What Did You Smoke Today

I had my first Nub last night. It was the Havana series. What a waist of money and time. Good thing it only last 45 min!

The only grip i have with the nub is that it gets real hot and spongy in the last half. And they don't last as long as Sam claims. Otherwise the Cameroon Nub is really good.

Had an H. Uppmann Napa Estate tubo tonight. Nice mild, smooth smoke. Pretty tight draw, though, and hard to keep lit. I'll take the rest of 'em out of the tubes and let 'em age a few months in my coolidor. Ought to help 'em immensely.

Last night I smoked a La Flor Dominicana Ligero L-300. I was really suprised at how full this cigar was. Duh, ligero should have warned me. Probably the strongest cigar that I have smoked. Strong black coffee flavor predominated. It lasted me an hour and a half. Very, very enjoyable. I have several of the L-300's left and am really looking forward to them. I also have a Double Ligero that I can't wait to smoke!

I just finished a La Aroma de Cuba Corona. This cigar started very peppery in the first half then developed into a wood or earthiness flavor. A kind of mild cigar compared to last nights smoke. It took me right at an hour to smoke. Burn was perfect with no touchups required. I have a couple more of these and will probably smoke them as a daytime smoke.

I finished the last of my remodeling chores on my patio before noon today so I rewarded myself with a smoke. It hadn't reached 80 degrees yet (of a projected 96) and it was really pleasant on the patio.

I smoked the last of my Astral Phoenix's and was pleased. For an inexpensive cigar it's mild and smooth with an easy draw and an even burn (with the exception of one small relight to touch up a slightly uneven spot). It had a hint of cocoa with woody undertones and developed a slight peppery taste in the final couple inches. A good choice for a smoke early in the day.

Another plus - it lasted about an hour and 20 minutes. The Phoenix is about the same ring guage as a churchill bit is about an inch or so longer.

Last night I smoked a CAO Black long corona.

Though I am a CAO fan, I wasn't particularly impressed with the Black. I think I'll stick to the America, MX2, and CX2.

Smoked a JLP Cremosa and a PLP last night. Both were very good and nice and light on my back pocket. Oh, I smoked them while hanging out on Skype with the OG Mooks. Good stuff.

Well, I don't know whether tobacco beetles enhance the flavor of a good cigar but the Partagas No. 10 double corona I had tonight was pretty darn good, beetles and all.

And I brewed up a pot of Kenya AA to go along with it out on the patio.

As we Italians like to say, "Molto Bene"

Tonight I smoked a panatela I bought at the Conch Republic Cigar Factory in Key West , Florida when I was there in June. It's a true 'boutique' cigar since most folks never heard of the tiny little factory.

It was excellent. Easy draw, lots of smoke, even burn. And the taste was wonderful...a toasty nutmeg flavor with just a hint of chocolate. I was tempted to wait 'til the ashes fell behind my teeth before putting it down.

Norma, who I think is their head torcedor, would roll your cigars while you watched if you chose to do so. Their prices are a little high but well worth the extra buck or two.

Very, very nice, and a pot of Kenya AA complemented it very well.

Molto bene.

It's been awhile since I smoked because I was not feeling well. I missed my 30th b-day smoke so I celebrated late with a Don Carlos Edicion de Anniversario robusto. This was a very nice stick, I had it with some coffee and hung out with some of my neighbors. I need to review one of the other two I have left to try and pick out all of the flavors. It reminded me of a regular Don Carlos I had but with a little something extra. If you can afford it, I got mine from the evil site because I am cheap, I recommend trying one.

And which evil site might that be? If it's unmentionable on the forum, you can pm me.

I'm kinda cheap, myself.

Well, I don't know about any evilness but I buy from them fairly regularly - - - tightwad that I am.

Boy, I can sure relate to that. And it doesn't help that I'm a kinda 'auction junkie'. I keep looking at auctions on Famous Smokes and JR Cigars but Cigarbid is a lot smoother operation.

I love eBay, too, but obviously not for cigars.
