Today I had a Partagas 1845. Light, boring, mild taste...the wrapper unraveled within a few puffs...uneven burn. I've had this cigar before and enjoyed it but it seems like I got a bad one this time.

Thanks I will pass on your thoughts & prayers to him, she passed away at the begenning of Dec.( Breast cancer ) , he has been a basket case since, , drinking way to much, not eating right, lack of sleep, not taking care of him self at all, he did go to work & was doing ok, but his boss told him to take some time ( with pay ) great boss & go back to Ireland & spend some time with her family & that is just what he is doing, just the thought of it helped him a lot, he was out & about the last week or so, sobered up & answering his phone again, there was some time that no matter when you called to talk he was never picking up the phone , you could leave a message but he never returned any calls, whe you would go over , he would answer the door but didnt want any company, he wanted to tuff it out, but that is what friends are for we all told him, & I guess he had enough of alone time & is getting back to his old routine. he was at the gym pumping iron & working out on the Natulas machines last time I talked to him, he even answerd his cell phone at the gym !, , I guess every one has there own way of greeving & just leting him alone is what he wanted. I guess he decieded to get back to living , he has a son from his first marrage & is talking to him every day , he is not in this area, some place in the south but I am not sure where . he is about 10 I think, just about the same age as one of my grandsons, I guess he knows that his son needs him & now he is ready to need his son.
I just got back from our Sunday night Cigar ride, the OPUS from 2003 was great, I had to stop a few times to get rid of all the coffee, my wife said it was like going out with a little kid !, Yep thats me her little kid ! hahaha Enjoy, Vince

Well Vince, I deceided that Spring is here. I turned the winter cigar smoking garage into the spring and summer woodworking shop. I moved the Large Stainless Steel bowl type ashtray to the back porch. Lowered the swing and cleaned up the summer kitchen gas grill. Turned on the three ceiling fans and declaired it was OPEN. We had burgers and dogs for Sunday dinner. Port and cigars for after dinner. Let me think, Perdomo, "X" size, Maduro's. You get to taste every puff of those babys.

Sounds like a good time was had by all. That's quite a cigar. I love them, and would smoke it more often, but the price and the strength, particularly the latter, keep me away.

yes we all know Bloofy likes girly man cigars ! hahaha, & as soon as I find some I will be sending them your way. !!

Tom, I never close my summer kitchen, I grill all winter , nothing better than a porterhouse on the grill in January , just like the 4th of july ! I guess you could say I am a hard core chef ! hahaha Enjoy, Vince

I have a large stainless steel gril on the screened in back porch (summer Kitchen) :D and the smaller one it replaced in the garage. In the winter all I have to do is open the garage door about 2/3 of the way, fire up the propane heater and fire up the grill. The winter doesn't keep me from searing some meat.
It is a real shame OLD Bloofington can't smoke REAL cigars. I guess he will just have to settle for some more Mac's. :neer:

Heat you got heat ? dammmmm I aint got no stinking heat ! the grill is on the back deck, there is a roof but no walls ! , I light it up , run inside, when I see the temp get up in the red zone I run out, drop on the Beef, & run back in , wait 3 minutes flip it , close the lid again & run back in, then 3 minutes later , I go back out turn off the gas & bring it in , MOOOOOOOOO , hahaha Enjoy, Vince

Roof, you gotta roof? I aint got no roof. I stick it out in the cold and rain and grill like a man. A cold sick wet man.

I need a roof to keep the snow off the deck, that used to be my winter smoking area, now that I have the Qtr.Deck, I dont need it anymore , but it is nice to have in the summer, the trees shade it & keep it from getting hot & with a nice brease it is a little cooler there when I am having a morning smoke or a late evening smoke when I dont go to the Qtr.Deck, some times its just comfortable in the open air. Before we had an influx of people in the area I was able to sit out there in my underware after dark, now there is so much traffic & the new headlights , well they just light everything up , & one night I mooned the cops . well that was the "end" of that hahahahaha ! Enjoy, Vince

Cian, are you on vacation ? we miss your posting from the land of Fu ! hahahaha
Enjoy, Vince

