What Did You Smoke Today

Ahhh I had a very nice Rocky Patel Sun Grown and Makers Mark on the rocks. They complimented each other well. I'm smoking my way through the RP's. So far obviously the Sun Grown, 1990, 1992, Edge, Edge lite .... Sumatra will be next I believe, any suggestion on a drinking pairing?

So far the Edge is my fave.

Yesterday I had a Coronado by La Flor Double Toro; that is one long smoke. Later in the day I had one of my regular rotation cigars: Romeo y Julieta Exhibicion #4. Man, I love that cigar...sweet, subtle flavors with a hint of coffee on the finish.

Today I had a meeting in New Haven and stopped into The Owl Shop, the last public place in CT that you can smoke and drink. Only had about 45 minutes, so I had a Short Story and Crown Royal on the rocks-killed a twenty- I guess you can charge what you want when you're the only game in town(or the state, in this case). I haven't been there in about 6 months and it looks like they dumped another $100000.00 into the place. Tonight I think a Cuvee 151 on walk with the dog.

Earlier, a Rocky Patel 1992 Mini Belicoso, and tonight, I'm going with an HdM Epi 2. Perhaps I'll crack open the Wild Turkey 101.

Had an Opus X Robusto with some Old Grand Dad 114. The cigar was about a year old and had mellowed out just enough. The OGD was great with it too.

Great January day here, 76°, no clouds, no storms forecast. I had a BBF earlier. Tonight, I'll have an Opus X beside the fire.

Last night I had my first RP Edge. It was a maduro. Supper oily and tons of leather in the taste, but I expected it to be a little stonger. Still a pretty good smoke though.

Been playing in the wood shop all afternoon.

Seventy nine years ago today, Wyatt Earp died.

The final chapter of Lonesome Dove comes on CBS in a few minutes. I think I'll settle in with a PSD4.

'but I expected it to be a little stonger'

The RP Edge is my current favorite, but today I smoked my first RP Edge 'Counterfeit' by Rocky Patel. It's very similar to the original but made in Nicaragua, and it is definitely stronger. After this episode, I decided to let the rest of them get some quality humidor time before I try another one. It really was a little too cold outside today to really enjoy anything, which is another reason I've put off judgement on this stick until I've smoked about half the box. Another RP that benefits from some humidor time is the R4. BTW, I don't smoke in the house, and I limit myself to one a day, max. Therefore in really crappy weather I might miss a few days unless I slip down to the local watering hole. Smoking mainly outdoors has other effects, too. One is you quickly gravitate to the stronger cigars that produce lots of smoke. Another is you might favor a shorter smoke in unpleasant weather. I like to keep some good Robustos around for when I don't want to stay out long.

been a couple of good days. Last night I had an San Cristobal de La Habana El Principe (habana) from '01. It smoked pretty well even though the wrapper had a large crack. Light to medium body with floral and herbal notes.

Today while workign from home I had an '07 Ramon Allones Small club corona (habana) courtesy of Craig from a bet we had for the Pats and jags game (I won). Another stick the smoked very good and was medium to full bodied with notes of cedar and toast.

Now I am enjoying a Reo torpedo. Just a good full flavored full bodied cigar with big coffee taste.

Well...I got called into work today about 9am, so of course I treated myself to some first timers and old standbys....

Had an Oliveras(sp?) which Im not sure what line it was, but it had a spice to it I couldn't place...nutmeg or something I knew, but just couldn't get it.

Maxx Culture...cant go wrong there, load torpedo tube 1

Rocky Patel Connecticut.

And then b4 I knew...the workday was over...

I smoked that Immenso, Rob, it was actually a good smoke....and she is soooo HAWT!

Heath,

I hoped you kept the band(just to drool over). I think she has a sister you might be interested in. I'll see if she wants to come out some time and see you sometime(haha)

Hey, I picked up ten 'Connecticut' toros as a freebie with an order. I go for full-bodied cigars and I could tell they were mild just by looking at them. Anyway, I tried one, and wow! They are mild, but very flavorful - I was surprised and pleased. The second one a few days later decided to split on me (the split started in the humidor - I haven't seen that before) and wasn't as good as the first. Looking the other eight of them over, I didn't find any more splits. Checking the price on them online, I was again surprised - I thought it was a little high. This cigar is rolled soft, and I hate that. The wrapper looks good but is thin and fragile. This is not a Macanudo, rather a decent but faulted cigar if you could get them for $3.25 or less.
