Sunday Morning Smoke

Sunday in Chesapeake was great. Daughter Nr 2 arrived Wed from her trip to Japan with a bottle of Saki for her old dad. So dear old dad made a teriaki steak, or rather a Teriaki Roast on the grill. Started the marinade process on saturday, right after I returned from the butcher with a freshly cut 2 inch thick piece of sirloin. Actually I had a whole sirloin tip sliced into 2 in slabs. I now have 3 more big hunks of red meat to burn on the grill.
We burned the steak, made a large bowl of rice, cooked up some snap beans(with bacon), wify made corn bread, chilled the Saki and started the feast.
Number 1 grandson (2yrs old) was watching me and the boys hitting the saki and decieded he needed to join in the party. We washed out a freshly emptied beer bottle and filled it with water and got him his own shotglass. So here he is standing on his chair, with glass in hand doing "cheers" and spilling half of the glass of water down the front of him. We all had a great laugh, including the Boy.
The evening was caped off with some Monty #2's (I still have a few left) and a glass of Taylor Vintage Port.
Another Great sunday get together.

Yesterday was a good day. It started a little brezzy and cool, but warmed up to around 60-65 with no breeze. I helped my step father clean out the Koi pond at the new house they had bought. This is a first for him and I. I have had aquariums for many years, but never one this bi and outside. He only has one fish, but he is big and beautiful.
We had transplanted him to the smaller pool where the small waterfall starts, and cleaned out the larger pool that is his home. My stepfather thought that the pool needed to be completly drained and replaced. I advised against it, knowing that a complete water change could really stress out the fish, but he did it anyways.
He also wanted to completely clean out the water filter, with all of its beneficial micro-organisms, but he listened to me this time. The fish was back home shortly after the two pools had time to exchange water and become the same temp. He was safely home.
My mom was playing the part of the loving grandmother (Nonnie as she is called by my kid, soon to be kids) and watched Daniel as I enjoyed a lovely short story and had a cup of coffee. It was good to smoke a cigar and not have to worry about putting it down to pick up a kid. With the sun on my face and no work, and I had enjoyed the day I had looked forward to all week.

This is Sunday's post on Saturday. I am packing up the car for a week at the beach. Wify has the week off (spring Break) so we are meeting her brother and family(Six all together), her younger brother and family(8 of those) and oue group makes a total of 19. We are in two different cottages, Thank Goodness. I will have a Sunday Morning smoke but it will be sitting on the beach watching the sun come up or maybe watching the Sun after it all ready has come up. Why get up to early when you are on Spring Break. We will have lots of fresh seafood. I understand the spring Tuna run this year has been very productive. Fresh tuna on the Grill. See you all next week.

Sunday morning cigar was a Gran Nica Churchill, billed as an extremely mild Nicaraguan cigar, but I'm glad I let a few sit for more than a year, because they are finally weak enough for me. :dunno: :cryinlaugh: :rotflmao: :pumpkin:

I lit this at 0005 hours and finished it at 0150 hours. It has flavors of sharp, metallic earth, occasionally sweet earth, and a bit of spice. Very nice. My first cigar in a while, and these are always good. These are really cheap, too.

WELL HE IT COMES !!! CULINARY DISTURBANCE ! HAHAHAHA
I just got back from "ON the Boarder " A new Tex Mex place I am working a host till they get off the ground ( great to have 40 plus year experience & have a few people skills , they come looking for you ! ) , any how we had a "LITTLE " lunch , brought home enough left overs for supper tonight & lunch & supper on Monday , ( I got lazy & decided to go out this Sunday) give us both a rest ! I had the shrimp & portabella Fajita & Barb had the Cheese enchilada .
We both passed on desert , dammm I am so full & over stuffed , didn't put a dent in the pile of food they sent out , so after we went for a walk of about 2.5 miles ( a full mug of coffee & a Joya DE Nicaragua Torp. ) it was a nice walk to get some of that food to digest, I also had a side of Japeleno , now I am waiting for the ice cream hahahahahaha , sure hope the hemorrhoid's don't mind hahahaha
End of Culinary disturbance ! hahaha

Enjoy,. Vince

I did the ol' seven mile walk home from New Hamburg Station after getting off the train at 0333 hours one morning early this week. Including a three minute stop to do what bears do in the woods, yes, also in the woods :eek:mg: :rotflmao: , I and my 25 or so pounds of baggage arrived safely home at 0518 hours. My usually quite efficient system has been digesting everything in sight since then. The walk takes me up about 1,000 feet, also. It's a workout. It'll take the cake off. :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh:

you forgot the ice cream. we have a local brand that has a bananna split flavor. it is a great tasting ice cream tastes just like the real thing mmmmmmmm :D :D

Ahhhhhhhh yes, bananas anything, especially in ice cream. I don't go to the Carvel truck anymore, but they do make a mean banana split. And Haagen Dazs came out with Bananas Foster a few years ago, and I must say, they did a good job.

Pass on the Ice Cream, just frozen yogurt for me Thanks but it is just to many calories hahahahaha

Just had a pint of Haagen Dazs Mint Chip. Getting ready to sip some of the seven year old Sazerac Rye.
