good morning it is Sunday 9/7/14 a cool crisp day here in da burgh, shades of Autumn are upon us , Summer never got hold here much , by now my grass should be burnt out & it is Flush with green soft blades of grass, a comfortable carpet & lush to lay on , we haven't gone over 90 & the amount of rain we have had is way above the norm. Globial warming my @$$ !, last time I checked the polar ice cap was growing .... it is a cycle, it warming never took place how did the ice age end? Duhhhh ! I am sure it was not from industrial out put like al gore tells all of us. was there any industry when the ice age ended, I don't think so . Just a LOT of COW FARTS !
Ok enough of the BS , Breakfast was bacon & eggs , with almond bread toasted & lightly buttered , a sunny side up egg & the one slice of slab cut bacon thick as a pork chop....... , the coffee is Ethopian , & Made cold last night sat in the press pot till early this morning , pressed & warmed ever so lightly in the Micro wave ..... a light sheen of coffee oils on the surface , a cup of JOY. , the kona will wait for a bit , but the cigar will be a ISOM Monte #2 this morning , I just feel that I deserve to start the week on a Good step. this past week was a long hard & tuff on the nerves, & the family..... but things are working out between my grandson & my daughter , how ever not good between my daughter & her mother .... 2 stubborn MULES & one cant see the others point & now I am stuck in the middle along with all the rest of the family , & they just don't see eye to eye , & NO ONE wants to give an inch.... , me I just pull the cork on a fine old bottle of single malt, light up a cigar, make a pot of coffee & put on the Jazz & my head phones & let them Not talk to each other LOUDLY hahahaha
I am NOT cooking today, we are going out for a change I deserve a break today BUT we are not going to McDonalds ,,,,,,, , the day (Night) we moved my grandson to his apt. I stopped at Micky D's to get a Bacon chicken club, paid 4.99( plus tax,) & drove off , got home to find a Qtr. pounder plain , no cheese, no onions , no Nothing on it, , & I asked for a Root beer & got coke, well if the @$$ wipes who work there want 15 bucks an hour they better step up the game, minium wage for Minium skills
2 out of 2 WRONG, & when I pointed out to the pierced lip skank at the drive up window that there ware french frys on the floor & a spilled shake on the floor , she looked at me & said SO what ....... well I can see in the drive up window & the place looks like shit ,,, do you serve food at home from a dirty kitchen ? .... dammmmm I now remember why all I ever get is Coffee when I am there ! , OH I forgot to tell you the "manager "took out his teeth & you cold see them in his shirt pocket, ,,,, looked like snuffie smith , all he needed was a corn cob pipe & a jug of shine !
, Friday I went to Longvue Country Club & rolled a few cigars for the outing , an old club & a lot of the old money is being squeezed out by the upstart computer generation, & they just don't TIP at all, & made about 65 Bucks in tips for all day , rolled 300 cigars & made 65 bucks in tips , dammmmm cheep bastards , & 2 guys gave me 20 each , do that 40 out of the 65 right there .... no one stooped as low as to give change , but many just took the cigars & walked away , the club paid for all 300 but at a BIG DISCOUNT , I thought I might make at lest 200 in tips , or even more , hahahaha , they want me back in the spring ,,,,, wholesale on the cigars just went UP hahaha ! if you cant get it one one end you get it on the other, But I did pick up a new client for a rolling job... a private party with about 25 people & 100 cigars ,,,, CASH no Checks !
I have a top flight set of cigars today ,,, after the ISOM monte , I have a Green label Partagas that has been bouncing around the humidor a long time . then a Padron Maduro 1964 Anniv, Princippe , I just love them little smokes ..... then a new Nicaraugen Monte Espania & after that , who knows , I do need to get a Don Carlos #3 in some time today , or maybe not, who knows I might just go back to bed & take a nap !!!! hahaha

It has been a strange year, but that's what the warmists predict. Not sure where you saw global ice increasing, but I'll guess at Faux News. Haven't eaten at MickeyD's in years. As far as $ 15 minimum wage, I'm curious as to whether you made it- with or without tips from your cigar rolling. 93 here yesterday, 70's today-it's no wonder the garden is not producing up to par.