Hummmm it was a quiet week here on the Sunday morning smoke this past week, nothing from the land of Fu , I guess the weather has been to nice to spend any time on the computer ! , But it is like that all year long ! hahaha oh well, we had a cool, to cold week here, 70F on Monday, for a high & Tuesday the high was 38F
not a fun week at all, Gas prices are up again @2.49 , seams like all I am doing on this new job is spending my paycheck at the gas station !, with talk of 3.00 a gallon by summer, I dont know if I can afford to do this job ! hahahaha I do get good milage , my last trip to Erie Pa I did get 25.7 MPG, but most of my travel is stop & go , this was all Interstate highway travel, arround town I get about 20.0 + or - 1 or 2 MPG, depending on the traffic,
I have the Kona in the pot & the cup, I made French Toast for the Boss & my self this morning & when I went out for the Sunday Paper ( it is a long cold walk to the end on the driveway to get the Dammmmm paper) I turned on the heat in the Qtr.Deck, headed there asap ! I want my Newpaper in my door , not at the end of the drive way, I dont want it tossed on my porch, I want it between the storm door & the front door, , thats what I pay for , HOME DELEVERY not end of drive way delevery . dammmm kids to lazy to walk up & put it in the door, & then at Christmas they expect a big Tip , they dont even collect any more, I pay monthly by mail direct to the newspaper , I never see the kid during the year, but during the holidays I get a card with an envelope in it , Cheekey SOB , must have Brass balls to do that, but when I ask & tell them I will pay extra for in the door delevery, all I get is How much extra & I'll think about it, & the paper is still at the end of the drive way , I told him I was willing to pay an extra 20 bucks a month , thats 5 bucks a week, for a 6 day a week paper( no Saturday paper) every one needs a day off hahahahaha , I would be paying more for delevery than the cost of the paper which is $4.50 a week , dammm I sould take over the paper route & charge everyone 5 bucks a week extra to put it in the door, I would be making more money than I am now after I pay for all my gasoline!
The sun is out but it is cold here in the Burgh , just at freezing 32F right now to bad it isnt 32C I would be running the A/C instead of the furnace , I would be on the hamock with the cieling fan going a big glass of lemon aid or lime aid & my straw hat over my face to keep the eyes shadded from the light , tilted up just far enough to get a fine cigar to my mouth with out burning the brim ! ahhhh now thats how I want to spend my days ! BUT since I am not independently wealthy & need to make some sort of an income to suplement my pention every month I guess I will continue to work a bit each month, BUT just enought that I dont get to tired hahahahaha !
I did have a good week on the road so I cant complain to much, other than the fact that some of the "people " I need to deal with are a little hard to take, "what are you giving away for free" is what I hear, , My good nature & friendship is what , well that shuts some of them up & if I get a laugh I know I have a sale, if I get a groan & a cold shoulder , I know I am just spinning my wheels , thats when I go into plan B , I go to the closest bar & look for a cigar smoker , If I find one Great I give him one of the cigars I am selling, ask him to go to the shop I just lerft in a day or so & ask the guy for This brand of cigars , when it works it works just fine, I get a call back & an order, , if not I didnt loose a lot but I might have gained a friend & future customer !
St Paddys day is behind us now , I did have a weeee bit of Bushmill & a weee bit of Jamison, as not to offend anyone I also had a weee dram of Redbreast & some Powers, & just for good measure & for a treat to my taste buds a weeee dram of Conneremera Single malt Irish whisky , & no I didnt see any Lepherchans this year, I guess I didnt drink enouth ! hahahaha
I got a Wopper of a suprise this week when I got home on evening there was a big box from UPS on my front porch , well I hadnt ordered anything so I was suprised to find a Camacho Humidor filled with 25 Churchill Negro Camachos , , wowowowowowow do I have a great wife or what ???? she saw them on line & ordered them for me , what a sweet lady she is & the smokes are Wonderull , I let them warm up a day before & I torched one, , the anticapation was killling me ! So smoooooth & flavorful & The cigars arnt bad either hahahaha
Nice Humidor ( like I need an other one ) but this one is nice, , with the Logo on the top & in the inside of the lid I placed a Humitube in the box after I took out a few cigars, I have had one every day so far & have had to pass on 2 to friends , so if you get to the Qtr.Deck before they are all gone, well you might get one hahaha ! I do want to put 10 away for some long term ageing, but it might only be 5 maybe 3 Oh what the H3ll I might just smoke them all today hahahaha !
Since I had Corned beef & cabbage yeasterday I am going to use up the rest of the uncooked cabbage & make Haluski today,
( Cabbage & noodles ) , By request form the BOSS , hey what ever she wants she gets , I know what end of the cigar to light hahaha!
well it is about that time to head back to the kitchen & get more coffee on my way to the bathroom to get rid of all the coffee I have had allready today ! , it seams like you just rent the coffee
( & Beer) , but I never have that problem with Scotch , hummmm I wonder , maybe I just cant handle all the water ! hahaha
Enjoy, Vince

