What Did You Smoke Today

Hmm... when I smoke too fast the wrapper burns fastest. If I set it down though then the heat distributes and everything evens out.

Syntax, no offense, but really one of your problems is that you're not resting your sticks first. Granted its not easy to do without some of the stashes some of us have, but I think that once you get more sticks together and start resting them more, you'll really start noticing your problems disappearing.

Yesterday I had a Royal Jamaican Oro Rojo. Had a real nice earthy cocoa flavor. That was after the very bitter first half inch or so but I think these could be some really good smokes with a little age.

Today I started out with a Monte torpedo. I'm not really sure what it was though as it wasn't the 6 inches of a #2. Wasn't really my thing. Has kind of an ashy flavor. I finished off the night with a Flor de Oliva 10th Anniversary Churchill. Was one of the best cigars I've had yet. Definitely top 5. Flawless construction, even burn and a real mellow woody flavor. Definitly gonna pick up a box of these. I'd pay three times the price for these.

Had the best Cusano C10 so far. It's a cool, crisp 30 degrees out and I was shoveling my sidewalk and steps and hanging Christmas lights. Then the mailman delivers this month's Dillon catalog so I had to sit out on the porch with a hot cup of Zimbabwee AA coffee and read the catalog (or just stare at the fine women with guns!)

I really like this kind of weather where it's just barely warm enough to sit outside. Very enjoyable afternoon so far.

I took inventory of my sticks about a week ago. I have 800+ sticks, and I still constantly go to the shop to buy singles to smoke. It's like my wife with her 4 closets. She always says, "I have nothing to wear". Now I know what she means. lol

I smoked a few sticks this week while watching Big do his magic in the bush..... Get you minds out of the gutter, I am talking about hunting with my lab.... Preferidos Platinum, C10 corona, Cuban label and of course, Cameroon label. Macallan, you missed a good week!

Sorry I missed the hunt. We will need to have a ranch hunt before the spring. That is a funny analogy with your wife, clouths, and cigars. It really does make perfect sense. I am always buying more cigars and feel like I have nothing to smoke.

La Gloria Cubana something or another. Horrible smoke. Was plugged all the way through, and 5 failed attempts to fix it...

Was it a Serie R? If it was, those are one of the best smokes I have had. They are however, very temperamental. You NEED to rest these cigars, and keep them at a lower humidity. Since they don't come in a cellophane sleeve, they tend to get beat up during shipment. Don't be so fast to say something sucks because of one bad or plugged cigar. If that was the case, there are alot of cigars (including the Diploma) that I would have to say sucked! Give it another try, but rest it for a while.

I am sure Axe is gonna need more of these before the holidays!!

LOL, those maduro Serie R's are awesome. If I had the room (and it amazes me that I don't), I would pick up a box or two.

12/10

Fonseca Delicas: Not all that bad. I read alot of reviews saying this was a bad smoke and that it had no complexity. "They" were right about the complexity, but what it did have was straight tobacco flavor in a stick that lasted about 45 minutes. For the price, it'll probably be the one I go to when I need to run an errand and wouldn't mind having to pitch it before its time.

Oliva Master Blends I robusto: Prelight aroma was rich with tobacco and dark chocolate. Burn was a little uneven, but the draw was perfect. Tons of smoke which produced a peppery flavor that I enjoyed very much. I smoked this one to just past the laser etching then went to sleep since I was exhausted.

No, it wasnt the Serie R. Came in a cellophane wrapper. I got it in a package from jhiggs.
Im not saying that they are all horrible, Im saying that that certain cigar was horrible. I wanna try again, as I did enjoy the taste that I got from the 1/2in or so that I was able to smoke.

LOVE those Series R - USMC introduced them to me. Axe - how do the Maduro's compare to the regular ones?

Both are excellent, and blow away the regular line ever since LGC changed factories several years back. With the maduro you get that familiar "sweetness" that makes a maduro stand out. Burn can be a little uneven (which I think has to do with the thickness of the wrapper), but Capt said it, with TLC these babies are amazing.

With the exception of the Padron 26 (of which I prefer the Nat over the maddie), I'm a fan of the maduro lines of many cigars. If you ever get the chance to smoke an Opus X maduro, you'll understand what I mean...but then again, we smoked Anejo #50's so you may already know :D

Smoked a CAO eXtreme Belicoso and a Cusano Hermanos Vintage Robsuto. Both were very good.

Cusano 18 Double Connecticut Robusto
Very good smoke! Even burn all the way to the nub (burned my fingers as I wanted to get as much from it as possible). Consistent smooth and creamy flavor. Was a lot milder than I had expected, or maybe it was my tri-tip BBQ roast that made the smoke mellow. One of the best smokes I've ever had.

Today I smoked a Punch Rare Corojo Magnum..nice ash and easy draw.

Yesterday I smoked a Padron 2000. I love Padron's but I have a tendency to smoke them too fast resulting in a slight case of nausea. You would think I learned my lessong on my first Padron 5000,,,got really sick off smoking that one too fast.

a Monte Robusto EL, a PSD3 EL, and a Upmann Mag50 EL. gotta love haning out with a buddy. pulling out the good stuff.

Was pretty busy today so only a Fuente Exquisitos Maduro.

I'm drooling here thinking about those Master Blends. My shop doens't have them because the owner says they're too pushy with their sales. Says for every two boxes they want you to buy four.

Never had an R but came close. Wrapper fell apart. It would be nice if they were at least wrapped like the El Rey Del Mundos.

Those Sopranos are good. I've got a boss in the humi and a box of associates with my name on it down at the shop. Unfortunately that's gotta wait til after Christmas when I get my new frigidor.

Sorry to hear that about the Masterblends, quag...if I come across another one next time I'm down at the shop, I'll be sure to snag ya one!

I'm also thinkin about pickin up a box of the CAO Sopranos....just don't know which size to get!! :?

LOL...and to think back in June you were talking about your "old" frigidor
