What is your favorite Hobby?

What kind of grinders do you guys have? I want to start grinding my own but don't know much about the machines. I do remember that there's 2 different kinda, a blade and a mill?

Then the roaster of course. How much do they run?
I started with a Krupps blade grinder( i use that for grinding spices for BBQ rubs now), which is ok to start, then I moved on to a Capresso burr grinder. It has about 10 settings which is great for any type of machine you might be using. Finer grind for Espresso, coarser grind for drip or French Press. It was somewhere in the range of 60-80 $$

My hobbies... Hmm... work! Nah, I have hobbies...

Right now, my biggest hobby is helping plan my wedding. Usually, it involves, "yes dear... " " looks good dear"... etc etc...

I like the outdoors... I love hiking, nothing too intense though. I love to fish... birdwatch... all kinds of nature things. ... camp. I actually have a BS in biology.... but I cook for a living right now.

Cooking is another passion of mine. Wine, cocktails, food... things I enjoy... Maker's Mark is a good hobby, too! *grin*

I like to read, when I have time, now. I normally like non-fiction stuff. Yeah, I'm a dork. But I also really enjoy Tolkien, CS Lewis, Terry Brooks. I like science books, about biology, etc, cooking books.. not just recipe stuff.. but cooking stuff, like Alton Brown books, wine books, jazz books. Right now, I'm working on a book from the library called "Goin' to Kansas City" .. a history of KC jazz.

I LOVE music... all kinds, all styles. Used to be mainly into Christian rock... not contemporary, necessarily.. but ROCK. The harder stuff. I have everything ranging from opera, classical, some country, some rap, rock, classic rock, jazz, blues, etc etc. My most recent musical passions have been jazz, blues, and old standard crooners. I think my faves in these genres are: Charlie Parker!, Thelonious Monk, dixieland jazz, Sinatra, Louis Prima, Dean Martin, Muddy Waters...

I like some sports... NASCAR (no, I'm not a redneck hick), NFL football *Raidazzzzz*, some college hoops, and college football. I like to root on my alma mater... Central Missouri State. Usually do great in baseball, been terrific in bball lately, and pretty darn good in football. yeah, yeah yeah.. it's a D-II school. I used to love frisbee and hackysack, too... Been disc golfing a couple times over the past year...

Collections... mainly, I collect frogs. Used to be something I kinda actively did, but now, it's taken on the role that everyone else will grab something unusual for me when they see it. Not live frogs, mind you...

Well, that's probably more than ANYONE ever ever wanted to know about me.. *hehe* So, I'll hush up, now...

Great choices.

 Right now the only true hobby I have right now is NRA highpower shooting.
I have a Springfield M1A, and finishing up a LRB M14SA.

Hey Frank, congrats on your upcomming wedding! Those phrases, "yes, dear... looks good dear..." sounds so familiar! I was lucky that my wife found her dress in 1 day, and came out of alterations in 1 week!

YES DEAR ~~~~ just what the doctor ordered, I have been married 35 years now, & the only thing I ever get to say is
"YES DEAR ", it works, we never fight, I stay out of her way & she lets me have my cigars & scotch, she is a coffee drinker so that is always her idea, never mine , she encourages me to cook, & she will shovel the snow, I dont do it the way she wants it done, I make the piles to high & in the wrong place , so she will do it ! YES DEAR , it works for me ! & if you dont mind being a second class citizen in your own home it will work for you ! hahahaha Enjoy, Vince

Right now my favorite hobby is Black smithing and welding. I also enjoy sword fighting. I hunt, but not as much as Capt. Also the saying "vegitarian is and old Indian word for bad hunter" would fit for me this year. I have started working on models again. I like to go shooting and reload. I enjoy horse back riding which I grew up riding. I used to ski, but the ticket price just blows me away. I also used to Hike evry weekend and glaicer climb. Now I am an out of shape office POG. :?

YES DEAR...it works....

i take my share of vegies, i gotta have a piece of meat though or i am hungry 20 min later. im all for a mostly vegie stir fry or somthing. but i also have a chicken breast with it. personaly i dont get the whole vegan for political reasons though, if the thought of eating meat is repulsive thats cool, but you are kidding yourself if you think you are doing the world any bit of good by not eating meat. a freind of mine was vegan for a while because he read his favorite artist (moby) was vegan, he changed his mind a while later, i never saw any one attack a steak like he did that night lol.

With all this talk of food it got me thinking
(Thread Jack)
I'm thinking of having the Dave's holiday meal this weekend.

Oysters and littlenecks on the half shelf with hot sauce and horseradish

Filet Mignon with a wild mushroom red wine pan sauce

Bluecheese and spinach salad with crimson pears and candied pecans

Bottle of 2001 Jordan Cab Sav

Then a PSP2 with something single malt.
(End Jack)

Cooking and eating are two great hobbies. :wine:

I'd have to agree, though I tend to lean more towards the blues side and I'm also into the Blues Rock - Stevie Ray, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, John Lee Hooker - sweet!

Oh, and Jimmy Buffett, can't forget him!
