What Did You Smoke Today

Smoked my La Gloria Cubana Serie R today... it was so excellent all around its hard to find points to emphasize ;) Nice, easy draw, fantastic construction, mine burned pretty unevenly, but then again i botched the light somthing awful, so it was probably my fault. I tend toward the more mild cigars, so the Serie R was a bit heavier then i prefer, but so smooth it didnt bother me at all. Quite the opposite, it made me think its about time i get some fuller bodied cigars ;)

Three smokes yesterday. First was a Choix Supreme, which was great until the last third at which point the draw became too tight.
Next up was a Work of Art maduro, which had an ash that would not fall.
Last but certainly not least...El Cobre (double corona?). It took me just under two hours to smoke this beast to the nub. To say this one was full-bodied would be an understatement, but it was also balanced nicely with some great flavors and a perfect draw. I'll be all over these when they come out, but I'd probably go with the robusto size. I can already see these sitting in my cabinet, right next to the Diplomas :D

So far today...Short Story and coffee, black.

cusano 18.. Very Very easy draw. Smooth as silk. I enjoyed it more this time around. But still I like the C10 more.

Aside from my morning standard of a Short Story, I had a Romeo Y Julieta Belicosos this afternoon which had an uneven burn but never needed a relight.
Now I'm about 2 inches away from putting down a 100 Años corona which has been nothing short of perfect. As a HUGE fan of corojo wrapper, I'm looking forward to trying the new 1495 series.

I don't know what my problem has been lately. The last 3-4 cigars have all tasted the same. It's driving me crazy.

Yesterday I had a C10 corona and another I cannot for the life of me think of right now. Today I had about an inch and a half of a Camancho 11/18. It was my first and definitely won't be my last but the damn wrapper split on me and unraveled before I got to enjoy it too much. Its always happens on me with my diplomas and Fuentes. I've really gotta get a higher humidity desktop going for sticks like those.

Diploma... WOW! this knocked me back a little bit. I liked the spice from it. But I think it's more for the advanced smoker. I will buy more in the future. Just not the near future.

I haven't had a Diploma in a couple of weeks, you just gave me an idea of what to include in tomorrow's smokes Jeffrow.

I had 3 sticks today:

Short Story this morning.
La Gloria Cubana Tainos this afternoon, which had one of the tightest draws I've ever encountered with a Cuban. Thankfully it opened up after 1/2 way.
Rocky Patel Edge Toro maduro this evening courtesy of Eclipse...thanks bro!

Romeo Y Julieta Reserva Real.... I enjoyed this alot. Had a nut taste to it. Very smooth and easy draw. One of my favorites.

Yesterday morning after I got off work, I smoked a short story with a cup of Kona. I went to a BBQ (this time not at my house, thank God!!) and started off with a CAO L Anniversaire Cameroon. I have had these sticks in the humidor for over a year, and they still suck (IMO). It wouldn't stay lit, and tunneled to China. I must say when it was lit, it did have a good draw and produce alot of smoke. We had Hors d ovaries (lol) and then I lit up a Monte White No. 2 Belicoso, w/ Macallan 12. This was delicious!! After the ribs and chicken came the Padron 1926 Anniversary No. 6. This was the first Padron 1926 I have smoked. It will now be one of my all-time favorites. I can honestly say it tasted like graham crackers on the palate. A very smooth draw, and perfect construction.
I can't wait to smoke the next one!! Thanks Wolf!!!

I'm glad you liked those sticks, Cap :)

I hope you enjoy the others as well.

I'm at my sister's house near Orlando. On the drive up I had a Punch Rare Corojo Pita...I love those. Later in the evening, a bunch of us sat outside just chillin' and talking. I had a Cuaba....not sure which stick, but it's a smaller one. I didn't like it very much...it had a green/metallic taste to it. After that I lit up a Cohiba Red Dot tubo given to me by Ryan. I liked it, but it's not a favorite of mine. On the drive home today I think I'll fire up either a Choix Supreme or a Sol Cubano Maduro.

Beautiful day today.... sat on the the deck and had a Sol Cubano Corojo Reserve Robusto. Started out slow, but kicked in at the 1/4 mark. Good cigar for the price. Bought a handful of these awhile back, during a one day sale here at cigar.com....glad I did!!!

Just smoked an awesome Diploma. These just get better and better with age!! :D

In the past couple of days i had a Partagas Black Label, which was great. Medium to full bodied but nice and smooth with leather and spice flavors.

Tried a Gurkha Ancient Warrior, which was also fantastic.

Also had a CAO Italia, which is rapidly becoming one of my favorite smokes, up there with Ashton. Still haven't had a CAO i didnt like, and i've tried most of their line.

9/3
Short Story
Diploma
Diplomaticos No. 2

9/4
Short Story
Montecristo #4
Opus X Robusto

9/5
Short Story
Hoyo Petit Robusto

They all burned great except for the Opus, which did not want to stay lit for the first 1/4 inch...but then :D

9/2- A C10 robusto and a Fuente Exquisitos maduro if If I remember correctly.

9/3- A C10 corona and a CAO gold. Wasn't all that impressed with the gold. Seemed to be lacking a distinct flavor. Too mild and bland for me.

9/4- A C10 corona and a Diploma natural. Its great whenever I get to return to my old friend the Diploma...

9/5- EL COBRE I love these things! I would post a full review but I was busy moving a piano so I had a hard enough time smoking it (the whole barely being able to breath thing kind of got in the way) let alone picking out the different complexities. I have one more so when I smoke that I'll post my interpretation.

2 smokes today. A Partagas Short which was great and an Excalibur mini on the way to the train station after visiting my brother in Berkeley. I've had a tin of these in the bottom of my humidor forever and forgot about them until this morning. A quick but flavorful 5 minute smoke.
I noticed something funny today after getting back into SF...right by the train station is the United Nations Plaza which has museums, various schools, and a square where a farmer's market is held every day. At the front of the square is a huge statue of Simon BOLIVAR mounted on a horse...I know where I'll be smoking my next BBF

quagmire,

Your list of smokes and opinions is starting to look like my cigar dossier. The Diploma and El Cobre are two of my favorites also!!!

Had a Punch Rare Corojo from the PIF yesterday while watching my son's 8th grade football team practice. Nice sunny afternoon, little humidity, about 83 degrees, and a nice breeze. Unusual for AL this time of year. The cigar was very nice as well.

last night i had a flor de oliva gold i think, i havent had a cigar from them i dont like!
