the pill box for every day, just take whats in the box , but when I go over to refill it , still full, so I guess she is taking M&M's , they are alway needing refilled . , I dont want her to go to a home , BUT she cant come here!! I just cant do that, a few days a week, I dont mind going there & helping out but 24/7 NO I dont think I can do that, I like the hose about 70F, she keeps her place 78F , at 72F I am looning to turn on the A/C, & at 78F she is saying she is cold. Thats all I would need if she got out of the house & wondered away , with the Electrict fence on one side of the property ( to keep me out of the pasture, not to keep the cowns in hahahaha ) , the highway at the end of the road we live on & all the traffic in & out of the place .
The Boss just got up & I need to go make breakfast, I did put a pot of Kona on , when I got up, it is almost gone, I have some peaberry from tanzania ready to go this after noon, a few guys are stopping by about 1 PM for a weee dram & a cigar , so if anyone is in the area be sure to stop in ! Enjoy, Vince

Great coffee line up Vince. Hopefully next month I will be sliding thru the Burgh!!

Spyder, sorry to hear you got a sick one at home, the only thing worse than a sick child is a sick wife, cause when she isnt right NO ONE is right !
CC welcome to the Sunday morning Zoo!
, I just came back in from cleaning the dusting of snow we got last night , 5 minutes with the broom & the walkway & entire drive way was clear, NOW BIG @$$ SNOW FLAKES are falling & in the time it took me to clean up last nights snow there is more snow on the ground NOW.
The roast is in the oven, the heat is on in the Qtr.Deck & I have the coffee ready to brew in the Freedom Press pot as soon as the crew shows up , there are plenty of seats so if your free & have nothing to do , the smoking lamp is lit, all hands report to the goofing off stations, That is all ! Enjoy , Vince

I like every peaberry I've tried - if roasted right!
I'm drinking a blend of left over beans.

some times that is the best tasting coffee I have ever made, a few of these a few of those, grind them all together & Bammmm a great pot of coffee never to be duplicated again, I mixed up a bunch of pipe tobacco, a few years ago, we got new jars at the shop so I was transfering all the old stuff to the new jars, well I cleaned up the counter with all the stuff that dropped out & man it was one of the best mixes I have ever come up with, I had enough for 2 bowls & that was it ! dammmm shame
Enjoy, Vince

Vince...I used to smoke pipe many years ago...have you ever tried Troost? I remember it being very enjoyable

My wife likes a dark roast & I like a light to medium roast -
I find lighter roasts to have more complex flavors.
I often will mix 2 roasts to keep us both happy!

No I have never heard of it , who makes it?
Enjoy, Vince

Well, not to be out done, we, here in Chesapeake also had a dusting of SNOW. Not much, but enough to say we had some.

CUP O JOE . maybe this summmer when I have nothing to do I might take a ride hahaha, Albany is about 12 hours at the speed I drive hahaha Enjoy , Vince

Hard to tell how much we had. Still a bit coming down. I'll be going out a little later to shovel out. We were supposed to get 10-16, 12-18, and it looks like it might be 10-12. Still not enough for me. About to start my second Freedom Press of the day. The first was Guatemala Coban, this is a blend of leftover Guatemala Coban and Tanzania Peaberry, about 16% of the Coban, and 84% of the peaberry. I couldn't resist buying a pound of the TB the other day. All this talk about it got me hankering to try it again, . . .

for the very first time. :sm_angel:

Vince, from the little bit I've gleaned from my dad, I think those cows hanging out in Angus McStud's old pasture might be Holsteins.

Observing cruise line ships at anchor in the harbor at Havensight unloading tourists can be compared to watching an ant colony, that has discovered a dropped bag of potatoes chips: throngs pour down gang planks, pushing past each other, hailing water cabs, street cars, open buses, disappearing into the winding brick alleys of brightly painted yellow, blue and pink buildings; only to emerge sometime later, hauling hats, t-shirts, bags of every size and description, half consumed sandwiches, drinks and the occasional sign that says “St. Thomas, VI – Cincinnati Ohio 4,000 miles”, back up the gangplanks and into the ship. As Dr. Seuss noted: ““Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!”

Coffee: A blended Peaberry Especial. These beans are fairly rare, occurring in about 5% of all coffee crops. In this case, only one of the beans inside the coffee cherry develops, rather than the normal two, leaving an ovoid bean - a Peaberry. These tiny beans, when selected from the rest of the crop, are prized concentrations of flavor. The Peaberry blend I am drinking, draws some of its characteristics from a smooth, almost wine like Colombian Peaberry with a fragrant Tanzanian brightened by a dark berries flavor, and a New Guinea roast. Very tasty and tartly sweet for sleepy mornings.

My cigar: Diplomaticos No. 5 (viotala is Perla). This cigar has interesting flavors throughout the smoking process, which IMO tastes like a cocktail of cigars, i.e., Montecristo, Cohiba and Romeo y Julieta. IMO, the stick lights and draws well; initially tasting sweet with a touch of spice. About half way through the flavors switch to a toasty wood, more spice, with added earth and a touch of caramel. The finish is sweet and long with a tart spiciness, noting some hints of orange and becomes much creamier.

FuManChu, my golden retriever and first mate always is excited about these comings and goings. His tail swishes back and forth as he barks greetings to any and all that stray by our mooring. I have come to understand through time that Fu’s philosophy on life is t everything can be played with, most things can be eaten (except for the pelicans who will steal anything) and that somber reflection is better off done only on alternating Wednesday afternoons, when there is nothing better to do. As George Carlin observed: “Life is an endless struggle full of frustrations and challenges, but eventually you find a hairstyle you like.”

P.S. Bloofington – What a great cigar review you wrote. I could almost taste the various flavors.