I sell my cigars with a cammeroon , maduro or conn. wrapper all Churchill sized 7 x 50 they are 100 for 25 cigars , 4 bucks each ..... But I don't sell a lot of them.... I know that it is high for some thing you never smoked before .
A friend of mine got some shop rolled cigars in the Boston area a few years ago and paid $ 4 or 6 a stick for them, so your price is not out of sight. He found they lacked consistency, so he stopped buying them.
My problem is I'm out here in the mid-west,and these folks only roll wacky weed and wheels.I have to search for good cigars,I found a shop about 30 minutes from home.That's why I'm always looking for online stores.Kinda hard to compare sticks though so I put alot of stock in the comment you guys post here.
Where I live there is no shops with 30 miles, so most of my purchases are done online. I buy mainly on auctions and it can be addicting. Seems like I always need another humidor. I hadn't bought any cigars since May, but recently fell off the wagon.

Good morning it is Sunday 9/14/14 a cool crisp clear day here in da Burgh we got down to 40 F last night & even now it is Cool outside at an uncomfortable 52 F & a CLEAR BLUE sky no wind But I think I will be smoking out in the sun today & not on the back deck in the shade or in the Qtr.Deck , it is downright cool & I am NOT looking forward to the winter at all , These OLD bones just cant take it anymore !
My wife bought me a microwave pressure cooker , so we are going to try it out today , her favorite Hunk O Beef will get zapped & in 40 minutes we should have the same results as the 4 Hours in the cast iron pot in the oven . we shall see ... the gravy & browning are still up in the air..... But I have a plan. I will be baking a crust less peach pie & that will be easy , as far as anything else to go with the beef ,potato & veggies I am still waiting for her opinion ........
breakfast was the standard bacon, eggs & a sliced tomato with almond bread toasted & lightly buttered ..... the coffee was a hodgepodge of all the left over Northern African coffees that were in the house , ... after a life time of tasting coffees I just haven't found one to be my GO TO all the time coffee , since there are so many I want them ALL. I thought I might mix up the ultimate blend of pipe tobacco & after years I found there is NO way that it can be done , Thank you Thomas Edision for never giving up BUT I am . to many different coffees to many different pipe tobaccos & to many cigars to limit your self to the same old stuff all the time ,,, that's what I tell the wife , , put on the red wig tonight I am in a red head mood hahahah, yea like that would work here hahahaha
well the weather is changing the temps are dropping & I am not ready for winter at all, I wish I could talk her into a trip south for the winter, but she tells me we cant ... or she cant ,,, what ever , I just shrug my shoulders & move on with life .
, the shop started with a wimper last week , SLOW was the word, But it picked up for Thursday & Friday ,,,,, I didn't even check on Saturdays numbers & don't want to think about todays ....... I am going to RELAX & have a pot of KONA with a Don Carlos #3 & get on with my Sunday .... & later today I might dig in the ISOM Humidor & see what I can find , a nice R&J corona or an Upman corona , I seam to be on a corona kick & no reason to get off it , unless I happen to come across the Monte A size that I have been eyeing up the past few weeks ,,,,,,, who knows I might end up with a CAO La Travitia or a Oliva V series Lancero .......
the grandsons are getting on with life , the younger one will be taking his driving exam later this month & the older one is all moved in his Apt. & walking to work so no need for a car there , ,,,,, dammmmmm I feel OLD.
I really want to say some thing about the beheadings in the middle east BUT I am so fired up about it I cant get the words to come out & I feel frustrated by it , ...... is it time to turn the desert sand into glass?
I think I am going to go back to bed & see if I am in a better frame of mind when I get back up..... OH dammmmm Don Carlos #3 is calling me & we have an appointment at Starbucks to see a few golfers about rolling for nthere end of season even.... dammmmm I so wanted to get a nap in today.... maybe next week hahaha Enjoy, Vince

