What Did You Smoke Today

I have been fortunate enough to receive a few Monte #4s as gifts from different people... I noticed a color difference between the wrappers. Is this a normal thing between boxes, or could age have this effect? I understand that the leaves are from plants and vary a little, but was just curious, since I am very new to this aspect of cigars and most of my purchases have all been from the same box. The color difference was not drastic, but noticeable.

that's normal...they usually try to get all the same colors in one box, but the colors will vary from box to box. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Thanks for the quick response, Wlofdaddy. I wasn't really worried, as they all came from reliable folks, I was just curious. As I said, this is really my first experience having sticks from multiple boxes.

Yesterday, I had an Ashton 8-5-8 (Lonsdale), I love this smoke, and got almost 2 hrs. out of it. Enjoyed it with some Orange Tea during a rather boring work related conference call.

In the evening I had an Ashton VSG Tres Mystique Petit Corona) while sipping "Grand French Connections" (Grand Marnier mixed with Cognac).

I guess for me it was an Ashton day...

Went to the coffee shop last night. I smoked a Camacho coyolar perfecto No. 1 and sipped a Cubano espresso beverage. What an awesome combo!

just went on a long walk with the dog and fiancee..

had a LFD double lig chisel and...i think im in love, one of my recent favorites and one of the first i was actually able to describe some distinct tastes..

1st third started out fairly mild, sweet with a cinnamonish taste, the stick exhibited a fair amount of tobaccoish taste throughout its duration as well...

middle third it really started picking up steam and i could tell what i was gonna be in for by the end, the middle still had a tobaccoish taste but i also picked up a good bit of steak taste as well

last third to the nub and oh boy this thing got thick, full bodied, heavy smoke, left a bit of metallicy taste, woodsy and tobaccoey, quite a bit of burn on the palate which progressed as it got closer to the nub, but i like that and it was to be expected...

anyhow i loved it, it wasnt a backhand to the face that made you wanna ask how you'd get through it, like some of the reviews might lead you to believe, but for those who like strong and interesting tasting cigars, its definately a hit...i think ill pick up a box when i have room in the humi and when my stogey fund rebounds

I've noticed with some Cuban cigars that they place them in the box from light to dark according to wrapper shade. So I could pick 3 random cigars from the box and wind up with three cigars of varying shade.

Today I met up with Calibus after what seemed like forever since the last time, and we ended up going hiking through Muir Woods north of SF.

I had a Hemingway Work of Art maduro on the drive there.
Next up was a Partagas Short which started off with a tight draw but loosened up quite nicely.
That was followed by a La Aurora Preferido Cameroon Robusto which was amazing.
Next, as if the Aurora and the spectacular view was not enough, I had an Opus X Perfecxion X to send me into complete bliss.
After a nice Italian meal at a mom and pop joint in the Russian Hill district of SF I had a Camacho Coyolar perfecto...which was perfect :)

Sent my usual Saturday at the smoke shop. Had

1. Romeo y Julieta Churchill ISOM. This was the first one of these i pulled from a box and the first one I have had in maybe 3 years. Nice cigar. Not as good as the Upmann No. 2 or Siglo V, but a damn good smoke.

2. Tatuaje Neuvitas- Good cigar. I prefer the Miami 10 fold to the Neuvitas but an okay cigar.

3. Casa Fuente Corona Gorda- Not sure what all the hype is on this cigar. Ugly Sumatra looking wrapper. Taste was completely unevenful.

4. Cusano Corojo 97- I had to admit it has been 6 months since smoking one of these but my god it is such a great cigar. I love all of Cusanos premium stuff.[/b]
