What Did You Smoke Today

today i smoked my first cusano 18 robusto, i see now why everyone sais its awesome

I STILL have not tried one of those! I had one planned out for today, but being third on the list, I did not get to it...tomorrow, I guess

Since Macallan has that (or had?) that box of Ashton VSGs he's trying to unload, I figured I might as well try one. I managed to find a Tres Mystique (4 3/8 x 44) locally, so I picked it up.

One man's special occasion smoke is definately another man's dog rocket. Either that or something very bad happened to this stick before it found it's way into my posession. It wasn't dry when I got it. No cracking, wasn't crunchy, etc. Plus unlike my c.com and the other local shop I've never had a problem smoking a cigar from Binny's right after buying it.

It was well constructed, burned nicely, and didn't seem harsh at all. The problem was it just tasted like, well, ash.
It kind of reminded me of an Oliva "O" Maduro minus the maduro. That one had notes of charcoal/ash/burnt wood/etc., but it was clearly an undertone on a very solid maduro taste.

C.com's description says it was supposed to be unlike anything else out there, so I have no idea if I got a bad one or that's how it's supposed to be and I just really don't like it.

On the upside, at least it wasn't a painful smoke.

Sorry to hear about the bad experience Zandor. Speaking from personal experience, and to echo what many on this board have said, the VSG has lost something over the past few years. It's not a bad smoke by any means, just not as spectacular as it used to be.

And Bloof, after dealing with the dinner crowd last night and the morning crowd today at the country club where I've been putting in some hours...I needed a few great smokes!!

I'm not even sure it was bad now that I think about it a bit. I just didn't like it. I'd like to think it was mishandled at some point. Maybe dried out, then got rehumidified in the store's humidor. Or maybe not.

Just to make sure I wasn't just feeling "off" tonight and really didn't like it I smoked a Flor de Oliva Maduro. Same as always. Tasted just how I expected. I love those sticks. There are lots of things I like better, but nothing I can pick up for $1.75/stick.

Speaking of Olivas, the description on the VSG says the wrapper is grown by the Oliva family. Makes me wonder if the Olivas have been holding back the best leaf for themselves.

it was the first one i had, i left for school and smoked it on the way, was very pleasurable, smooth, an overall good smoke, and only $4 at my local shop, so you can assure im buying more

last night i had a punch rare corojo, didnt see what the big deal was.

Try the Gran Puro's. They really have a great taste.

I had a La Flor Dominican Factory Press. My favorite go-to cigar when I want a great smoking experience.

Just had a Vegas Robaina Famoso with a cup of Fair Trade New Guinea coffe (thank you Brenda!!!).

The draw was a little tight (my fault, I just got it in a week and a half ago and should have let it sit) but it was a great smoke. Very creamy and tasty - smoked it down to the nub.

OK, I finally smoked a Cusano 18, double connecticut. Due to my early experiences in smoking...ie, a couple of weeks ago, I was under the impression that a light (connectitcut) wrapper inferred a mild (very little flavor) cigar. Now I see that I was wrong! This cigar was wonderful, as so many of you have said. I did not know that you could have a mild to medium cigar and still have lots of great flavor... going to have to look into a box of these. Does the Paired Maduro C 18 taste as good? I DO love those maduro wrappers

Just finished up with a c.com Cuban Label, robusto. WOW, there are just so many cigars that I like! This cigar's wrapper tasted sweet on the lips, and every draw was full of spicy flavor.. and LOTS of thick white smoke. I settled down with this cigar, a hot cup of raspberry herbal tea and an Ann Rice book... great combo IMHO. The sweet taste of the tea was prolonged by the the sweet wrapper, and was a nice contrast to the spiciness (book is optional  ) this experience was only lessened by the fact that I was sitting out in my truck! :p

Smoked a few cigars today -
Started with a PLPC then to an 01 H.U #2 at the start of the Steelers game into a Custom rolled cigar a friend brought back from Cuba last year. Now just finishing up a Montecristo Edmundo - which I think was the best cigar of the day!
Not sure of the date? Came from a PIF :D

Great day of smoking & one sided football!

Since it was my B-Day weekend, I smoked alot of cigars. I hope I remember them all:

Friday:
Opus Double Corona....AWESOME smoke!!
La Aurora Sapphire
Montecristo #2 Cuban, of course
Bolivar PC, Cuban

Saturday:
Short Story
VSG, good, but not like the early years
Saint Luis Ray, Cuban....AXE!!! Thanks!!
Cohiba Siglo II

Sunday:
Cigar.com Cameroon Label
La Aurora Platinum
Short Story
Fuente Anejo 49

I think I am going to take the rest of the week off of smoking....NOT!!!! I am going on a pheasant hunt the 27th, so I am sure I will be smoking some more good cigars.

Just so you know Spider, connetticut wrappers impart less body or strength and more smoothness into the smoke, not less flavor. IMHO, some of the most smooth and flavorful cigars have connetticut wrappers.

J/K, Nice lineup brutha

I went out last night and smoked one of those cigar.com red labels (thanks for the cigar, Doc-T.) It was very tasty and look forward to getting more of these.

Now, I'm smoking a cigar.com cuban label. Sooo good for the money.

Okay, why didn't anyone warn me that I must ash these cigar.com cuban labels? I'm wearing all black and I just got ash all over my shirt and pants.