Good Morning it is Sunday 9/21/14 the LAST Full day of Summer & here in da Burgh it seams like summer never got here in full force , we had a wonderful long warm spring with lots of rain , & the grass never did brown out like it has in the past, I don't water my lawn since I have a well & not city water .. BUT I love living here , unless I hit the lottery then I might move to Hawaii , the Bahamas , Bora Bora ,or any place I might want to try , Havana ? WHO KNOWS ! next step , BUY a lottery ticket hahahaha .
the shop & the family are OK the wife & daughter are not talking right now , the grandsons are both being alive & well with all the BS going on in the world, looks like it is time for a Crusade back to the middle east ..... Everyone wants to be the boss of everyone else , a power grab from way to many different directions , its MY WAY or death , all I say is BS , just live in peace with each other , the more I think about it the more I want to just say to H3LL with it all & drop out of society like the Hippies of the 60's . Make love not war , But at my age I can shoot better than I can make the wife's roll her eyes back the way I did 40 + years ago ,,, with my advanced age it still works but not as often or as long , dammmmm I am getting tired just typing hahahaha
I have a roast chicken in the fridge & will be making some baked spuds & tossing some greens & that will be our Sunday supper , I talked her out of the beef she always wants . I have been digging way down in the stack of humidors & digging down deep in them *& coming up with a few GREAT O L D ISOM's & a few old Davidoffs & a few sticks with the bands missing , but I think they are Padron anniv. 64 's ,,, so not to get confused agin I think I will just set fire to them & ENJOY them with a pot of Kona & a weee dram of Ardbeg .... it is just before 11AM here BUT its 5 PM some place hahaha let the liver know it is in for a hard day .......

Also sorry to see you go Matthew. For some reason the site owner pays no attention to the site and several attempts have been made to contact him to get the site moderated. Our former moderators have been gone for quite a while and I've offered to moderate the forum, but I have just about given up try to contact the owner. I've cut back to posting rather infrequently and can only hope something happens soon. It's a shame because this was and could have been a great place to talk cigars.

Good morning to an almost empty house , but if its show time no matter how many are in the paying seats the show will be on & 100% of the effort will be put fwd.
I started the morning with the last inch and a half of last nights OPUS X " A " , it has been sitting in the humidor a long time & I thought it was time ! so I pulled it out for our Saturday evening cigar & coffee ride, & when we got home there was about 2 inches left & I got most of it right off the bat , before breakfast, with a mixed pot of coffee about 30 % Purivian & 70% from Costa Rica ..... a chilly start to the day & I think I might be ready to ditch the light summer cotton robe for the long flannel robe as it was downright chilly this morning on the deck... maybe I should have just put on my pants & got it over with BUT I still am in my robe & sitting here thinking about getting dressed , but thinking about it is as far as I have got so far !
we had a nice breakfast of sausage & eggs with almond bread toasted & buttered, no jam or jelly , & there is a bacon wrapped beef tenderloin along with some red sweet potatoes going on the grill later today , still cant get the boss to give up her BEEF , I wanted to do pork or chicken today for a change BUT N O way , beef ,,,, its whats on the menu !
I have been digging into the humidor deeper than usual & have come up with some gems that met up with the V Cut & a burning hunk of wild cherry out of the fire pit,,,, so far this week the ISOM's have taken a HUGH hit & just looking at the amount of cost to replace them ... well I hate to think about it , a car payment might have been less... BUT I enjoyed every second of it , from the Partagas series D #4 's , the Monte #2's Hoya's & Por Laranga's , not to mention all the "A" sized Opus & Padron's that all went up in smoke , a small amount of single malt also "evaporated" from the bar. ,,, I figure at my age the collecting has run its course & now it is TIME to enjoy the fruits of my labors , & if I run out of sweet delectable I will just start MOOCHING from my friends like they do NOW ! , so if you want to make a donation of a QUALITY ISOM, High end Domestic or a run of the mill El Producto , ( I smoke a few a year just to slap my taste buds around a bit ) the return address is listed on the posting under my name !
Grandsons are doing well , the shop has been holding its own & the last of the watermelon's came off the vine last night ....... a few days to soon ! should have waited a week more . BUT I was craving watermelon , so I cut it up & ate a few slices with a little bit of BACON, it makes everything better !
I am looking for bacon after shave !!!! no I am not going to shave anytime soon , I just want the great aroma of bacon !
I have noticed a great deal of BULLSHIT postings about fake passports, & the like,,,, what the hell get a real one & go places & get the experience , not a lie. cant afford it, BULLSHIT you work hard save a bit here & there & then you go , all this instant gradifacation is for the birds, work for some thing then it will be a much more sastisfing in the end..... I have been a LAZY man all my life BUT I am driven to do things, so I find the easiest way of doing some thing & get the JOB done , that way I can enjoy my life as I am the one making it , not the government or some benifactor , I make my own way in life. sure I get social security BUT I paid into it for 60 PLUS years, ,, had I invested it in a private retirement account ...... I would be a lot closer to the magic numbers I had hoped for when I retired ,,, I am not complaining, the few hours I put in at the shop are just to help pass the time & enjoy the company of fellow cigar smokers ....
Well I have a lot to do today , there is a Don Carlos #3 & a pot of Kona wanting for me . Not to mention the wife has a special request to use the computer so I need to vacate this chair & let her do what ever she has on her mind......... Enjoy, Vince

