What Did You Smoke Today

Tonigh I had a Cohiba XV (Extra Vigoroso) which was an excellent smoke.

Me and the wife are now heading out the door to a new Cigar & Martini Bar that just opened up in our area. Later!!

What is the name of the place, and location!?!?!

Its called Stix, and its in Southgate on Pennsylvania Road. Just opened up about 2 weeks ago.

Here's their website (which is still under construction):

Its a really great place. They have a top-of-the-line air filtration system, large leather sofas and chairs, reasonable drink prices, big screen tvs, and a VERY well stocked humidor. (Fuente, Ashton, Padron Anni., Rocky Patel, Montes, etc.)

I talked to one of the owner and she told me they plan on having a couple of cigar events this fall featuring Fuente and Ashton!

my fiancee is from dearborn so i asked if that place/town was nearby as im gonna be up there in a couple weeks for an eng. party...she said about "25 mins but downriver"...she wont tell me what that means though? :? i think she just doesnt want me ditching the party to go to the bar, lol

Let me know when either of you are planning to go. Maybe we can get together for a smoke.

I just finished a Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto with my mid morning coffee. This cigar has developed very nicely over the past year and a half. When I first picked these up they tended to get a little harsh near the final 1 1/2 inches, and they had kind of an acrid smell to them. I'm happy to say that both of those qualities are gone (at least in this one).

Now I have to get ready for work. I picked up a new knife roll the other day with an extra pocket big enough to fit my pocket humidor. This way my drive home smoke doesn't sit in my car all day roasting 8)

Sun finally came out here at N 42° 9.193' W 71° 33.963' a couple hours or so ago. Headed to the fishin' hole. I'm taking a Monte Afrique and a Gurkha Legend.

perdomo Imperio Maduro. Well constructed. solid.

This smelled wonderful as i pulled it out of the humi. I love the way the humidor smells when i open it.
Instantly i start to relax from a hard week at work.
I used my trusty puch cutter that i keep on my keychain. It was very difficult to cut. the pre light taste and draw were smooth and sweet.
Toast the foot and im off.
A few minutes in i notice a very earthy taste that has hints of a dark chocolate. Its not as sweet as i thought it would be from the prelight rituals. good none the less. The chocolate faded away. the earth continued through the stick. As strange as it sounds i got a hint of unseasoned shitake mushroom in there about 1/2 way through. Near the end i got peanutbutter toast and some spice.

i would never have thought to buy this cigar before but thats what PIF is all about. this now is one of my favorite short (about 1 hour) smokes.

Even though it didnt have the sweetness i look for it had a rich earthy taste that stuck around for the right amount of time and was not to overpowering.

Today was a slow but fun day at work. Got in at 12:30 and found out that they were short 2 people on dinner.
I started to get excited thinking we were gonna get hit hard in a few hours!
But we ended up doing around 40 covers, the largest party being a 6-top. There was also a banquet for 30 behind the bottling warehouse but I'm in the kitchen right now. To to top it off they were slow last night too so most of tonight's prep had been done.
I did get to kill 14 lobsters for the risotto which was fun. It was only three of us working tonight so it gave me time to BS with them and the front of the house.
I got a little dirty, didn't lose any fingers so I had a good night. Got to the parking lot and fired up a Partagas Short which was accompanied by classic rock on the ride home. I only wanted an "appetizer" for when I got home. About 20 minutes ago I fired up this lush looking Camacho Diploma that's been resting in its box since 5-05. So far soooo good. Glad I had plenty to eat at work though

Myaorga Maduro last night ( not sure on the size, lonsdale to churchill in size). Pretty dark and oily, a little tight on the draw but not so bad that I could not smoke it, but I had to give it a good cut off of the cap to get any kind of draw. Fairly rich but not as much flavour as I usually like, but since I have not had a cigar in almost two weeks it was nice to finally enjoy one with a wee dram of single malt. I needed it yesterday.
I was on my way to the second job after leaving the office job whne my thermostat went into the red. Well I have to drive it to the shop to get dropped off and that took me nearly 2 hours because I had to pull over every 2 minutes and let the engine cool down. So I had to bail on my job waiting table for the night so I was down the cash from that and I will likely have to spend the money that I was saving for my cruise on getting the car fixed. Ugh!

damn phisherman that sucks!

At least you still had a cigar! I smoked a Cusano Corojo 97 robusto today. it was yummy. The white ash that is produced on this cigar is so beautiful. I love Cusano stuff, and I have the great guy on this forum to thank for that!

I managed to smoke a small Habanos Punch that was gifted to me. It was good, but I found it rather one dimensional, it was probably too young.

There you go!

Sol Cubano Sumatra robusto

I just got these but i had to try one. It started rough with a bitter taste but, this could have been my lighting technique. Had a great even burn throughout. Half way through I got a wonderful vanilla taste. Then in the last 2 inches it heated up and went soft and mostly tastless. I'm going to let the rest spend some quality time in the humi.

A little busier at work tonight which was very nice. A couple of servers which I hadn't met before worked as well which had me grinning the whole night (we really need an emoticon where the smilie's tongue is dragging on the floor).
In case my charm wasn't enough, I hooked both of the lovely ladies up with incredible desserts.
After work I hung out with a few of the other cooks and we smoked PSD4's in the parking lot. There's nothing like smoking a great cigar with some new friends on a dark, crystal clear night with a cool breeze. Especially after spending the whole day in the heat of the kitchen.

amen to that.

120* in front of the broiler.

Had another Gurkha Centurian XX last night. For some reason, this one seemed spicier than the ones I had previously. It mellowed out as it reached halfway to more earthy smoothness, and woody notes. At some point, I could have sworn I tasted (nosed) fruity aromas.

I smoked a TTT Trinidad Robusto this evening with a glass of Drambuie and Scotch. This cigar has been sitting in my humidor for about a year. It had mellow cedar notes but didn't seem really flavorful; not a bad cigar, but not one I'd really like to try again.

I've been sitting on both a Cuban and a Dominican one for some time now. What did you smoke?