Coffee doesn't even last long enough in me to be called rented. Sure does get my day started off right, though. I'm about to go brew a Freedom Press of La Minita.

Isn't it interesting how in the old days, a kid would think of it himself, or maybe his parents would talk to him about it, and I mean the extra money thing. Back when you and I were growing up Vince, if a kid wanted to make more money, either he provided the extra service FIRST, or in asking his parents how he could make more money, they would suggest it. THEN, after providing the extra service, once noted, people would begin to automatically be more generous, because they noted the extra effort the kid was making.

I know that if I ask somebody to do something, and they do more than what I asked, I'm inclined to feel more generous. Nowadays, because of the wrong kind of teaching and signals from parents, kids are looking for the extra money FIRST, then they MIGHT provide you with the extra service.

As I've been saying for a while now, this country is already dead, we just haven't been carried out and buried yet. And what sucks even worse, is that Cian is missing. Hey Cian, we know you have a life, and if things have taken you away for now, or even the long term, we understand. You sure have lit up the boards with some of the best reading I've ever done, though. Hope all is well with Cian and his family, and that of COURSE includes Fu Man Chu.

At the moment I'm having a cup of Kenya Peaberry Kiamara coffee (good stuff, need to reorder a pound or two) and a Fonseca7-9-9 cigar. Pretty good together, very relaxing and tasty. The cigar is on the mild side, but so is my palate, so it's a match. Maybe down the road I'll develop a taste for the fuller bodied smokes, but for now I'm going to enjoy what I enjoy.

It's hard being the old newbie :)

Welcome aboard Unka , , please don't feed the animals here in the zoo ! hahaha

Bloofy, I see you drink a lot of the La Minta , is that from Oren's?

I had an other Camacho Churchill Negro this afternoon, man what a great smoke ! , this must have been the cigar Kipling had in mind when he penned, a Woman is just a woman , but a good cigar is a smoke !
looks like no story from the land of Fu again this week, I hope all is well in paradice !!
The Boss & I will be headed out for a cigar & coffee ride again tonight , No idea where we will go , just point the car tward the gas station & go from there ! hahaha Enjoy, Vince

I first discovered La Minita Tarrazu from Green Mountain back in the early 90's. I get most of my beans from Oren's now, because of great selection, EASY convenience, very competitive prices. I don't know if this La Minita is the Tarrazu or not, but the La Minita that Oren's has is still low priced, and most definitely one of the best I've ever had. It's a great wake up coffee, and will get you going even when you're tired. With the price on other coffees steadily rising, if I want to save a couple bucks, I'll go for this.

Thanks I will check it out when I need to order again, right now I have about 12 pounds of coffee beans , ranging from Kona to 8 o'clock decafe , I have a small bag of decalf Italian roast coffee that i got at a clearence sale when the grocery store was being sold to a different chain, 99 Cents for an 8 ounce package, , cant be to bad at that price, I got all they had left (4) so I will drink it , or give it away, eather way it will end up at the cigar shop in one form or an other hahaha ! Enjoy, Vince