I've reported all these fake spammers to the FBI, maybe they can put a few of them behind bars where they belong. Good morning it is Sunday 10/5/14 a cold windy day here in da BURGH, we had a bit of S N O W & sleet yesterday, right now the temp is 45 F with a 16MPH wind out of the NW , dropping the feels like temp into the 30's ! BURRRRR , so with a change in the weather came a change in Breakfast, OATMEAL this morning , with sliced peaches in it & the meat of the day, the month & year B A C O N ,,, I had thought about crumbling it in the oats , BUT it went on the side , some people say Unicorns are magical animals But I say it is the PIG that is Magic ... it turns veggies into BACON.. & speaking of Bacon I popped in a bottom round roast wrapped in bacon in the oven with some veggies for later today , the potatoes will go in later ,,, beef & bacon , what a combo , like a Bacon Cheeseburgher, ,,,,,, every thing is better with bacon. ....... want to rid the world of ISIS ,,, round up a few thousand wild pigs , air lift them to the middle east, the way they breed & root up food the place would be over run with wild pigs in a year ......... then we can get MORE BACON.
I was digging in the stack of humidors & came across a 3 pack of Zino's chubbys in a very nice flat box , complete with matches that fits in my shirt pocket almost as well of the 3 finger leather case I have , it has sharp corners & pocked a small hole in the pocket so it will be relegated to the recycle bin & made into something use full after it is melted down & re cast into some thing else , Steel it made Pittsburgh what it was now the mills are almost all gone , manufacturing is at an all time low & it is the engine that drives the ecomemy , with out making something there is no market place , you open a bake shop you make some thing , you open a shoe repair shop you RE make some thing , the blacksmith makes tools & fix's old ones , the taylor makes your pants , & you & all your friends depend on each other for goods & services but here we have 51% of the people in this country getting some kind of assistance from the government .... it makes me sick. Yesterday I was at the grocery store , & the lady in front of me had the state issued access card $232 + of meat all top end stuff NO ground meat all steaks & chops , racks of ribs & WHOLE FILIETS of beef, , I picked up ONE bottom round roast of just over 2 pounds & under 7 bucks , & buy the time I checked out , my bill was just over 30 Bucks , she was still loading her trunk, a new Lexis with the temp . plates still on it , she was parked a few cars from me & if I didn't try to keep my mouth shut it was a shame. I didn't just flip out on her , if you can afford a lexis you don't need food stamps....... I see this time & time again , people on public assistance living better than me & I WORKED all my life for what I have , I am now retired & still working.........
well the leaves are changing color & starting to fall the yard need one more cut before the mower gets put away for the winter & the snow shovels come out ! I love the seasons of change , I hate winter, but the change is welcome, last a few weeks & lets get back to spring & summer !
Back to the oncologist in the morning , a blood test & then if all is well a flu shot, B-12 shot & off to the Qtr. Deck for a cigar , some scotch & maybe a little coffee ! , if I don't get the flu shot I will still have the whisky hahahaha , the liver is in good shape it has had to endoure a lot of abuse over the years but it is tip top even after filtering THOUSANDS of GALLONS of distilled spirits , and that was just last weekend hahahaha
I like my bacon & my booze I see that the Cuban government just put the boot to the new construction of a masque, making me want to move to Cuba even more now than I did before ! .... I am not a big fan of Rum, but I am sure I could learn to like it ! ,
looks like it is that time, I hear DON CARLOS #3 calling me the Kona is ready & I have a soft spot all picked out to sit & until its time to add the spuds to the pot or I feel the need to get rid of all the coffee I have been drinking since I got up at 6:30 this morning ,,,, never fear B/S OTL , I did go back to bed for a short time but the Boss wanted breakfast so I had to get up!. right now I need a cigar ! , Enjoy, Vince
with the drop of temps & all the rain we had this past week the sales at the shop were down a bit , Friday is the best day of the week for me & our sales were 50% of a normal Friday...... HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL on Friday is killing me hahahaha !

Nice day up in Maine today Vince, but your weather is hitting home today and will probably get to downeast Maine where I'm visiting Tuesday or Wednesday. I just hope my garden survives tonight. Can't wait to get home and find all those leaves waiting to be raked up.

Good morning it is Sunday 10/12/14 chiily day here in da Burgh we had a heavy frost last night & the trees are showing some color , it is sunny & bright out now but the temp is still in the lower 40's , BUT I will be grilling a few yams & some bacon wrapped tenderloins later today . breakfast was a nice cheese blintz with sour cream & cherry preserves ,,, a bit on the sweet side but I was able to scarf down 3 of the little buggers. the coffee was a nice medium roast Costa Rica Estate Grown . I have the Sunday Kona & Don Carlos #3 ready to go & the Qtr. Deck is getting the heat turned on soon !
Last night we went over to a buddy place to sit around the fire pit & sip spiced wine ,,, it was a nice time but the spiced wine didn't lend well to the Opus Angels Share but when I switch over to coffee the cigar took off like a rocket out of the Kennedy space center. so dam good I might have an other after the Don Carlos !
the shop[ had its ups & downs all week , it was OK sales wise but a lot of dead time in the shop , a few days there were HOURS between customers , chilly, rainy, sunny & bright all in a few hours of each other , people tend to stay home !
we got our Flu shots last week & I have been feeling a bit sore at the point of injection , along with the B12 shot I get each month , my hip & arm are sore .. I wonder if they don't use a hammer to pound it in instead of a thin Hypodermic needle ...... or am I just getting OLD & need more $hit to complain about hahaha .
we stopping at the local hardware store last night to pick up a new coffee pot , the old one was 4 years old & made countless pots of coffee flawless , but the heating element went & there was nothing I could do to fix it so we got a new one , there was a special at the hardware store 20% off so we stepped up to the higher end pot & paid about the same as the middle of the road unit with out the sale price , so now the kitchen counter has the Single cup pod machine , a pot for regular, a pot for decaf the burr grinder the espresso machine that only works when it wants to , & it will be replaced asap ! & has been known to stop mid cup . ....... I think some one from $TARBUCK$ has put a voodoo curse on it ! hahahaha
at night when I go to bed I have had a local NPR station on with the BBC news .... if that dosent keep you from sleeping I don't know what would,,,, the reports are so pessismestic ,,,, I switched the station back to Classical from Ebolia & ISIS , you would think we were at the loosing end of WW3 from the commentary . not much else new in da Burgh that I can think about to pass on to the few who read my $hit every Sunday Morning , so its time to fire up the Kona & DC #3
